I HOPE U DON’T MIND ME PUBLISHING THIS ASK bc i kinda want other ppl to read it too in case they’re considering the same thing. Uh this is kinda long but hopefully understandable (if not, feel free to ask me to clear stuff up!). Imma put this under a read-more.
So the way that I, my sister, and my gf got into it was by watching a Yakuza 0 playthrough first (Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the whole series and is a really good stand-alone thing imo). I think it varies between person to person. My sister and I watched Super Best Friends play Yakuza 0, and my gf couldn’t get into it that way bc of all the heckin commentary in it! Like they talked over p much everything!! She watched a no commentary playthrough. (then later watched the Super Best Friends playthrough bc their commentary is still p hilarious)Here’s the link to the no commentary playthrough she watched. (warning tho, the combat in the no-commentary playthrough kinda sucks since that person just..does the bare minimum and it’s rly boring to watch so feel free to skip thru some of those fights) BUT WAIT!!!!!!The best way to start is probably technically watching Yakuza 1/Kiwami. (BTW, Kiwami is just a gorgeous remake of Yakuza 1. The first Yakuza game came out wayyy back in 2005 and in abt 2015 they remade the game with the engine they used for Yakuza 0 and redid the voice acting with..basically the same cast as the 2005 game. And it’s not a reboot/spin-off or anything, it’s literally a shot-for-shot remake)Here’s the link to a no commentary playthrough of Yakuza Kiwami Then go back and watch Yakuza 0. Then 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. If yer still thirsty for more content after that………they have…spin-off games..au games….. Yakuza: Dead Souls is a zombie game that’s p Resident Evil-y, and Yakuza Kenzan and Yakuza Ishin r like..Historical AUs essentially…they’re both amazing)
