i just tried banana in my crab tank recently after i saw u mention it in a crab post and one of my crabs has gone absolutely... bananas for banana lol. normally shes very shy and i dont see her but now she'll sit in the dish for a full hour just munching on banana its adorable

Awwww, that’s awesome! :D I love finding new foods that they absolutely love. Banana is a popular fruit with my crew too. Bananas, grapes, coconut, apple...I think either papaya or mango (or both), but I can’t remember which one specifically. They really like the Zilla fruit mix as well!

Hey! So my hermit crabs will eat snake skin, and I've heard they love different types of poops, but I'm not finding anything on snake poop? Im trying to figure out if I can make use of my pet snake's.. gifts lol, what do you think?

Yeah, it’s not recommended to feed poop from carnivores like snakes. As far as I remember, the only reason that it’s okay to offer herbivore poop is because of how the digestion works. Herbivore digestive systems are efficient (okay well, some are XD), but there’s usually still some plant matter in various stages in their poop. That’s also why there’s a fair number of animals that will eat their own poop, like rats, mice, rabbits, etc. They can get a second chance at the nutrients left in it by sending it through again. So this is the theory on why hermit crabs like to eat poop from moose, deer, rabbits, sheep, etc. so much.

(Also if you do find a source of herbivore poop to offer, make sure you’re collecting from an area with no pesticides, if it’s wild, & if the animals are domestic, make sure they have a healthy diet & haven’t gotten any medications at all recently.)

So stick with just offering the snake sheds! Poop will still have to go in the trash. :)
