The Clash, Should I Stay or Should I go, 1982 (X)
Recently Acquired. I got this at the WFMU Record Fair for $20. I made a yuge mistake with this band. I had a late 80s reissue of Nico and then I bought everything else on CD. Then I got the CD box set and I never picked up the vinyl before it was too expensive. Slowly crawling my way back. I also fouled up by purging my CDs, including this one when I got the box set. Half of these songs aren’t even on the box set. What’s the point of that???!??!? So I’m back in the saddle with this album and it may be my favorite of theirs. It wasn’t even out when they existed. But I didn’t start listening to them until the late 80s, so it all came to me at once. I feel like this has some less self conscious moments with lots of earnest expression. Some of the other albums maybe too focused on what The Velvet Underground were trying to do. Stephanie Says, Lisa Says, She’s My Best Friend are 3 of the best songs ever recorded. And Lou schticking with himself over two track in Temptation Inside Your Heart is the single best performance he has ever done. So good to have this one back in my arms.

NOFX is awesome!
Title track of the upcoming PRDM album, "Cycle".
About a boy on a bike, dedicated to the boy on the bike on the cover.
He's tough, lucky, and one of the best gifts ever.
Side note: the bass line is very Tim Pate of That's It fame. Tim knew me when I was the boy on the bike singing Immigrant Song.
