But coffeeshop!au where Cas in this really obscure coffeeshop drinking a nonfat pumpkin spice latte and Dean stumbles in, shivering because he ran out of the house without his jacket. And for a moment he doesn't realize where he is until he does and it's like something dies in his eyes because he wanted (needed) a bar, not a froo-froo substitute. But then Cas walks over to him, somehow knowing that something is terribly wrong, and invites him to sit with him for a while. Because they're the only two in there and why not?
Dean doesn't remember saying yes, but he must have because five minutes later he's laughing at something Cas said and he can't stop staring at his too-blue eyes and his ridiculously attractive button-down and he's forgotten all about his dad and his brother. It's the first time in a while but he's glad it happened, glad he stumbled into this shop in which this man was sitting. He doesn't believe in fate, but when he walks out of that shop hours later with Castiel's number, scribbled hastily on an unused napkin, he feels like maybe he should start.
