Punks Don’t Dance

Prompt: Day Nine, a song that makes you happy

A/N: Writing this made me realize how much I miss going to local shows and hearing the bands play. TToTT

The band was rocking out while people were either in the mosh pit or bouncing to the music. It was always funny that people would start mosh pits even at concerts that didn’t need them.

Dean was standing near the front, watching the first band perform when someone from the pit shoved him forward a bit. Dean was quick to catch himself before he stumbled into one of the guitarists. He turned back to confront them but instead he caught his sights on you.

You were a few rows back, right in front of the mosh pit. You were standing dangerously close to the chaos; paying no mind or care in the world to what went on behind you. Bouncing lightly on your feet, you were soaked in the music.

A smile spread across Dean’s face as a thought came across his mind. And before he knew it, it was time for his band to perform.

Dean got way into the music when he played, the strings digging into the callouses on his finger tips. His green eyes would occasionally dart to your location where you were far more into his band than the one from before. He smiled a bit as he sang into the mic, fingers dancing along the fret and strumming the chords with the pick in his other hand.

In a small box locked inside the back of his mind, Dean was thinking of talking to you. And that would come faster that he would hope for.

People began clearing out of the building, and in a panic Dean told his bandmates he’d be back. They all knew what was happening and let Dean hurry off for a moment while they packed up. It didn’t take long for Dean to catch up to you, smiling.

“Hey. Did you enjoy the show?”

You smiled, “Yeah I did actually. First time I’ve seen your band perform.”

Dean chuckled, “Yeah. We should hang out sometime.”

“I’d like that. See you around at school?”

“Yeah I’ll see you around.”

Dean smiled and turned, glancing back to find you glance back as well. His smile spread wider as he went to finish packing up.

When the weekend came to an end, Dean caught up with you in the halls at school. The two of you talked on your way to classes, at lunch, and at the end of the day.

You shut your locker and followed him to the parking lot, watching your feet a bit as you walked. And what you saw had you biting back your laughter.

“Great taste in music and shoes?”

Dean was first confused but that melted away when he looked down to find the same brand of shoes as you, making him laugh. He shook his head as he opened his passenger door for you.

Once he got you to his house, the two of you went to his room and played a couple of games of Halo on his Xbox 360.

You had a complete blast as he taught you and you in turn kicked his ass, leaving him completely baffled. He pegged it to beginner’s luck and tried again. However, when he lost for a second time he gave up.

So for the rest of the night, you listened to him play his guitar and he even taught you a few things. Of course, Sam came in a few times to get onto Dean for all the distracting laughter.

However, there was no way Dean was listening to his brother.

During the rest of the week Dean had taken you to a drive in movie and to a food joint.

For a change you decided to invite him to a skating rink. The two of you skated under the changing lights, having a total blast.

However, the two weeks of fun soon came to an end.

Dean stopped hanging out and moved on to the next.

You weren’t upset by the fact the two of you grew apart. It was only meant for a short time because Dean wasn’t the type to dance around women for a long while. So you decided to move on as well.

And when the weekend came, Dean’s band wasn’t playing- but Dean was there. He was in the front row like always but a girl stood next to him this time. The two seemed to be jumping a bit to the music. He’d occasionally lean down to talk to her.

Part of you hated that he moved on, but another part understood. Even still, you decided that you didn’t want to see the two. You turned away and walked towards one of the doors leaving to the front area.

When Dean leaned to tell her something he caught sights of you.

You turned back, glancing one last time. Your eyes landed on his green ones and you smiled a bit before leaving the room.

Punks don’t dance pt 1

Going to concerts was your favorite thing to do; good or bad, rock or hip hop, with friends or alone. You loved seeing your favorite bands live with other people who loved them just as much as you do. You and your friends were going to a show tonight and made sure to get there super early so you got closest to the stage. The band came out on stage and you couldn’t take your eyes off of the lead singer. He was the cutest guy you had ever seen. He had bright blue eyes and blonde hair. They were about half way through their set when he reached out to you and pulled you up on stage. ‘Great way to break the ice,’ you thought.

Crystalyne - Punks Don’t Dance

This band grabbed me 3/3 of the first songs I listened to. Dang Canadian rockers always surprising me.

I almost passed this group as an electronica thing when I first heard the track above but then just realized this team can just write a great pop song. It wasn’t until I heard wolves below (not the best quality video - sound wise) did I realize that I was a fan.
