Black Dog Country
As far as towns went, Meriden wasn’t the smallest she’d ever seen, but it was probably one of the quaintest. Or it would have been if Liv weren’t accustomed to the smaller, simpler towns in the United Kingdom. She’d been enjoying a quiet visit with her father when she’d received word through some of the local practitioners that there were some interesting things afoot off to the east. Interesting things in the form of black dog sightings.
Black dogs were legendary throughout all parts of Great Britain as they’d been made famous through literature many times over. For that matter, so had the Fae and there were elements of truth to the stories that ran rampant about them. Which only made what she’d heard about the black dog sighting all the more intriguing.
Arriving in town, she’d taken some time to find a place to stay. Her father and step mother had offered to come with her, but when it came down to it, Liv was a big girl and not only could, but really needed to do this on her own. Besides all that, as kind as her step mother was, she always felt strange being in her childhood home with a woman who wasn’t Mum.
Thusly, she found a room at the Bull’s Head Innkeeper’s Lodge, a place with some history to it and that she’d been assured would be comfortable. She had no idea just how long the hunt for the black dog would take, but she was relatively certain it would be several days at the very least. And then it would be back to the Ways, and back to Chicago.
Having left her bag on the bed, she didn’t bother to unpack before setting out to see the town itself and find a bite to eat. Finding a place somewhere in the countryside that didn’t believe in something meaty would be difficult, but she was sure that a little bit of digging about, she’d be able to find a place. Through either luck or fate, Liv was able to locate that had some fantastic smells emanating from beyond the door.
The sound of a car horn abruptly going off behind her caused her to start and turn to look behind her, though she hadn’t bothered to stop moving. As such, she’d distractedly pulled the door open, and ran straight into someone coming out.
“Oh... Goddess!,” she murmured. “I am so sorry. Are you quite all right?”

A dark face in a corridor Deceptively beautiful She's watching you She's in everything you do Her kiss it tastes so sweet But left me with a lethargy I couldn't shake, I made a grave mistake I gave her my heart, she didn't want it Took it anyway and put a dark spell on it Since then I haven't been the same Needed a victim and she got it Took me in with her song, powerless to stop it Some men don't dare to speak her name
