Grounded :: The End
A Bridge
Me: Hank, can you come in here please?
Hank: Yes, my mama?
Pai: We have decided that you grounding will end tonight, but we hope that you have really thought about your outburst, being more mature and understanding the things you have, not just the things you want.
Hank: I have been in my room using my imagination and it was like I forgot how fun it was. I like the ipad and games, but I didn’t miss them so much while I was in punishment.
Me: What did you miss?
Hank: I didn’t like hearing you and papa and being far away.
Me: Your room felt far away?
Hank: The hallway was like a crack in the earth.
Me: We should build a bridge across that crack.
Hank: Can we do it right now?
Pai: Absolutely.
Me: (getting up) Are we thinking a draw bridge or a rope bridge or a replica Roman bridge?
Hank: Can we build a new… a different bridge every day?
Pai: (from a hug) Absolutely.

Ibn-Aljawzi narrated a story when a sheikh saw young people partying in the street: dancing, drinking, laughing happily. He prayed, not for their destruction or punishment, but said "May they dance, during and laugh joyously in paradise as well." Instead of wishing them punishment he wished for then to reform and repent in a beautiful way.
he is concentrating so HARD tho
I'm only asking you to give a shit.
It's funny that people say this world is fucked.
I believe that people can change, and that people deserve second, third, even fourth chances-and countless ones after that. If people cared even half as much as I did about other people, even ones they didn't know, the world would be a better place.
I've been told too many times not to get into social work. But why is it so hard for anyone to just reach out and help someone? Even with simple things such as giving someone a kind 'hello' or a smile. Not everyone has to be a hero.
It's such a high turn over You'll be so depressed You won't make nearly enough money
I'm sorry, but money has never. ever. been more important than the well being of a fellow human being. And if people would just shut up, and help each other, rather than fight each other, there wouldn't be such a high turnover and there would be much less stress in life.
Our society is so focused on punishing those labeled criminal. God forbid someone make a mistake. If we focused on rehabilitation instead of just serving jail time, or being punished society in general would be better. I'm not saying perfect, but I truly feel like younger generations would be deterred from whatever societal ill is the problem.
And please. Stop saying society is fucked. You're part of it too, so if society is fucked up then so are you. If you want it fixed, then get up and do something about it.
