Google photos loves to remind me of when I was actually photogenic lmfao. I took this picture during one of the final festivities at Purchase College before graduation. Yesterday I went through a couple of my old big newsprint pads of figure drawings from college. #purchasecollege #alumni 🙌 Naturally Gizmo just had to help inspect 😂 unlike Marvin he didn’t attempt to eat through the pad, just wanted to sit on it. Looking at the gesture drawings and long poses brought up some interesting feelings.. for one thing, an immense amount of gratitude for my education (and to my parents for paying!!) especially the requirement of doing foundation art courses because it meant I wasn’t just doing photography! It gave me the chance to take a number of drawing courses which as it turned out, became more of my passion than photography in the years since graduating. I also realized I was and have been way too hard on myself!! I let anxiety get the upper hand for years. I used to think I was terrible at drawing, compared myself/abilities entirely too much to other people and overall lacked self confidence/worth. I’m amazed and thankful for how far I’ve come with art and my own mindset over the last decade.
