The New Avengers / Joanna Lumley as Purdey

I've mentioned not being a major fan of 1970s styles, but Purdey's wardrobe in this series is often tasteful and quirky enough to break through that prejudice. This flowing white blouse-and-skirt combo with kiss patterns on it seems very appropriate for Valentine's Day!

In some ways, it looks forward to the 1980s with the billowing drapiness of it and the dropped shoulders on the sleeves. The skirt ties with a drawstring and appears to be a wrap-around design; we occasionally see Purdey's leg through the gap where it comes together. At one point, she loses the skirt, revealing shorts of the same fabric underneath. The top also has a hood in back, but we never see her wear it up. With the outfit, she wears either beige or red sandals.

Screencaps are taken mostly from "Complex" (s2e10), but some are from "Angels of Death" (s2e2) and "K is for Kill part 2: Tiger by the Tail" (s2e9). Season 2 of The New Avengers aired in 1977.
