Man, I've only read the first book of the Grishaverse (plus Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom), so I'm not up on all the lore-- besides what they've packed into the TV show, so--
I guess I would probably put Shirayuki in Alina's position, somewhat. Lived with her grandparents, they hid her from inspectors when they came to check for grisha abilities...maybe it was even that Mukaze was a castle guard that fell in love with a heartrender, etc etc and then when they died fighting Ravka or the Fjerdans or whoever, he sent Shirayuki to live with his parents in New Ravka. So she's got mystical sun powers, which make her interesting to Prince Zen (and Raj) and the story unfold from there.
I would have to say...let's make Obi a some-odd great-grandson of the Darkling. He never "showed any aptitude" and thus wasn't trained as a Grisha...but then again, the Darkling never paid any attention to those of his blood that DIDN'T show skill...>:3c
