Hey I saw your post about your kitty and it was most probably the food that was getting to him. Science Diet is shit. Try switching him to a mixed wet food/dry food diet (we do dry in the morning/wet at night) (1/3)
and try to find foods with low grain/high protein and low ash (for the wet food). I know it's a bit expensive but buying online in bulk is a good idea. His tummy might be a bit uncomfy for a bit after the switch but in the long run he'll have less urinary problems. Our two ladies are super prone to UTIs and since switching over the fat one is less fat and they've had no problems
I've known for a while now that the Science Diet was shit, but my mum was pretty persistent about following the vet's orders. Now that I've taken him off of it and have moved back to what I was originally feeding him (Blue Wilderness dry/wet mix in morning and evening) until I can find the right diet for him, he's already improved a lot. It just kind of cemented it when he got into the cabinet broke into his kibble bag of Science Diet yesterday because I have the naughtiest cat in the world and managed a few mouthfuls before I heard him and stopped him, but he ended up having stomach issues for a couple hours after. It's definitely the food.
Do you have any suggestions on brands and such that would be good for this kind of diet? I'm really thankful for these suggestions! Our vet kept pushing a low protein diet because of the urinary issues but feedback from others seem to all be suggesting the opposite. I'm going to look around for foods that fit that, though. Thank you!
