I just got a 50 floor streak on Regretevator, but much more importantly: I got 56 stacks of The Orbs.

It was very Orbs.

Float

Bubbles float to the surface of whatever world she has spent the last thirty years in. Clutched in her paws, as always, is a purple crystalline orb. It beats, the rhythm of a determined heart, signaling that the soul contained within is alive.

All around her, trench walls loom over her ominously, trapping her in shadows. However, these shadows also provide protection, guarding her from her pursuers. In the perpetual blue twilight of this world, she must move silently and quickly.

Today, she moves at a breakneck speed. In the past few weeks, the denizens of this world have grown agitated, and they have chased her with a renewed determination, set on catching this outsider. In all the time she has been here, only one resident of this world has welcomed her, a young Poipole that goes by the name of Zero.

Zero, the ever inquisitive soul that they are, asked her about her past once. She told them about how idyllic her life had been up until then. Tales of her parents and friends in Solstice were recounted fondly. However, those cherished memories are far in the past now, replaced by the more urgent need for survival in this ethereal world, where bubbles that float upwards form stars in the eternally teal sky.

Remember that strange purple orb deep-sea scientists fought a crab for? It’s revealed itself to be a possible new species of marine slug, a pleurobranch that feeds off plankton and other microscopic organisms.

“On the E/V Nautilus, an exploration ship manned by the not-for-profit Ocean Exploration Trust, the organism’s “ball sort of unfolded into two folds”, said Susan Poulton, a spokesperson for the group, in a call from the ship.

“It revealed a foot and rhinophores, which are these ear-like structures, and you see a sort of proboscis come off the back of it,” she said. “That’s when it clearly became a gastropod of some kind.””
