To follow up on Rdm's ask, would you have any advice on finding a roleplaying FC? I know in WoW back when I RP'd there, being in a guild really helped for making connections, but I haven't the foggiest idea where I would begin to look for those sorts of things (Mateus currently, although Balmung-specific advice I'd love too since you have the personal perspective on it). But to answer your question, I would say looking at Party Finder, at least, on Balmung, there is always some FC advertisement, including my own.If there is something that catch your eye, follow the link they posted or ask the recruiter any question you might have! I find the most important thing when looking for a FC is to find a place you belong, members and themes alike. If they are a fun little group, and you feel comfortable, then I find it a lot more fun to hang out. As long as the leadership is doing their job if something would come up.
If there are no FCs advertising in game, either /shout or Party finder, you can always check; https://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forum/196-free-company-hall/ . I have little to none experience with the site, except making too many wiki pages, but here you can find some more fleshed out descriptions on the FCs that are recruiting, including rules and such.
I hope I helped, I do not have much experience with looking for FCs, I usually stay pretty long when I find a FC that suits me. Years even. But that was before I started up my own one.
