Reverse Crush
Marinette was sketching when she heard a tap on her window. She jumped and fell backward in her chair, landing painfully on her back. “C-come in,” she groaned as she struggled to catch her breath.
Chat climbed in and rushed to help her up. ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you. Are you okay?”
“Y-yeah, I’m f-fine.”
“Listen, there’s something I have to tell you.”
“S-sure.”
“You might want to sit down.” He led her over to the chaise.
What was it? Was he moving? Did he not want to be friends with her anymore? Was he dying? She couldn’t help but let an anxious expression creep onto her face.
“I’ve been meaning to tell you this for a while, but . . .” He sucked in a breath. “Ever since we met, I’ve felt this connection between us. It’s like nothing I’ve felt. And it’s only with you.” He took her hands in his and looked deep into her eyes.
His next sentence shocked Marinette to the core.
“I’m in love with you.” It was almost a whisper, gentle and caressing.
She was ecstatic. Was he serious? This was great! They could reveal their identities and get married. And get a house. And three kids. And a hamster. And a little black cat. Then the doubt crept in. This wasn’t some cruel joke, was it? Some horrible attempt at humor?
He must have seen her horrified expression because he stood up and started walking to the window. “I understand that you don’t feel the same way and I make you uncomfortable, but I had to tell you.”
“No!” Marinette stood up and grabbed his tail. When he turned to face her, she smashed her lips to his and tangled her hands in his hair.
As they stood there, the world melted away and it was just them.
One of his hands found her waist and pulled her closer, his other caressing her cheek.
His lips were soft and tasted faintly of cinnamon.
Marinette felt her knees give way and he was the only thing keeping her from falling to the ground.
He sat on the chaise and pulled her into his lap, keeping their lips pressed together.
She felt his tail wrap around her waist.
After a few minutes, they broke apart, panting. Marinette leaned her forehead against his, the tips of their noses brushing.
“You didn’t give me a chance to answer,” she said when she had caught her breath. “The reason I’m so jumpy around you is . . . I-I’m in love with you too.” She gave him a quick peck on the lips and was pulling back when he placed his hand on her cheek and pressed his lips to hers.
This time, she noticed that he smelled of- peppermint? Hmm, that was interesting. She would have thought it would be something fruity.
This time, Chat was the one to pull away and she followed his lips, yearning for another one of his intoxicating kisses.
He placed a finger to her lips. “Wait Purrincess.”
She pouted and he laughed.
He grinned at her. “I love kissing you too, Purrincess, but I need to breathe and last time I checked, so do you.”
“But I don’t want to.”
“I don’t care. If you don’t breathe, you don’t get kisses.”
“Fine. I’m breathing. Can I make out with you now?”
He threw his head back and laughed, a deep, hearty laugh. “Yes, Purrincess. I’d love to make out with you.”
She pressed her lips to his and he laughed at her eagerness, the sound muffled by her lips.
Marinette pulled away from Chat when she heard a scream. “Gurl why didn’t you tell me you were dating Chat Noir?”
