Hi Dia :D I have a question about plagiarism and writing for you! So I absolutely love your stories, you literally work so damn hard like my mind can't even wrap around hOW you manage to write over 10-20k words every time, nevertheless even over 40k! I'm so tired at just my current 2k in progress haha Anyway, so I've recently decided to pursue my writing passion here to practice my writing, but I'm so damn scared of getting plagiarised by someone.. :( how do you manage this difficulty? License?
I have to be honest with you and tell you that I’m actually a really slow writer as well. It may not seem as much with the lengthy chapters I keep putting out but it can take me forever to finish something unless I dedicate my whole time to get into it 🥺
Plagiarism has been one of the biggest challenges everyone has had to face by posting their work online and it’s hard when you can’t even expect people to have the common decency to regard writers’ wishes of not having their work reposted or copied :/
Some of the writers I know would usually do a bunch of precautions to protect their works, as do I. Posting on a few different platforms help. for example, using AO3 as a second platform since it’s the one that helps with story licensing (some writers have only been posting the full fic there and put the excerpt on their blog), or Wattpad, since a bunch of plagiarists would use the excuse of “helping to share our work there” so it’s better to get a step ahead, I guess.
Disabling the right-click option helps when you have readers opening your blog on browsers, but it doesn't always work on mobile, unfortunately.
For licensing, a few writers (including me) had used creative commons license as reference, but I suggest you read everything in it properly before using it on your blog since it could get pretty tricky :/
But, plagiarism cases aside, don’t let it get in the way of your intention of pursuing your writing passion. These things shouldn’t keep someone from doing what they love to do the most. So keep on writing, I’m sure you’ll find a way as you continue sharing your work here :)
Good luck!
