Beware the Wounds of Someone Else by Amy Earles
There is a heaviness that comes to mind in the cracked, black layers of the Victorian era. Layers of etiquette, of beaded, embroidered sleeves, a heaviness of mind in a rapidly changing world. Polite society with a strange fascination. I think of double meanings, a twist in perception. Whose wounds should you beware of? Those who wait in the netherworld or the other way round.
One of my pieces for the upcoming More Beyond show curated by the excellent artist Rebecca Reeves at Brick & Mortar Gallery.
