ah, yes. being difficult. that is actually what he is doing right now. he wasn’t going to drop anything or tell the truth. not when he has already worked this much to deny everything. not like it is working in his favor. but, listen. he is trying his best.

her sudden outburst didn’t take him much by surprise. it felt like it came very natural in the girl’s behavior. but, her knowledge is really starting to creep him out. how can such a person not even connected to him or his past know so much about him just by one look? it feels like she is always around the maze of his mind. “then tell me. if my name is not yugi muto. what exactly is it?” he didn’t even know the answer to this one. so could she know an answer that he does not know? hmm. well, he will find out soon enough. “i am not telling any lies here, maya. my name is yugi. whether you like it or not.”

“Are you for real?” This guy was worse than some witnesses on the stand. Way to make her work off the clock. It would surely be easier to just give up but unfortunately for the both of them she was just as difficult.

Why was he so fixated on getting a name anyway? She had more than proved herself. “You sure are confident in what a spirit medium should or shouldn’t be able to do. You meet a lot of those?” She was getting a bit irritated now. Did he have any idea how hard she had to work just to be able to see spirits like this?

She seemed much more hesitant than normal, likely because this wasn’t really something she should be asking the Pharaoh. He was always more focused on Dueling and finding out his past, but she felt like a change of pace was necessary. In a way, she was on the same side of things as Yugi, believing that despite not being a regular person with his own body, everyone deserved to have friends. It wasn’t healthy to be cooped up in a puzzle all the time, even if he was a spirit.

❝ I know this is gonna sound kinda weird, but I was hoping that maybe you’d want to hang out today. You don’t have to say yes, but you are kinda part of the group now. I don’t think it’s fair that we only get to see you when there’s a Duel or imminent danger. ❞

When Yugi had forced them to spend time together, Yami had opened up to her a great deal. She was able to help him with his insecurities about looking into his past and she might be able to help him work through anything else he might be going through, even if it was small. She was glad to have caught him like this while he was still out. Surely his host wouldn’t mind giving up some extra time for this.

Certainly, Anzu was shocked to hear him admit it so outwardly after their pattern of on and off. It was a thrilling ride full of emotions, but damn did her heart light up. ❝ ━━ Yeah ... I know the feeling. I didn’t mean to fall for you either. ❞ The pretty fairy stepped closer, boldly taking his hands. There was color in her pale cheeks, but she persevered through her embarrassment.

❝ ━━ But I don’t regret it for a second. ❞ Anzu leaned forward, placing a kiss on his cheek. ❝ ━━ I don’t wanna wait anymore. It doesn’t matter to me what the stakes might be. I ... I love you and I’m willing to fight to make this work. ❞ When those words were spoken, her eyes drifted away from him for a moment when she realized the gravity of what was just said. Things hadn’t been easy between the two of them, but there were few as determined as Anzu, especially when it came to her goals.

Her heart had been beating for him for so long that knowing what it felt like to kiss him, to hold him, but not being able to call him hers was like a form of torment. Instead of holding out hope, it was time to take action and take hold of what was in her reach before it was lost once more. No more passive aggressive comments, no more pouting; she was putting everything on the line. Gently cupping his cheek, she searched those fierce hues for answers.
