There was something about hearing the words come out of Nairobi’s mouth that made Tokyo’s heart ache even more. Of course she knew… but hearing her say it was almost more than she could handle. And although Tokyo was ecstatic to see Nairobi again, nothing could fill the hole in her heart. She’d sent Rio to hell. Poor, precious, innocent Rio… why had she ever decided to leave in the first place? She hated herself for it more and more with each passing day.
“I know…” Tokyo was going to say something else, but she couldn’t continue, not without the fear of breaking down again. She’d done that too much already. “I need a fucking drink.” Standing up, Tokyo held out a hand to Nairobi. “Come on… just like the good old days, right?”
