what's that glowing box in your room?
a sort of lamp that was originally a sculpture project, reappeared in another eventually. originally, it was hung out from a wall like an animal bust/shoulders, or looking like it was coming through the wall in the dark. it had incense lit inside, hummed a very low note, and threw wild lines of light on the wall from cracks in the white box. the title, curio(u)s, is meant to connect the idea of curio shops, that sell the rare and unusual and sometimes flawed renders of indescribable things. in light he’s just some painted wood and fleece and lights that run off batteries, but at night it’s something coming through a wall in the dark, smoking and angular and fuzzy. you look again and see light thrown in wild lines as a car drives by and the room is empty. he’s friendly. the strange and unknown isn’t dangerous, we should be curious.
