Dude isnt it kinda impressive? a CD project that got this huge? otomate often puts most into their otome making it all big visual novels(with more common used themes)~ their CD seemed more for lower budget ideas that were different than usual but got quite the attention with just the announcement trailer
It really is, and it got really popular really fast and now it’s gonna get not one but three manga series at once! I hope the popularity only grows more and more because I can have hope for an anime someday, heh. Other things that seem to have more investment don’t get this far sometimes, but I guess HypMic is getting big because it’s different and new, it’s not like all the other musical projects (that are mostly idol stuff) out there.
to how far do you use references for your work? i wonder because recently ive learned to paint human but as beginner with paint i heavily rely on a reference and i want to be able to turn something into a thing of my own~ do you sometimes use pictures to create something original out of it?
if you’re just starting out, definitely use a lot of references. As much as you can, just to build up your visual library. Of course, it’s good to want to turn something into your own, but you can only do that when you’ve got something to turn into, if that makes sense. Build up your technique through practice so you can be more free with it and art in general.
As for me, I use references secondarily. I rarely use a picture to create something original out of it, it’s more like, if I have trouble with drawing a boat, I’ll gather many pictures of boats to look at and see how they work and how they’re put together so I know how to draw them. I don’t completely copy, though, because that’s no fun haha
collar x malice will release soon in west and seeing period cube the price might raise up to 50euros for digital only ~ is the game worth that?
Hello(●´ω`●)
Personally, the price wasn’t a factor that I considered when purchasing the game. I liked the genre and the characters, also the art was stunning. It’s something that I liked and wanted from the moment they released information about it. I like mystery solving games so that was like the ultimate bait that could not be ignored for me, but again this is something personal.
I can’t decide whether a game is worth getting or not for you personally, or anyone else. I can’t judge for other people, because it’s not my decision to make.
If it’s just the price that you’re worried of, you can wait for a sale on PSN or on the official localisation company’s website. If your decision or the weight of the game’s worth is determined by certain aspects of the game, then you could wait for some reviews or other people’s input after they’ve played it a little bit.
Ultimately this is your own money, I can’t, and I don’t want to tell you how to spend your money. It’s up for you to decide whether or not to buy it.
What I can only do is give my first impression and what I felt when I completed it.
I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a straightforward answer, but I really don’t want to tell you to get it or not just because of my own opinions, that’d just be too bias in my eyes.
hello ~ i was wondering if you could give some advice on learning anatomy? like how useful is it to learn where the bones and organs are placed? since a bit recent i got quite motivated to actually go for realism instead of limiting myself to the more anime/cartoon style and been studying where the bones are and how they would look underneath skin and such.. but its quite difficult to learn all of it
Hi!! And sure, I’ll try to help :) I’m still learning myself, but I’ll tell you what I know so far.
Yes, you’re right to say that it’s difficult to learn the whole body, but don’t worry, just keep at it and it’ll get easier the more you practice. As always, use reference while studying to see how the bones/muscles look like with skin covering it, in addition to how they look like without. References are there to help you, so make use of them.
Bones are very important, they provide landmarks/places that can be used to identify the surrounding muscles with protrusions or indentions, etc.. The skeleton is also the frame of the body, and that should be done right in order to allow the muscles to be drawn in correctly.
Here’s a pic I pulled off the web that shows the skeletal landmarks.
The basic idea is that once you see a landmark, you can use it to fill in the muscles that lie around it, and your placement of the muscles will be more or less accurate. Here’s an example, focusing on the acromion process, the top outer part of the scapula which connects to the clavicle:
find the acromion process...
and know that that’s where the deltoids go. They attach to the process. And another reason why landmarks are so helpful is that they’re visible on all body types: thin, muscular, fat, etc. It’s super simplified (due to a time constraint on my end lol) so I would look up more examples.
If I were you, I’d learn the body in parts, not the whole thing at once. This helps to better solidify what you learn and keeps you from getting overwhelmed. The order I learned it in was
proportion > skeleton > muscle > outer appearance
of
chest > abdominal > upper arms > back > forearms > upper legs > lower legs > hands > feet > neck
As for organs, personally, I have never had to think about the location of those before, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that knowing the general placement of organs can’t hurt, but I also wouldn’t worry about them too much and in addition, I would only worry about muscles that you can see on the surface. I don’t think you’d have to go so far in and learn every single muscle.
And again, I am not a pro, I am not specialized in anatomy, so take from this post what you will and make sure to not rely on me 100%. Don’t assume that my word is completely correct. From my experience, it’s better to learn from a qualified teacher, and at the very least, have another pair of eyes look over your work to spot any mistakes. Not to say that everything I wrote in this post is completely wrong, just it’s healthy to practice skepticism :)
apologies for the long post. I hoped it help at least a little!
Oh and here’s a really good anatomy book that I recommend
Figure Drawing For All It’s Worth by Andrew Loomis
yeh one is called ID-0 which is said to be "for cosplayers" seems to be mecha idk ~ the other i forgot it was something about a light novel from years ago
I’ll probably at least like them aesthetically, Range is amazing.
