“So you’re Robert, huh?” The man loomed over her, but Roxanne had the home field advantage. He was waiting for her room mate to get ready-- and they’d long had a routine worked out for new boyfriends.
Roxanne had a sneaking suspicion that this broad shouldered fellow wasn’t some guy Helen had met at the library. But secret identities were important, so she wouldn’t pry just yet. Not everyone could be like Metro Man-- with his identity public and all.
“I’m Roxanne-- Helen’s wife.” She chuckled after using the phrase. “I kid-- but we’re practically married. Best friends. Roommates. We share everything.”
Gesturing to the couch, she settled in a chair across from him. Helen would take as much time as Roxanne needed to properly vet this pretty boy.
“Where are you taking her tonight? Nowhere with shellfish on the menu, I hope. I’ve got a pretty acute allergy and we take that sort of stuff pretty seriously around here.” She leaned forward in her chair, hands coming together. “What would you say is your greatest weakness, Robert? Can’t dance? Bad at karaoke? Secretly a criminal mastermind?”
