Didn't Henry and Charlotte both assume they were in an arranged marriage? (Or did they just assume that it was loveless) xx

They assumed they were in one, but then they realized they loved each other, but it was still used as a plot device. For them to assume this, it can’t be so unlikely in the Shadow World for things like this to happen, especially in the 1800′s. It just don’t make sense for this to have never happen to the shadowhunters. They’re dying out and we’re supposed to believe that the Clave is going to just let that happen? These guys are assholes and don’t care who you love: they have a world to protect. So the idea of arranged marriage being necessary to breed more shadowhunters actually FITS into what we know of the Shadow World. 

Sorry I ranted there but this entire thing is so annoying because people act like this old-fashioned, homophobic society that is desperate for more warriors would never force people to marry so they could better protect the world.
