Will you ever tell us more about Kira teaching Pyrhai about braiding? Because that sounds cute even if Kira normally keeps her hair short.
thanks for the ask!! I'd love to :D (here's the image that this came from!)
With all the pressure of being the Hero of Tython and the whole Mess that is the jedi knight storyline, Pyrhai usually has a lot of stress to deal with - plus, she naturally has a lot of energy, which isn't a great combo at the best of times. Usually, her go-to-method is just sparring or training it out, but that isn't exactly a great idea when shes hurt, or already exhausted (she's definitely been scolded more times than she can count by Doc whenever she tries). Kira, when she found out (not that it was that big of a secret, anyways) wanted to help, because at this point I'd like to think Pyrhai and her had become pretty good friends. Originally, Kira had done some basic research on Togruta culture, and found that there were some simple weaving and braiding styles that seemed simple and mind numbing enough to potentially help Pyrhai de-stress- and they did! Their ship slowly gained more baskets and rugs and the like over time, making it feel more and more like a home, and helped Pyrhai connect a little more to her heritage.
The hair braiding itself came from a really long, hard mission, where they ran out of weaving supplies and were all recovering from some nasty injuries. Pyrhai was not having a good day, and Kira offered to let her braid her hair (even though it's pretty short). A while later and Kira's hair was all done up into short braids (with varying levels of messiness and sticky-up-ness), tied with pretty much anything Pyrhai could find and honestly looking like a godawful mess. Even though Kira had kinks in her hair for a good couple days afterwards, it became a bonding activity, or I guess a ritual, for the two after that? Pyrhai was fascinated by hair in general, and it felt really nice to play with, and Kira enjoyed the sensory input and the time they were able to spend just...being.
Moving into KOTFE, in my legacy, Pyrhai is one of four Outlanders (the others being Veeroth, Kemeri, and Lin'riha - who I think I've all introduced at some point?), and after being unfrozen, she was... Pretty sensory deprived, stressed, and was really missing her old crew. After a few days of trying to manage all that on her own, she finally caved and asked Kemeri if she could braid his hair (especially since it was so?? long?? which she had never really been able to play with before and also they maybe needed to bond a little bit if they were in this together? It's also worth noting that she only really felt comfortable with actually asking him because they had worked together before, and there's nothing like the imminent threat of death that helps along bonding - and there was really only a small selection of people that she knew at this point, and Veeroth's hair was too short (and he was the Wrath - which seems silly knowing that Kemeri was Cipher 9 but it's different shush), Theron and Lana were always so busy, and Lin'riha didn't even have hair to braid). Kemeri's not a very open person generally (besides sometimes when he was with his own companions), and had been closing off more and more in the wake of the whole escape thing. I'm not exactly sure how exactly I want it to go, but this was a critical point that really helped Kemeri open up a little bit more, and on Pyrhai's end, it was a helpful coping method and a way for her to really make a friend who wouldn't see her as just an "Outlander." It also helped to deal with not having much of her crew around while she watched others reunite, since it, lore-wise, takes a lot longer for knights to get a lot of their companions back in comparison to most other classes (minus T7 my beloved).
thanks for the ask again, this was really fun!! feel free to send more, i'm starting to love these lore expansion posts :D
