Okay! My first ramble! Ima talk about surprisingly pyromania!
(The psychological factors and how amazing it is for story telling!)
So pyromania is an intensely interesting topic since the BASIC definition of pyromania is and I quote ‘an obsessive desire to set fire to things’
Which though true is leaving out everything interesting about it! Since from at least from what I learned the reason pyromaniacs even set the fires in the first place is because when they light up a fire of any sorts it gives an almost emotional release. Calms their anxiety, paranoia, and the such for a minor amount of time until they need to do so again
They would instantly be attracted to fires they see or at least give it a glance and a satisfied sigh. They would gain some positive emotions from even looking at the fires
Basically pyromania isn’t just ‘fire go brrrr’ (that’s arson, they’re actually quite different! Since arson is an act for personal, political, or monetary gain!) pyromania is lighting fires for the euphoria and tension release!
(Oddly did you know most cases of pyromania the person with it commonly is lacking a father figure?)
Now I bet your wondering how this would be cool in stories, but god the conflicts could be way more interesting! Since pyromaniacs do this for the tension release imagine our 2-3 hero’s are up against someone, but tensions getting high.
Now think about it, just them beginning to breath heavily, trying to find something to burn without harming people but when they realize the only things they could burn to release all of these emotions and lent up anxiety are right next to their friends.
Or someone one day asks why they started another forest fire and the pyro explains the best they can how it feels. even pyro villains would be cooler if you took into consideration on how pyromania works! Like the villain seems like they would burn anymore buildings but people start yelling at the ‘villain’, making them scared, tense? They find a single match stick and box? And that scene ending with it describing their smile as they see the fire slowly corner them?
(Another odd thing there’s another version of pyromania which is pyrophillia, basically gaining sexual gratification from starting and looking at fires, it’s quite rare)
Please remember that I’m not a official source of information! And I recommend looking up actual creditable sources if you desire to know more about pyromania!
Elrond’s absolute favourite way of killing is by fire. by burning his enemies alive. Could be his hand in their chest or impaling them with a piece of his claymore, heating it up that way.
Elrond doesn’t get many chances to do such a thing on main because it’s cruel and he knows its cruel.
Heating himself up to boiling point was his way, as a child, of preventing Maedhros and Maglor, at the time only known as killers and bad people, from carrying him and Elros from their hiding spot. It was always out of fear and unwillingness to be handled. Elrond also burned Gil-galad or Lindon’s guards multiple times when they wanted to catch him. When Elrond knew and could control his powers, then he used it as a tool to attack. As a way to replace the trauma with something that was more functional. Elrond will get rather uncomfortable if confronted with how malevolent such a way of killing is. He really does not want to care or explain.
He may still get flashbacks to the time he was afraid for his and Elros’ lives against Maedhros and Maglor. This is akin to infant developmental trauma and something that is really difficult to grow out of, but Elrond gets better at rationalizing his memories and emotions as the Ages wear on.

( tw: pyromania )
- Ansley began going by Luna when she was six years old during a lesson in astronomy. At some point, her teacher mentioned the word “lunar,” which sparked the young girls interest.
- Around the same time as the lunar incident, Luna first began to develop an interest in the world of science. Her love of fire and aptitude for math translated well into chemistry, which she quickly grew fond of.
- Despite having all the qualities of a typical nerd, Luna rarely acts like it. She is loud and unpredictable, unable to handle commitment or strong emotions, and is an all-around mess. The only aspect of her personality that fits with the stereotypical nerd is that she’s hopelessly awkward in her attempts to connect with most people.
- Luna grew up in a traditionally christian household, but has no such beliefs and is, in fact, quite the opposite. She prefers the factual world of science and evolution and is generally too wild(e) to be considered a proper christian lady.
- As a child, Luna would often hunt down boxes of matches and hide behind the house to play with them. This lead to quite a few incidents before her parents finally took her to a psychologist who diagnosed her with pyromania–Luna still calls crap.
- The aforementioned aptitude for science and math meant that Luna grew up far ahead of her classmates (in these particular areas) and has been taking honors/advanced courses for as long as she’s been able to.
