it's interesting because Second son shipped with the PS4 and you can really get a sense that the game was designed with the controller in mind. Things like the spray painting, finger scanning, and other touchpad uses are all super intuitive. Super impressive to get it so right out of the gate.

yeah definitely! i love it when games manage to cleverly utilize all of a console’s functions in a way that doesn’t feel awkward or forced; it really gets you immersed in the game cause of how much you can do. and like you mentioned before, i was so thrilled w the spray painting mechanic like how awesome was that! props to whoever thought of using the controller like an aerosol can

i also really loved how they used the speakers on the controller too, with delsin’s ringtone and the spray painting sfx <3

Oh noooo. Well, it's not a secret that I have like a major boner for Handsome Jack. I have a thing for antagonists. More often than not, I get to like them more than the protagonist because you see more of them, because you aren't them. I don't think many games have you play as an antagonist because then you don't feel the satisfaction of taking them down and/or out.

My love isn't like, just because he's hot (but he's definitely attractive, fuck off). There's a few genres of villains that aren't used very much--more often than not in fiction, what I've come across are villains who have been spited by life and turn sour as a result. Or people doing their job are portrayed as the antagonist and you set out to change the world because the structure it is currently is turmoil in nature. And that is all that is there to them. Their character is straight up ‘evil’. They enjoy what they do (or don’t) and relish in it, acknowledging that what they are doing is wrong--and having no remorse for it.

What I love about Jack is that he thinks he's the hero 100%--and that’s why he doesn’t second guess what he’s putting the people of Pandora through. He thinks they all deserve it--and thus doesn’t feel bad for it. I don't think he thinks what he's doing is wrong for even a second (and it is). While in BL2 he definitely has gone off the deep end, TPS does one thing right and (makes Lilith more of the bad guy than Jack) shows that he truly had some decent intentions before his corruption (which... power is good at doing. Oh, and betrayal. Lilith’s a bitch).

His entire goal is to make Pandora a better place and... well, the Vault Hunters pretty much drive him off a cliff slowly but surely, starting from TPS (all the way up to you murdering his daughter, assholes) to BL2.

Either way, he’s extremely charismatic, even while being arrogant. He’s extremely nonchalant and childish (Butt Stallion, bruh). A gross ‘hero’ who spoons people’s eyes out. He’s self-absorbed and wants everyone to worship him--but who wouldn’t have a hero complex after taking in so many important positions and (in his head) trying to make a shithole a better place? But he never once thinks he is the villain here. He only falls off the deep end because he is tired of the Vault Hunters’ attempts at stopping his heroic deeds. Saving the world essentially. He thinks we’re the evil ones and need to be stopped at all costs.

And I love that, if only because you get to see him spiral into desperation and madness the further you go.
