I probably have to give a lot of the credit for her evolution as a character to you, liivetoday/sserpentiine/ardeth-bae, thelispingpharaoh, pythiian, and jaiwilcox. Some of it has been by talking through the character (and interactions/headcanons/relationships) with me in messages (and to those I message most regularly, I profusely apologize. You know who you are. haha), and then some of it has been actual interaction between characters, here on tumblr and elsewhere. 

Regardless, the evolution of the character is definitely in large part thanks to you guys, so thank you! ^_^ //

THAT'S THE THING. people undervalue how much of a character study it was, just this spyglass on all these political and ethical issues playing out and how you were forced to make black & white decisions to drive home how grey theyactually were one of the things that bugged me about origins was that with a high enough charisma check you could resolve a century-long conflict for the sake of your army. yes, the plot was grander and conflict bigger but the people were less developed, less raw

THANK YOU !!!  that’s such a beautiful & accurate summary of how i feel about the Best Game debate, honestly.  origins is wonderful too, don’t get me wrong??  all those different stories to lead you in to the main plot, & slowly building up from zeroes to heroes with a group of diverse & complicated people who didn’t always get along...............but dragon age 2 was so beautiful as a social commentary & character study (&, personally, my favourite story), with a group of EVEN MORE complicated people, each who started from below zero, honestly, & grew into heroes yes, but also heroes for themselves.  that’s so important to me.  they didn’t go into it all to save the world, they literally fell into the gaping hole of conflict kirkwall was inevitably going to turn into.  & hawke brought them together to be the band of misfit friends who played wicked grace every friday (or equivalent thereof), & i just ! ! !! !  ugh, it’s so beautiful.

it really was a grey, grey game, & i found that refreshing after origins for the reasons you listed above.  idk each game is distinctly different from the other in that one way or another ??  so why not appreciate each game for what it is, you know ???  a.k.a., i want people to stop bashing dragon age 2 for not being origins 2.0, because i’m heavily biased & adore the fuck out of that game. :||||||
