O Juliet: I will write about my character’s feelings for yours.
So whose this girl? Asks the nosy nurse from work that nobody likes, showing Steven an older picture of him and Sofia that she had snooped on Facebook. “She’s a friend. Someone I used to date.” You guys were a cute couple. She’s like way too pretty for you though. He snuffed a laugh. “We were good together. We were a very practical kind of couple–the kind that made us look like old people who had been together forever. But there wasn’t anything exciting about it anymore.” Is that why you broke up? “Not really… but then again, I guess so. It was part of it. That and because we were both in critical times in our careers so we didn’t have time for each other anymore.” That’s sad. “Yeah… I guess it is.”
Value Me: I’ll write a drabble about my character telling yours how they feel about them.
Late on a Friday night, Steven attended a fundraising event for a local charity. He had reluctantly gone stag because of the last minute plans. Before he knew it, one of the guests at the event had gotten him a little too tipsy. Steven took a cab back to his house and was in the process of undressing when his phone fell from his back pocket. Picking it up, he crossed his thumb over the screen to unlock it and dialed her number. Hello? “Hey… it’s me. I may or may not have gotten hammered at this fundraising event tonight. Does that make me a bad person? I feel like it does… anyway, I don’t know why I’m calling… just thought of you. What’re you doing?… I wish you were here right now. We could chat and lay next to each other. You know, hang out like we used to. That was fun times right? Yeah–well, sorry to wake you up. K. I’ll be fine… just, ok… good night.”
« : memory from the past with your character
“This house looks nice. Four bedrooms, three bath, two car garage. Yard looks pretty open. What do you think about this one?” He showed her the paper ad with the picture of the home he was looking into buying. Yeah, it’s okay. Steven folded the paper back up and tossed it on the counter. Are you angry or something? “No… I am just unsure what you want right now…” What do you mean? “That house is perfect for us.” It’s a nice house. “Yeah… I don’t know… do you want to live together? I thought we had decided that was the next step for us but… now you’re sending me strange vibes, I just can’t tell if you want to anymore. We never talk about it.” I don’t know either. “Well I’m not going to buy a house for us under the impression of I don’t know.” Okay well then don’t. Steven stared blankly at her. “Don’t…? Because?” Because we don’t know what is going to happen.
