there are many things i love about coco and qifrey's relationship, but one of the main things about their dynamic that really appeals to me is the way that qifrey handles coco's guilt — especially following the silverwood reveal.

this page in particular really gets to me, as we've been shown time and time again how much coco worries about burdening others — something accentuated by her early conflicts with the other students. she doesn't have to worry about being a burden or worrying qifrey, because qifrey is in a position where being worried quite literally keeps him alive.

qifrey's always there to remind coco that she's allowed to be a kid, and that she doesn't have to live in constant guilt and self punishment over what she's done.

it wasn't her fault, she couldn't have known better — she doesn't deserve to be constantly suffering over a mistake that any child in her position would have made.

she couldn't have known that magic was dangerous, and qifrey is there to provide her with comfort and support whenever the guilt threatens to drown her. for a child in her shoes, it clearly means the world to her.
