The Theatre Ghost wishes you a Happy Halloween!
October 31 2008
It was a cold, miserable afternoon in the library penthouse of the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries, the week before finals. Students, studious in their studies, studied hard amidst the rows of books and collections hand-shaped chairs. BUT ALAS! Borne from the darkest depths of this creative tower's Butohic basement, A mischievous spirit springs forth to disrupt these geese in their smooth studious flight, and to remind them that even the most intensely focused and high-achieving students need to relax every now and then. Behold: the QACI Theatre Ghost!

Valentine.
what was your extended essay topic and for what subject?
a comparison of the costuming and prosthesis from alice in wonderland (1999) and alice in wonderland (2010) and how it effected the story telling. it was under vis art even though it's super filmy, i guess i got away with it because it was based on aesthetic! i also focussed a lot on john tenniels illustrations from the book which helped heaps in my accidental A (i am too proud not to mention that because i got told i would barely pass hehehehe)
what did you have in your portfolio when you went to the interview? sorry I might be trying out for QACI and just want to know what I should put into my portfolio and stuff also did you find the exam test thing hard?
ohhh haha i see i see. mine was so long ago (i've already graduated) so whatever i went through might not be very relevant anymore, i was in the first lot of new students to ever go to the school so i imagine there was a bit more leniency for us since the amount of applications was pretty small.
the exam for me was first and i think every student from the academies does it. i don't remember it being very hard at all! it's just an aptitude test so it's just gathering your basic intelligence i guess.
my portfolio was just a whole bunch of sketches i'd done and some paintings and what not. i took some of them in for my interview but most of them were printed on a disc for them to view, i think i mailed it to them way beforehand because they ask for it earlier. i think the interview was way more "difficult" only because it was kinda daunting at the time and i was so worried about not getting in but if you're really passionate about art/your chosen subject and have a lot of knowledge and skill at it they will love you!
what arts thing did you do at QACI?
arts thing as in arts subject? i studied film in grade 10 and probably should have continued with it since i did really well, but i studied art because it was what i came to qaci for / am in love with.
did you get above 31 for your IB diploma?
neg, i got 30 which is an op 9
