Sounding Out Composers Collective 2011
Rose Arbour Ellen Dutton Performed by Hannah Smart
May 28 2009
New Music - Composition Concert Ian Hanger Recital Hall The Queensland Conservatorium of Music
Written for solo flute, Rose Arbour takes a contemporary approach to notation and timbre for a single line, using same-note trills, feathered beams and an ambiguous tonality to create an unusual but warm sound. The piece was inspired by a tea process of the same name: hot water is poured over a flower blossom, which unfolds slowly. It is a slow, yet captivating process, the essence of which Rose Arbour intended to capture.
As part of the Q150 celebrations in 2009, Composition students at the Queensland Conservatorium wrote dance pieces to be performed at the C&K children's concert on December 6, 2009.
This is a collection of Midi excerpts from one of Ellen Dutton's works, Charleston.
This piece was later used as "Lively waiting-room music" in a short film, The Service.

The Theatre Ghost wishes you a Happy Halloween!
October 31 2008
It was a cold, miserable afternoon in the library penthouse of the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries, the week before finals. Students, studious in their studies, studied hard amidst the rows of books and collections hand-shaped chairs. BUT ALAS! Borne from the darkest depths of this creative tower's Butohic basement, A mischievous spirit springs forth to disrupt these geese in their smooth studious flight, and to remind them that even the most intensely focused and high-achieving students need to relax every now and then. Behold: the QACI Theatre Ghost!
