Hi I'm new in the QAF fandom.. I just wanna let you know that I love your blog! Do you have a list of your favorite QAF fics?
Welcome! It’s so rare to find new QAF stans these days. I’m so glad you love my blog, thank you!
As for favourite fics, I’m glad you asked. Here come the recs.
Firstly, here is my holy grail of qaf fics ao3 collection. This is a good place to start.
Since QAF is quite an old fandom, a lot of the iconic fics have either been lost to the void of time or have been saved onto various random sites.
Luckily, as I was so desperate for good material, I scrounged through the web and managed to find archived copies of some of the best fics in history. I will rec my favorite ones - based on how well they are written, how in-character they are, and how much serotonin they give me.

Unfortunately, many other great fics on qafcaps.com have been lost due to the server expiring, so this is all I have. Hopefully, one day someone can retrieve them! Hope this list brightens your day :)
HELLO. I am wondering if you / your followers who are Britin enjoyers have any access to ohmyjetsabel’s LJ fics? They were the author who wrote “Glowing Rooms” (a masterpiece you recommended)… they have more Britin stuff but it’s been lost and I have a deep ache to read their fics beyond Glowing Rooms and since u still have the BJ recs list up I was wondering if perhaps anyone of your followers have some access to them
Hey! So I found this link to her LJ site that has two of her other B/J fics, but they are unfinished. I don't know if she has written other Britin fics aside from these. Also, you need a Live Journal account to access them. I'm not sure if it will work, but give it a try! That is the best I could do. Sadly I couldn't find anything else on the web.
Hi! I noticed that you had a pdf of rhiannonhero’s fanfic in your BJ masterlist rec and I am just wondering if you have links to any more of their work? I’m trying to read their old fic “My Arms” since it seemed to be a staple for a lot of BJ fic readers in these old forums im lurking on but it seems to be lost on the web… just thought to ask (:
Hi! I think this is the fic you are looking for?:
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the
Organization for Transformative Works
So, this is probably a long shot, but I'm looking for an old QAF fic. It was set in like some like medieval time, I think. Brian was the king of some kingdom, and he married Justin in an arranged marriage. I was just wondering if maybe you knew the title of the fic or maybe what happened to it. I figured asking was worth a shot.
Hi! I've looked around for a while and this fic is the only thing I found: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7929924/1/Captivated
Hello! I used to be very into QAF when it was on TV. I was looking for a piece of fiction wherein Brian and Justin engage in double penetration and I can't seem to find it. Was it by burnitbackwards? I cannot for the life of me find it. Let me know if you could possibly recommend. I appreciate it!
Hi! I'm sorry for the late reply. I have searched for a fic like this by burnitbackwards but I can't seem to find it. However I did find this fic by rhiannonhero called 'Incarnadine.' Is this the one you were looking for?
Hi there. I found your big QAF fic rec list on a random search the other day and I was hoping you might be able to help me find a fic? I saw it on another rec list on an author website and the link doesn't work anymore. And the author has made their live journal friends only and I don't have an LJ account. Anyways, it's called "In Between Days" by rachel anton or sparkledark, that's the LJ account name. Thank you in advance!
You have come to the right place! Honestly, I didn't have high hopes on finding this one as the only link has expired (being from 2005), but I FOUND IT on the wayback machine, where it had been captured once in 2008.
3 months ago, Sarah sent me a prompt with the words “Don’t listen to them. Don’t you EVER listen to them” and the character Debbie from Queer As Folk. So, here is (finally) my fic ^^
I chose Ted to interact with her and it takes place shortly after he finished rehab (so season 4).
Hope you’ll enjoy it, dear. This will just further strenghten my title as the “Debbie fic writer” of the fandom :p
Ted was walking down the street, his head bent and his fists clenched in his pockets, his brain full of the events from the past hour. “We're looking for someone more reliable”, they said. “We need to be sure that we can trust you”, they went on. Well, not giving that person a shot certainly doesn't help. Not giving them any credit for trying to turn their life around and repair their mistakes does not help rebuilding their self-confidence either. The interview he just had with the accounting manager from this little store didn't go well. It was the third one this week. Always the same excuse: Ted's credentials didn't matter in the face of his troubled past. Having been through rehab clearly overshadowed any of his accomplishments in the past. How can a junkie be trusted, right? Who in their right mind would hire a crack-head? These people, by thinking they're covering their asses, didn't realize they were actually pushing Ted back into the darkness. Every interview that went wrong made him want to use again to forget his sense of uselessness and dull this feeling of rejection. How could he possibly think about a brighter future if no one wants to give him a chance? Sure, he knew that making everything right would take a long time and he would have to struggle, but he didn't expect the constant refusals to hit him this hard. But then again, he has always been a softie at heart, using sarcasm and humor to cover his inner fragility.
So, it was in the middle of this internal crisis that he entered the Liberty Diner. He sat at the bar, put his folded hands on the counter and exhaled sharply, his eyes closed. He didn't even notice when, a few seconds later, Debbie came to stand in front of him, offering him a cup of warm coffee.
“What's going on, honey? Something's clearly bothering you.”
Ted finally lifted his head to look at her. She had a small smile and her face reflected both an expression of worry as well as wanting to be reassuring. He let down his gaze again, slightly shaking his head.
“I... I don't want to bother you.”
“Bother me? Don't be ridiculous. Since when have I ever been bothered by other people's troubles?”
He chuckled a bit at her response.
“Well, when I came here after I got out of rehab, no one particularly felt like being in the same room and listening to me, so...”
“Oh, honey...”, she said softly placing a hand on his arm, “I'm really sorry about that. It's not that I wanted to avoid you, I swear, but the Diner was really busy and you know how the customers are when they don’t get their meat fast enough.” She smiled at him, looking clearly apologetic, and Ted placed his hand on hers, squeezing her fingers.
“I know... I didn't mean to sound accusing. It's just... I've had a really hard week.”
“Okay, then tell me about it. You know, I love you like a son. I love all of you. And you can always come to me if you're ever in need to talk.”
Ted, moved by her words, gave her a small grin. She was, indeed, kind of the mother hen of their group. Always feeding and consoling everyone. He exhaled slowly again, and agreed to tell her.
“Okay.”
Debbie leaned back a little, grabbed a stool and took a seat, prepared to listen to his story.
“So, for the past week, I've been looking for a job. It's one of the first things you need to do when you get out because it's a very important step in order to get your life together.”
She nodded, listening intently.
“I've had three interviews so far, all of them for small accounting jobs that I could basically do in my sleep, and let's just say none of them went very well...”
“Let me guess”, she said, chewing her gum, “They were jerks, huh?”
Ted snickered. “Yeah, that for sure they were.”
She went on: “I imagine they completely dismissed your resume and simply told you that you weren't right for the job?”
“Well, it's more than that, actually. They didn't even bother to try and be subtle, they just came right out and told me that I can't be trusted.”
She gasped loudly, exasperated. “Can't be trusted, my ass! Do they not recognize the strenght people like you have for going through rehab and coming out the other end still whole?”
Ted opened his hands, showing her he didn't know the answer. “Apparently not. The guy from this morning told me that my past as a drug user clearly showed that I wasn't a reliable person. And after hearing the same tune over and over again, I'm starting to think they might be right...”
To this, Debbie slammed her fist against the table before pointing her finger at Ted.
“Don't listen to them. Don't you EVER listen to them, you hear me?” Her stare was full of anger and determination. The kind of stare that could smite anyone in place if you ever dared to cross her. “These people are just plain ignorant. And you absolutely should not let them get to you.” She relaxed a bit, softening her gaze. Ted, who was terrified at first at her reaction, let her words sink in. He had straightened his back against the chair and remained motionless, letting her continue. “Ted, you are a good man. You just went through a hard time. You reached the bottom but you managed to rebuild yourself because you knew you were better than that.” His eyes were starting to water, and he just looked at her, speechless. “Trust me, sweetheart, you're not damaged forever and things will get better. But only if you persist and don't let other people drag you down.” She was smiling now, the kind of magical healing smiles that she particularly knows how to give. He was still taken aback by her words, which touched his very soul.
“I... Okay. Sorry, I will never listen to them again.”
Debbie nodded firmly. “Good. Now, I'm gonna tell you what you're gonna do now.”
He loosened his muscles at last, and put his hands back on the table. “What's that?”
She pushed the cup of coffee closer to him. “You're gonna drink your coffee, shut up and relax while I tell you all about the latest gossip to clear your mind of this nonsense.”
He chuckled, actually amused at the idea, and it felt great. For the first time since the past few days, he could see a light at the end of the tunnel. And that was because of Debbie and her frighteningly encouraging words.
He gave her a warm, grateful smile. “Thank you, Debbie.”
She winked in response. “You're welcome, honey.”
Then he took a sip of his coffee and waited for the gossips in question to begin.
“So, Kiki was out the other night, and she met this guy...”
A prompt for you, as promised - #32 and Justin Taylor (or any other QaF character(s) of your choosing) :)
Okay missy, I’ve finally done it! :D Sorry for the wait. I just didn’t bring myself to write something sooner. But now was the perfect time because it’s holiday themed ^^ It’s quite simple and I definetely don’t deserve any prize for what I’ve written, but I hope you’ll enjoy it.
There it is:
Justin Taylor (and Brian) with the words “open your eyes”:
It’s December 25th in Pittsburgh. The gang is supposed to regroup at Debbie’s house at 1 to savour a colossal Christmas meal which consists of nine courses. Debbie went all out. She intends to stuff everyone with deliciousness.
Justin came home from New York the day before and he spent a quiet night in with Brian. They hadn’t seen each other for two months. Let’s just say that they hardly got out of the bedroom.
Justin woke up around eleven. He made sure to be as quiet as possible since he wanted to surprise Brian with his gift. He approched the kitchen counter where his luggage was and lifted a portfolio. He then walked to the living room and placed it on the table. He opened it carefully, checking if the drawing wasn’t harmed, and added a little red bow on it before smiling with satisfaction.
That’s only when he started to prepare the coffee that he heard Brian beginning to stir in the sheets. He was waking up. The blond boy calmly poured the coffee in their mugs when he felt his lover’s arm softly surrounding his waist. The tall man nuzzled against Justin’s hair and said in a drowsy voice:
“Good morning, sunshine.”
The artist responded with a grin and put his arm around Brian’s waist as well.
“Good morning and Merry Christmas, Mr. Kinney.”
He stood on his toes to come closer to his face and kissed him tenderly.
“Mmm, coffee. Good.”
They both started sipping their beverage in appreciation. A nice cup of strong coffee was the best after a long crazy and naughty night.
Justin finally broke the silence.
“I have a gift for you.”
Brian raised an eyebrow and gave him a wry smile.
“I thought you already took care of that last night.”
The young man shook his head and laughed.
“Not that kind of a gift, though that’s a given.”
The other shrugged.
“Then, what is it?”
“Okay, I know you told me not to spend any money on you…”
“Wait, wait, wait.” His lover cut him. “I never said I didn’t want you to spend money. I remember clearly saying that if your gift didn’t come from Prada or Armani, you could keep your money.”
Justin laughed again.
“Mr. Kinney, always so demanding.”
“Well, you know me.” he answered with a smile.
“No, I didn’t get you anything from Prada or Armani, but I came up with a pretty good compromise.”
Brian opened his hands in surrender.
“Fine. What is it?”
The blond came to stood in front of him and took his hands.
“Close your eyes.” The other sighed but finally did it. “Follow me.”
Justin grasped one of Brian’s hand and pulled him behind him. He led him to the living room table and stayed by his side.
“Okay, open your eyes.”
He did and dropped his eyes to discover his gift. He was looking at a gorgeous black and white drawing of Gus and him. His son is on his lap, looking up at his dad, and they’re both smiling.
Brian squeezed Justin’s hand in his and turned to look in his eyes.
“It’s beautiful.”
His smile clearly showed his happiness and he kissed him again.
“I know you’ve been missing him a lot since Melanie and Lindsay moved out of the country, so I figured I would do this for you.”
The tall man stared back at the drawing and sighed in contentment.
“I love it. I’ve really missed your drawings.”
Justin nodded.
“I know. I’ve missed making them too. My hand hurts way less than before now, so I thought Christmas was the perfect time to go back to the basics.”
Brian planted a soft kiss on his cheeks.
“Thank you. That definetely beats a Prada shirt, as comfortable and stylish as it is.”
“Well, I’m glad you like it”, he answered smiling.
He bent down and detached the little red bow to put it on his forehead.
“Okay, time for a shower now.”
He started to walk away when he turned to glance back at Brian.
