To be fair, we can’t be sure that Roadhog and Junkrat teaming up in the Wasted Lands comic was the FIRST time they’ve ever met. Junk seemed pretty sure Roadie would save him (kinda). I dunno, it felt like they already had some history before that comic, and the comic was when they first OFFICIALLY teamed up. So it’s totally possible Roadhog was around to help when Junkrat blew his limbs off. (Maybe, gotta make up lore somehow)
Pretty dang sure Junkrat was taking a shot in the dark with that one. It was either appeal to the biggest bastard in the bar that wasn’t currently trying to kill you or die being interrogated for your treasure. That said those junkers in the beginning certainly knew of Roadhog, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Junkrat knew of his reputation.
To me that scene is an example of how opportunistic Junkrat is rather than it being him appealing to the sensibilities of an old pal.
