Ahhh the lovely, the talented Rhys~
Can I just say how in awe I am of your portrayals? So far I’ve written with ... three of your CQL muses? And every one of them has had such a distinct and incredible voice that sets them apart in a really impressive way. It’s hard to run multis and manage to keep portrayals fresh like that and you do just such an amazing job. Also I need to personally thank you for the absolute sass-brigade that is Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji doing anything together. As well as the absolute heart-wrenching love from Wuxian for his mess of a drunk husband, and Xichen for his stubborn little didi. I feel it all so deeply in my chest and it’s such a pleasure to get to write with such excellent renderings.
I adore you, and keep up the excellent work <3

Psyche! Hello my love! You and Huaisang are such lovely rays of sunshine and it’s wonderful having you both in mine and Wangji’s lives. I live for plots where characters have known one another from young ages, deepening ties that might not have been in canon and giving our bbies stronger roots and support networks. I have yet to delve into your other characters so deeply, but Huaisang is a beautiful, elegant soul and they light up the narrative beautifully. I also want to applaud you for your inclusivity in gender and sexuality/romantic expressions with your characters. It’s very brave to take these approaches with canon characters and push for representation, and I think you’re absolutely wonderful for doing so. As a fellow enby, Huaisang has all of my love and support, and so do you. Keep up the amazing work and I look forward to writing with you much more in the future.

Listen, I know it’s kind of our destiny to just hurt each other over and over again, but I’m here to give you some sof feelings. Iron, you got some of my first posts on this blog and you’re still here writing with me —I’m incredibly grateful and lucky for this. Thank you so much for sticking through me figuring out my disaster of a son, and for giving him such a loving and supportive brother to help him figure out life as a new dad. Writing the posts between Xichen and Wangji through various points in their lives have been one of my favorite sets of interactions here so far, and it’s really been invaluable to helping me establish a sense of my character and how he interacts with his family and those around him. Not to mention his dynamic with his poor husband who can barely get him to rest long enough to heal up — what a saint.
You are such a gem of a person and I really treasure the time and effort you’ve given me, and can’t wait to bring you more sweet sweet pain cherish your friendship with sof and respectful things that don’t hurt at all <3

Bby you’re marvelous. I hope you know that. Really and truly. Sometimes I see your tags and you seem so sad, and it hurts my heart to think you might not know how incredible of a person and how talented of a writer you are. Those are not empty words, I genuinely mean them — I am in awe of you and everything you write, and read your posts over and over when you send them to me. You care deeply about your muses and it shows, and you also care deeply about your friends and I feel it. Getting excited with you over things has been one of my favorite experiences, and seeing you on my dash is always cause for joy, even if you don’t have the energy to write at that time (which is 100% valid and okay, btw. We all have to be kinder and more patient with ourselves about this.)
Thank you for being my friend and writing partner. I am honestly so fortunate to know you and interact with you, and I can’t wait to scoop Xie Yun up in A’Fei’s arms and cherish him forever just as much as Wangji cherishes his Wuxian <3
Love you friend.

Wraith and their Xingchen are just flawless. Everything from aesthetics to verbiage to just how wonderful and kind they are as a person, it’s all so incredible to behold. Our interactions sort of started out with Sinday “eh sure why not” shenanigans (like they do) but honestly one of the most sincere and beautiful relationships came out of it that I’m just floored by. You give Xingchen such a grace and beauty that is palpable and inspiring, it’s impossible not to love and admire you both. Thank you for writing with me, and for accepting my stoic son (soon to be sons, bweheheh)

He hasn’t learned anything, Jiang Cheng thinks by himself as he swims closer to the surface and spots a pair of legs dangling in the water. Human legs, a pair he recognizes without doubt. Nie Huaisang isn’t in grave danger disturbing the waters like that, a lot of animals and sometimes people too come here during the daytime to drink so the Jiang people know to keep their distance, but every now and then someone from the Clan feels the need to REMIND the surface dwellers that this is not their territory to invade and use. Every now and then a human feels a little too daring, goes in too deep, and is never seen again. It has caused tension between them and the humans in the past, and some fear that it will lead to a war at some point, but it is within their right to defend their territory as agreed upon with the emperor over a century ago.
Nie Huaisang really should know better at this point but if anything Jiang Cheng has gotten to know him as someone who isn’t typical in his behavior. Maybe he likes the risk. Maybe he doesn’t believe that Cheng’s kind is far more dangerous than they look. Maybe he TRUSTS Jiang Cheng more than he should. -----Because he really shouldn’t trust him at all. They shouldn’t be talking to each other, let alone have these meetings, putting themselves and each other in danger. Jiang Cheng knows this, tells himself every time he says goodbye to Huaisang that this was the last time - but it never is.
He swims a little higher, watching the way Huaisang’s legs move through the water, creating little air bubbles that rise to the surface like MAGIC. If he refuses to be careful, maybe it’s time to teach him a lesson. With the sun almost set in the world above Jiang Cheng knows that he won’t be spotted right away, even if he swims right up to the surface, but he’s still careful about it. He waits for Huaisang’s legs to move back and his arms shoot forward, hands grabbing him by the calves and dragging him into the water without a warning. He can hear the human’s yelp through the water, the sound so surprised and desperate it makes the corners of his mouth twitch with amusement.
Nie Huaisang sinks like a stone, flailing and struggling as if that could help him stay afloat and for a split second Jiang Cheng is tempted. He can’t help it, it’s in his nature; like a predator responds to the smell of blood he responds to the struggle of his prey in the water, helpless, desperate, DROWNING. It’s over as fast as it came and Jiang Cheng’s arms close around Huaisang’s middle, his tail giving a strong swing and they break through the surface up above. The air is warm and full of sound, most prominently Huaisang’s gasping for breath right against Jiang Cheng’s ear. He brings him back to the shore, locking him in between the rock Huaisang must have been sitting on and his own body.
He’s hot, almost unbearably so, warm blood rushing through his veins while Jiang Cheng’s body is as cool as the water around them. Touching him is like touching a ray of sunlight, and he wonders what it feels like for them in turn. Nie Huaisang is talking agitatedly now, probably complaining about Jiang Cheng’s little game and Cheng uses the opportunity to admire his face. His hair is wet and sticking to his face, his skin covered in pearls of water that shimmer in the red light of the evening sun. His lips are rosy red - and WARM; Jiang Cheng knows them to be. Huaisang’s clothes float around him, making him look like a lotus flower spreading its petals. They’re pretty but strange, and Jiang Cheng much prefers what lies underneath them. He starts to tug at them and push them off Huaisang’s shoulders, noticing a change in the human’s tone as he does.
It takes a few moments to get the soaked robes out of the way and reach bare skin, mainly because Huaisang is holding on to him for dear life and therefore not helping with the undressing. Jiang Cheng would think that he is as helpless underwater as he is on land, but he’s seen other humans swim before and it makes him wonder why Huaisang is reluctant to do so. Maybe not all humans can..?
Huaisang is still nervous about being in the water, it’s audible in his heartbeat, but with every layer of his clothing that Jiang Cheng peels from his skin he seems to calm down a little. The robes float for a bit, then soak with water and sink to the ground - something they’ll have to deal with later.
Before long Huaisang is naked, the only piece of clothing still attached to his body the robe that’s squeezed in between his bum and the bank of the lake in his back. Jiang Cheng’s hands find their way to his thighs, squeezing their supple flesh and holding him up by them while Huaisang’s arms move to curl around his neck. He leans in to KISS HIM - an action that still feels foreign to him despite having done it a few times now. It was Huaisang who taught him what a kiss is and although Jiang Cheng doesn’t really understand it he can’t fully deny the appeal of it. He does, however, have to be careful not to accidentally hurt Huaisang with his sharp fangs.
The kiss doesn’t last long, maybe because Jiang Cheng isn’t great at it, maybe because he’s eager to move on to something else. One of his hands slips between Huaisang’s legs and wraps around his member without hesitation, giving it a little tug. Along with Huaisang’s legs it’s probably his favorite thing about him, purely because touching it draws the most fascinating responses from the human. (They both vividly remember the day Jiang Cheng figured that out.) Huaisang doesn’t seem to mind him doing it either, as he leans his head back against the stone, mumbling something under his breath, his hips pushing forward a little, legs wrapping around Jiang Cheng’s tail.
As scandalous (and stupid) as it is what they’re doing, Jiang Cheng finds that it’s easier to engage in such activities with Nie Huaisang than it is with one of his own people. Perhaps because it is so different from how they would do it, making it easier to tell himself it’s not that; it doesn’t mean anything. IT DOESN’T COUNT. His grasp tightens before he moves his hand in firm strokes which soon pull more of those beautiful gaps from Huaisang’s lips. He grows hard under his touch, his hips moving to meet his hand, pushing off the bank enough his last robe sinks to the bottom of the lake as well.
Jiang Cheng watches the expression on Huaisang’s face, the pleasure in his eyes, the way his lips move with breathy moans. He wonders what it would be like if they were more ALIKE; if he had a body like him and could press against him, into him, the way he wants him to. He tries to tell himself he doesn’t want it as much as he does but every time they are together he is overcome by feelings too strong to deny. Withdrawing his hand gains him some unhappy noises from Huaisang but they morph into something else when he pushes one long finger inside him, the way they did in one of his strange picture books. The water and the general smoothness of his skin makes it an easy slide despite the tightness with which Huaisang clamps around him. He pulls it out again and pushes back inside, curling it inwards. It earns him a moan of the only two words he understands from Nie Huaisang’s mouth: his name, and the sound brings a smile to his lips.
He still wishes he could do more while he continues to use his finger, adding another one after a few thrusts, and savoring the way it makes Huaisang’s sounds grow louder and his hip move faster. The human’s body speaks for him, tightening around his fingers even harder than before when he comes, the result of his pleasure dispersing in the water almost as soon as it shoots out of his body. Jiang Cheng pulls away his hand and wraps both his arms around Huaisang’s middle again, pulling him away from the shore. He only grants him a moment of catching his breath before sinking beneath the surface with him, tightening his embrace as if he’s afraid of him slipping away. Just for a moment he allows himself to imagine he could just keep holding him like this and swim away with him, take him back home, hold his warmth in his arms forever..
He looks at him, at the way his hair floats around him and how his skin color changes in the blue and green darkness surrounding them. They’re not so different at all. Even by Jiang Cheng’s standards he is BEAUTIFUL.
It’s Huaisang’s hand in his hair, tugging much harder than he would when being playful that makes Jiang Cheng realize he’s been holding him underwater for longer than he should. Quickly he swims back up to the surface and holds him up, the reality of their differences slapping him in the face like the cool air above the lake. He needs to stop dreaming and face the truth. There is no future for them and no wish he utters into the darkness when he is by himself is ever going to change that. Huaisang will never swim with him and Jiang Cheng will never walk on land.
This is all they can have and it has to be ENOUGH.
how intimidating you are? nothing, zero, you're one of the bestest partners I've had and I love you very much!! how intimidating your muses are? I guess it depends but everyone is less than 5... Except for Wen Ruohan, he's at least an 11.
On a scale of 1-10, how intimidating is the mun of this blog? the muse?
Awwww bless your heart 💖 I’m glad to hear I’m not intimidating because I never try to be :3 I agree on the muses. I guess Jiang Cheng might make it over 5 after the 16 year gap, mostly because he frowns so hard. Wen Ruohan is very pleased with your assessment, you may live 👌
“Ah, ah ah ah,” Wuxian started as he pulled his friend in against him, not necessarily watching him but a smile on his face at the familiarity. “Nie-xiong, I have to admit I don’t think there’s ever been a time I’ve heard you apologize.” Everyone did say he had a bad memory. “And if you did, have you ever really meant it?” With that, he raised his eyebrow at him with a smirk on his lips.
🧡 - I stalk you from afar because I love your writing!

Nie Huaisang was upset. What was supposed to be a quick visit to his brother took far longer than it should have and he had missed his husband's birthday. In arriving Carp Tower, he sprinted up to stairs running into the other's arms the moment he saw him repeating "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" and forgetting all decorum as he kissed every part of his face "I wanted to be here yesterday but Da-ge didn't let me part because of the snow. Can you forgive me? I brought gifts!"
The servants didn’t have any spare time to announce A-Sang’s return before the young man himself reached him, clearly remorseful over having missed that important date. Jin Guangyao caught his husband reflexively and had to close his eyes under the onslaught of kisses, which quickly began to soothe his surly mood after being left alone on his birthday. He should have known that Nie Mingjue was behind that outrageous behavior.
“Calm down, darling, that’s quite enough,” the Chief Cultivator said gently, taking Huaisang’s hands in his and stepping back. They were in public, after all. “I’m glad you’ve made a safe trip. Have the servants prepare you a hot bath, I’ll be with you soon.” Anyone seeing his warm smile would think that all was forgiven, but before his husband could leave, Jin Guangyao leaned back in to whisper in his ear, “And then we’ll see how far you’re willing to go for my forgiveness.”
