Ratchet did not find parts of the restoration and recovery following war to come with the best decisions, but then, he did not think many made during war were, either. There was only so much select individuals could do, and most of them were as tired as he was, choosing to make points or objections mainly within their own fields of expertise so their arguments were at their strongest.
Some were too tired to object at all, and he truly could not blame them. It was difficult to feel passionate about anything any longer. Numbness and trauma were not easy to escape...
... He pushed those distracting thoughts aside for now, gaze lifting from his hands and refocusing on his companion. At least enough time had passed for recreation and dining to resurface, so he could bring Arcee to a cafe, rather than trying (and likely failing) to prepare something better than average himself.
After their ordered preferences arrived, the veteran’s frown lessened as he noted the size of the cube in her servos. Shortly, he commented with subtle amusement in his tone, “We might need to find a more comfortable, portable fueling container for you.” Or perhaps he could create one.
