The most amazing translation of surrender I have come across is "to be with what is" or a version of it in Taoism is Wei Wu Wei or "Do without doing" a sort of letting go of the pictures of how you think things should be becoming flexible to move with the breeze of Allah's Decree. When we surrender we don't lose something, in fact it's the opposite, we actually become receptive to the infinite blessings that Allah has made available to us.
