St Matthew's Church & Chapel - Maqluba - Qrendi

A late Medieval Church built in 1674 next door to an older smaller Chapel dating back to the 11th Century. Both Church & Chapel suffered extensive damage during Axis bombardment in World War 2.

Torri Xutu - Sciutu Tower - Wied iz- Zurrieq - Qrendi

A coastal watch tower built by the Knights of St John in 1638 in Wied iz- Zurrieq and built over the site of a medieval watch post. It is the 5th Lascaris Tower and served as the prototype for the later De Redin Towers. It was armed with two light cannons placed in embrasures on the roof, one of which can still be found there today. At the start of the British takeover of Malta the Tower was manned by the Royal Malta Fencible Regiment. During the second World War it was used as an Observation Post and manned by the Coastal Police. It was later utilised as a Police Station until 2002.
