Qrowin Weekend 2020 - Part 2
Celebration
“They couldn’t be here today, so they emailed the design.”
Qrow’s arm was draped over Winter’s shoulder as they both watched the scroll.
“... Why is there a drink warmer?” She dragged her finger over the screen, looking over the schematics from every angle she could orchestrate. And for all her scrutiny, it looked good.
He took a deep breath. “Ruby says Weiss insisted that they add one. Something about keeping her coffee warm for when she visits.”
She gave the diagram another spin. “And what if she spills it?”
Qrow snorted, “It’s your sister - I haven’t seen her spill a drop of coffee. Ever.”
Afterward, though, there was a moment of silence as she put the scroll down. She let her head rest against his shoulder. It was getting a bit tougher to move around now, and she certainly couldn’t continue her role as a huntress. Or anything much for the matter.
Winter let herself get comfortable on the couch. “Being pregnant is annoying. How do animals do this without getting annoyed at it all.”
“Well, most of the time there is, you know,” a yawn broke through, but he continued, “a mate that helps them.” Qrow shot her a look, “Am I helpful?”
She put a peck on his lips, “As long as you’re not trying to build a crib.”
He snorted. “Come on, it wasn’t that bad, was it?”
“No, but it was just a crib. We built our own weapons - I’m expecting a high quality product from you.”
“Ah, yes - such as a retractable drink warmer that we still don’t really know who it’s for.” He gave a sigh, “Honestly it’s probably to keep the milk warm, but I still think it’s an excuse for a coffee holder.”
Silence, again. Amicable, but there was still a level of nervousness. “Do you think they’ll be here?”
This time, Qrow put a kiss into her hair and his warm arm gave her a soft squeeze. “It’s a Schnee baby shower. Weiss wouldn’t have missed it if she could have, and something about old business screams about having to show up. I’m sure someone will be here.”
“And if not, well, you’re already a part of the Branwen extended family. We’ll be more than happy to be there.”
The doorbell rang, and as Qrow got up to open the door, the fear was still there. But as the first set of guests entered, a feeling of warmth began to push it out of the way.
