talking about ratatoier’s dream, he’s rock bottom with his traumas and abandonment issues.

so, we officially know his participation in purgatory 2 is canonically a dream, with that, every islander he met can be related to his feelings for that person or his relation with them.

and damn, is so sad if you think about it too much, the fact he met q!etoiles and q!bagi first says a lot for me.

his brother of swords, coming to him after feeling shitty like the good old days of purgatory I, he takes the chance to ask about q!cellbit and q!baghera and is so sad the way he asks so dubious, expecting any answer either good or bad.

then he sees q!bagi, she is the perfect person to respond the question he wants to ask; their bond started because of q!cellbit and now is more between them sharing the feeling of losing someone they love so much and how life is unfair for him. she also knows about q!roier feelings and story on the island, even including him in the arc of the mystery twins because at the end he played a important rol there for his husband and trusting q!bagi.

he’s expecting her to tell him about q!cellbit and q!baghera because he trust her to tell the truth as someone who cares about his husband like he does. her answer “they’re alive but i don’t know where they are, they killed me before running away.”

how is possible to be alive but not there with him, thats the moment he realizes this is all part of a dream and his mind takes chance, of course.

q!elquackity appeared, teasing him and playing like kids, once again, nostalgic about the time he speeded with him on the quesadilla island. juanito cameo is such a funny way to replace a face he can’t longer remember but still having the same essence of his friend.

once again, in my perspective, he didn’t want to create a image of his soulmate because the realization of being fake is more dangerous for him than risk that hope on him being alive, after knowing is a dream is easier to take advance and remember someone who he miss but is more probably death.

but even in his dreams he ends alone, helpless.
