Personal take on a French union getting involved:
this is actually so disturbing. no restructuring ever happened. the only thing that changed was eliminating most people who actually did things and overworking the remaining staff even more than before. we were all lied to.
quackity either never actually cared about making things better or is the most incompetent person to ever run an smp.
link to document.
For me the amount of content about individual lore on the qsmp was fine, since I had no desire to keep up with the lore of ccs I didn't care about, while the ones I did care about I just watched their streams and could ask for tldr in chat.
But the main story of the server was so incredibly messy, I had no idea what was going on by the later half of it. The issues wasn't just the amount of content, but also for a big part the fact that the team/Quackity refused to end any storyline.
The eggs - obviously, elections - understandable but could've been wrapped up anyways, Purgatory workers - why did they even make them different charas to the feds, the code monster - turned to friend and maybe an egg?????, children getting kidnapped - they never could do anything about it but wait it out which was frustrating af, black concrete - I don't even remember, nether - what was the point.
But most infuriating and the biggest story killer - the federation. The players continously infiltrated, observed, investigated and made plans against the federation and it never lead to any real changes. Ever. There were smaller storylines by the ccs or the fed admins themselves that may have found an end, but it was never anything that had a real effect. Everything stayed the same no matter what the ccs did.
It's fine to have a plot with people in control, but if you built a story that's ccs vs feds, especially when the feds use their power against ccs (eg. Taking away the eggs over night and the whole heart system for the eggs) they NEED to let the ccs feel like they have some influence on the story or else the feds will just feel immortal. Which is obviously bad storytelling in a Them vs Us story. And even more annoyingly, when that plot started to get stale, instead of concluding that chapter, they simply added that the purgatory feds are the ones actually in control, which is just again the same bland immortal vs ccs story.
Also for a big part it felt like the only times the story moved on, was for an event or when Quackity had a lore stream. But in between that 5 new smaller stories were opened that felt relevant but ended up completely irrelevant or abandoned. It was impossible to follow what matters and what doesn't later on cuz so many things weren't concluded. So anyways qsmp needs to have better writers 🐛
i agree. i remember that i would go on hugeee breaks from watching the qsmp, miss huge amounts of lore and content that seemed REALLY serious, but when i caught up… there was practically no change. they were still at a net zero with finding out ANY of the mysteries.
while nobody wanted the eggs to be temporary—as much as i loved them— if got to the point were we REALLY gotta ask what the heck is going on, is it worth it to keep them? they were dragons then they were hunted then they were kidnapped then we ended up just being confused. they were REALLY good for the story at first but then it just went NOWHERE.
IF ANYTHING I BARELY EVEN THINK THEY HAD DEDICATED WRITERS FOR THIS. it was all so disorganized. while no one talks about the dsmp, you have to admit, having wilbur write the story at first kept things organized and set to a standard. it sorta lost the plot near the end when everyone began to do their own thing, but when there are SO many ccs there needs to be organization and a strict story at least as a baseline or we end up with the qsmp mess
changed my mind not going to be nice anymore if i have to read another post about how people think the brown guy needs to be violent or needs a white guy to tell him what to do to use his strength properly or how he will always be violent to have people's backs 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 NOT a good take 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 boo tomato 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 tomato 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 boo these takes suck stop making them
completely and totally unrelated to current events happening on the qsmp rn but i’m starting a new group called game devs against quackity where we hunt down quackity for sport and force him to hire an actual game designer
i don’t understand the point of purgatory “pushing people to their limits” and how q thinks that’s a good thing. ccs getting frustrated isn’t entertaining. ccs having to put all of their mental energy into surviving isn’t entertaining. ccs deciding to put effort into entertaining instead and being punished in game for it just sucks.
when you design a game that’s deliberately unfair in-story. you absolutely have to make sure that it’s not also unfair in a meta sense. because then it becomes just actually unfair.
if the admins wanted to rig this in blue’s favor, deciding to put the event on the day that no one on green logs on is not it. it’s not unfair within the story. it is simply unfair due to circumstances entirely outside it. it adds nothing to the story of playing an unfair game. because there’s nothing actually within the story that makes it unfair. there is no understanding of it being unfair without meta knowledge. it’s just bad game design, then.
the fact that quackity’s former lead developer has to air his issues publicly to get q’s attention because he has no way of contacting him directly is truly insane. the communication problems really do go all the way to the top.
