La Trappe Quadrupel
Brewdog & La Trappe - Practise what you preach
Eight deliciour beers on draft, from a blogpost about a beerhike to the La Trappe brewery at Koningshoeven Abbey near Tilburg, The Netherlands.
My dad and sister are staying with us for a few days over this Thanksgiving break and with dinner tonight, we decided to crack open a few beers from the beer fridge. My sister has come around to cr…
The Cherry by Three Magnets Brewing, a 12.3% ABV quadrupel with added cherry flavor. It’s a beer for all the Cherry Coke drinkers who want to get drunk.
Malheur 12°
St. Bernadus Abt 12
St. Bernadus Abbey Ale/Quadrupel
Thought Though I believe so-called the difference between bottled beer and beer in keg is minor if exisiting, I was quite surprised by the instant difference between bottled St. Bernadus Abt 12 and tapped St. Bernadus Abt 12.
Difference Tapped beer had stronger aroma, flavor, and texture. I see no difference if not less in mouth feel and body.
Conclusion I would prefer a bottle to a tap: less stronger and easy to drink, yet possessing decent characteristic.

Tangerine Quad (Avery)
Brewery : Avery Beer : Tangerine Quad Style : Quadrupel / Quad Variance : Brewed with Tangerine Peel and Aged in Bourbon Barrels
8.5 / 10
Holy shit this is fucking smooth. I never thought that a beer clocking in at 10.1% ABV could go down this easy but I guess you learn something new every day. Actually, I also learned that diamonds are not forever unlike that stupid quote because after billions of years it would eventually turn into graphite due to entropy so IN YOUR FACE DE BEERS (The jeweler not the beverage)! That’s right folks, that fancy wedding ring sitting around your finger will be nothing more than a number 2 pencil in a few billion years so enjoy it while you can suckers! I think I got a little off track here. This is definitely a super interesting take on the style and honestly I feel like it almost tastes more like a cocktail than it does a beer but I’m loving every second of it. A super bourbon-y initial flavor kicks things off with that tangerine peel mixing in with some dark fruit towards the middle sweetening things up and giving you the illusion of a mixer before ending with more whiskey, vanilla, and oak to tie the whole drink together. I feel like instead of a normal glass I should be drinking this out of a scotch glass instead with a little umbrella in it because this is sophisticated as fuck while also being potent enough to make you grow a full beard regardless of your gender. Ladies, yours would just be a downstairs beard but same difference. Basically, if you are a fan of that delicious brown liquor known as bourbon and are a fan of the style, open your mouth and pour this down because this brew in the Botanicals & Barrels series from Avery is 100% worth your time. For you newcomers out there, unless you really love bourbon I’d pass on this one for now because it does not shy away from the barrel it was aged in but definitely come back to it when you’re ready. Prost!
