Here’s the first household, Malina and Darrock Quagg. The couple are peasant fishermen, who live in a humble home by the coast.
Darrock has big ambitions and hopes to form the militia in Asgarnia and one day lead a great army as High Constable. Meanwhile, Malina wishes to raise many children and grandchildren... to supply said army, perhaps?
Sir Amik quickly grew fond of Darrock Quagg, a lowly peasant. The two men exchanged pleasantries and spent a considerate amount of mocking Sir Brundt, the squire of Fremennik.
Darrock and Malina head out to the beach for a “hard” day of work! Malina kept busy with sandcastle-building and swimming, while her husband fished from the river.
Sir Amik invites his guest for a nice dinner. Raymund, the servant, also joined because I forgot to shoo him away. Meals are always difficult because I have to watch the servant like a hawk to keep them from mingling inappropriately (e.g., eating together) with their master. But this time, I said fuck it!
In the wee hours of the night, Malina goes into labour and gives birth to a baby girl, Aurola Quagg. Soon afterwards, she departs this world, leaving her husband heartbroken and her baby without a mother!
As Malina’s due date approaches, Darrock is reluctant to leave her side. His wife has not been feeling well, so Darrock has been stuck to her like glue! He chooses to fish from the small pond on their land, whenever it is convenient which is usually at night.
After the unfortunate death of Malina, Minella steps in to care for her child. However, Minella’s pregnancy symptoms become severe and impede her ability to work. She is always nauseated, and in constant discomfort.
Unable to stand, let alone hold baby Aurola for more than a few minutes, Minella gathers her things and head back to her home in Fremennik.
Minella, the midwife, has arrived! The family is strapped for cash, and since Darrock is always cooking or cleaning, there has not been much time for him to work. Darrock hires her services, so that she may care for his pregnant wife and that he may spend more time fishing!
It turns out that Minella is also pregnant, which she learns in a funny way! Ha!
