Hello to my dearest friends and strangers! Welcome to my newly acquitted blog, where I will be sharing my favorite adventures with you all. My name is Mr. James Rowe, but you can call me James, of course. I live in the lovely state of Pennsylvania, along with my most beautiful wife, Betty Rowe. Now, you may be asking how I got my hands on such a wonderful lady in these times, but with my romantic aura that was simply easy. 

Anyways, I immigrated here from England not too long ago. As a Quaker, I did not have much of a choice, however the colonies have always intrigued me! The religious freedom here is beyond one's expectation, the middle colonies especially. I own a small wheat farm, in which I work on to the most of my ability. Luckily, I do have quite the preference for bread myself! In my free-time, I spend as much time with my wife, and our neighbors as possible. We may live a small life, but we do make the best out of it! So, that’s a bit about me! Seeing the spunky, charming, and handsome man that I am, I hope you drop a follow, and appreciate my dashing posts.

My family came to the Americas partly for religious freedoms to begin with. I’m glad to see that we made the right choice. My parents were more dedicated to Lutheranism than I am so being exposed to so many other beliefs has actually been one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve actually made the decision to leave behind my religious roots to take up being a Quaker. I’ve gotten Addie and the kids into the belief and we’re living just as happy as we were before if not more so. As Quakers, my family believes that all men and women are born spiritually equal in God’s eyes. Women have more freedoms within our Quaker communities but of course with this comes controversy. I just hope my dear Addie doesn’t lose her head any time soon. I hear they just sent 3 Quaker women to jail for protesting. God help us!

The challenges of life have taught me and continue to teach me that God is definitely with me even on the most difficult of days. Where there is nothing else on which I can rely, I know there is One who does speak to my condition and leads me. All of the ups and downs, heartaches and exhilaration I experience are but threads woven together as a tapestry created by God. As I stand back and view the beauty of his work, I am filled with gratitude.

Our tradition does not witness to things by talking about them, which is why some people think “Quaker theology” is a contradiction in terms. It isn’t, of course, though we tend to prefer questions to answers. This not because of diffidence or uncertainty, but to encourage others to discover for themselves the hope that, often unrecognized, lives within them. That, we think, is the way to enter the Kingdom and, in Paul’s words, to rejoice in our hope. There is faith and there is love. What joins them together, let us never forget, is hope.
