i'm imagining quan yizhen in the modern era bursting in on xie lian 'i finally found shixiong!' and hua cheng and xie lian, he xuan, quan yizhen all go one by one to meet modern punk barista yin yu ... and yin yu is a little unnerved by the intense energy of these guys but he's chill about it and it seems like they're hitting on him so thinks why not go for it? and seduces them one by one (or by two in hualian's case)

the cast:
hua cheng - a broke college art student in his final year. he works odd shifts at the coffee shop to save up money to pay off his debts. he could just ask his rich family for money, but he wants to make his own way. stubborn, yet occasionally charming. heterochromic, with his right eye being red.
xie lian - a college music major who’s new to the city, having gotten a job at the local music store via his connections with his two best friends, feng xin and mu qing, to study at one of the best schools in the country. looks sweet, sometimes says odd things (hua cheng finds it endearing), scary if he needs to be.
yin yu - the young owner of the coffee shop in question. he’s smart, reliable, and good at finances, if visually a bit forgettable. neither talkative nor soft-spoken. expert at keeping he xuan and hua cheng from fighting.
he xuan - part-time marine biology studier, part-time coffee shop worker, full-time hua cheng antagonizer. they’ve been best friends since preschool, and they ended up in the same city again. looks gloomy, but he can be rather playful, especially around yin yu and quan yizhen.
quan yizhen - high energy martial arts prodigy. he and yin yu have been close since they were young and practiced martial arts together. yin yu’s interest waned, but yizhen’s never did. his refusal to go to college angered his parents, and yin yu’s soft spot for his shidi encouraged him to offer him a job and a place to stay. part-time coffee shop worker, part-time tai chi instructor.
feng xin - the hot-headed assistant manager at the nearby music store. known locally for his good looks, quick temper, and vast knowledge of different musical scores. ask him a question about one of his favorites to get on his good side.
mu qing - the sharp-tongued cashier at the nearby music store. known locally for his good looks, cruel words, and incomparable knowledge of different musical instruments. ask him a question about one of his favorites to get on his good side.
the setting:
modern universe, of course <3 i have names picked out for the coffee shop and music store, but i’ll share those another time hehe

it just like ... fixes everything that's off with quanyin!!! he xuan is the missing piece!!! and quan yizhen and yin yu are the missing piece to all of he xuan's whole thing!!!

• he xuan as a buffer for quanyin where they can slowly learn how to be close together with more honesty
• he xuan and yin yu can offer each other a mutual understanding of their pensieve depths, while quan yizhen brings the brightness
• he xuan likes when yin yu gets angry, at first baits yin yu out of his people pleasing default by being as sarcastic and difficult as possible
• yin yu sassing he xuan as flirtation once he's comfortable
• quan yizhen's simple forthrightness is a balm for he xuan
• he xuan doesn't really care for the way the gods either snicker or look away embarassed when quan yizhen is unaware of social norms and doesn't mind explaining social things quan yizhen doesn't understand, actually he xuan has a problem with most social norms and with yizhen they can decide their own rules
• and quan yizhen doesnt pick up on / get intimidated by he xuan's scary vibes
• quan yizhen and he xuan snack time
• yin yu getting jealous of the indulgent weirdly easy bond between quanxuan and trying to conceal it but getting caught and loved up despite himself

When Pei Ming saw that reinforcements had arrived, he didn’t appear particularly delighted; instead he stabbed the sword into the ground and rubbed his nose.
“What the heck? You had to show up just as I finished making these,” he said, sounding grim.
“It’s amazing anyone showed up at all,” Quan Yizhen said. “When they heard it was to save you, suddenly no one had time.”

The figure in bed sat up - it was Quan Yizhen. He stayed where he was, watching them with a glassy look. He still seemed confused about the whole situation.
Pei Ming raised his sword. “Qi Ying, stop staring and come give me a hand,” he said sternly. “Apprehend them.”
After giving it some thought, Quan Yizhen decided to assist. He rolled off the bed, picked up that same bed he had just been sleeping on, and hurled it at Pei Ming.
maybe he xuan would be a bit too preoccupied with his revenge to pay much attention at the time, but I can only imagine afterward he xuan BEAMING every time quan yizhen casually eviscerates pei ming a heavenly official
no, he would walk over and kiss quan yizhen on the lips, probably

decided to post some snippets that have accumulated over time. this one belongs to the verse of this fic:
He Xuan rarely uses his powers to protect his body/make himself stronger because he doesn't care about potential damage, he knows that he can just fix it. But to Quan Yizhen, He-xiong is Unbreakable. So sometimes he'll jump at He Xuan and hug him real tight, and you'll hear ribs cracking. Any bystanders would think, 'Holy shit, Qi Ying is SO DEAD!'. But He Xuan just sighs and Yizhen goes, "Sorry He-xiong!" and kisses him to fix it. (Yin Yu facepalms in the background.)
wooooo final chapter of this magical quanyinxuan fic i've been reading is up. so much sweet and salty domesticity (& a bit of smut!) my heart is melting. featuring yin yu calling he xuan a silly melon! which is very important to me!
