also technically not in competition BUT. that wtf moment when you find out Paseka is actually valuable somewhere besides vault. arguably the best gymnastics she has ever shown. incredible toe 1/1, every pirouette should look like that. girly can also drill a double front dismount like it’s nobody’s business.

In honor of the girl who does not give up potentially making a comeback, here’s an ode to Chellsie fucking Memmel on beam, 3x(?) world champion and certified badass. Let’s start with 2003 when she got flown into worlds during competition to help the US to gold and then became co world bars champ with Hollie Vise. Struggled w injuries and didn’t make the 2004 olympic team. Stuck around and became AA world champ in 2005 along with bars and beam silver medal. Qualified first for the AA in 2006 but had to withdraw due to an injury and still helped the team win a silver medal. Sat out 2007 while the US won their second team gold medal. Came THE FUCK BACK in 2008 as the top 3 AA’er in the US and made the olympic team only to get injured in Beijing and only be able to contribute to bars for the US and still helped them to a silver medal (I legit think she would’ve gone on beam over Alicia in a heartbeat given how rock solid she was her entire career and Alicia could’ve gone into floor no pressure but honestly she could’ve gone up on floor too depending on how they scored her vs alicia in quals). She competed in 2009 but her serious comeback came in 2011 where she kinda rocked but her shoulder injury made her only an option as alternate for worlds. And in 2012 she had a meltdown at Classics and the selection committee denied her petition to Nationals, ending her bid for the olympic team. This girl has seen some SHIT and I would love nothing more than for her to show the fuck up AGAIN in 2021 with a stacked beam routine forcing them to PUT HER ON THAT TEAM.
enjoy these additional Memmel beam routines that are just as important:

bars trend of the quad brought to you by pre-surgery Lena <333 the first girl to compete it since nabieva herself in 2010. also one of the few to start breaking out of the bars mold that russia built shaposh, pak, shaposh 1/2 even if this isn’t that far off from it.

someone mentioned peng peng recently and i had a flashback to this stellar routine. she could’ve just stopped at the flairs and dismounted. but no. she gave us a standing full, she gave us a grigoras and she gave us a tour jete 1/2.

Let’s start off with the obvious of the obvious. To me, there simply is not a better floor routine, like ever. Like there is no better combo of dance, acro difficulty, execution, artistry, flexibility, music etc. This is what I call a completely balanced routine in every aspect. It’s the first that comes to mind when I think about routines I could watch over and over again.

a wise person once said “we accept the love we think we deserve,” and for some reason i thought i deserved headcase as a favorite, which has led to many many heartbreaks. but she finally delivered a routine that made me shed a singular tear. as opposed to the many tears she usually makes me shed. reblog the rare seda hit beam routine for good luck

more or less forgotten? she never made a major team. if she had been in this quad, she could’ve been a good bet for a beam specialist spot. she didn’t really have anything else to add in terms of other events, but she is definitely incredible on beam.
