Just got to the final interraction between Aloy and HADES, and I love all the subtle details. Aloy almost sounding concerned when seeing the sorry state it's in, HADES calling her "System Threat" before correcting itself and using her name, the "You have a great personality, HADES" snark.

I know it had to die, but it would be fun if it stuck around for conversations later on.

Ngl I was PUMPED when HADES said “system threat detected” I was like HE SAID THE THING!! My blog name!!! That I took from a cool moment in the game!! It was said again!!!

But yeah!! It woulda been cool if it had stuck around 😔 some friends and I kicked around the idea that it could be repurposed to hunt invasive species becAUSE FOR SOME REASON. GAIA THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA. TO REINTRODUCE CARP INTO THE AMERICAS.

so I'm playing through the Frozen Wilds with Norwegian subtitles because that is a language I speak, and they translated Ikrie's "Damn" to the norwegian equivelant of "Fuck". Let Ikrie say fuck!

So based on what we've seen, Aloy's quest in Forbidden West seems to be to repair GAIA, but consider this; Instead of just repairing GAIA, who's super dead, the game instead ends with CYAN taking over for her!

An interesting idea! One I must respectfully disagree with, however.

CYAN wasn’t built to handle such a complex and massive system. Sure, she’s managing Firebreak, but that’s just overlooking the Yellowstone Caldera; Zero Dawn manages the world.

That not even mentioning how easily she was overpowered by HEPHAESTUS, who is just one Subfunction. I can’t imagine she’d handle handle seven other sentient, “highly chaotic”, subfunctions(or 6 1/2. We don’t really know what’s going on with HADES since he got declawed) very well.

But I can imagine that once Aloy repairs GAIA, she could introduce the two and they would be fast friends! :)

To fix your redraw issue: duplicate the layer with both of them, erase one Alloy on one layer, and then go to the other layer and erase Talanah on the other layer, boom two layers two characters! (This is what I've done when accidentally merging things)

Unfortunatley I merged them WHILE they were hidden; the talanah and aloy you see in my most recent sketch update are stolen from that WIP post I made, and set to a multiply layer so the white bg doesn’t block the Slaughterspine.

Unfortunately, I didn’t turn off the undersketch in those progress shots, and they weren’t the correct size, so their lines are fuzzy and they have 100% opacity undersketch on the same layer as the lineart 😭 so I’d either have to meticulously clean the undersketch from the actual lineart, or just retrace them… and retracing them just. Sounds easier

I’m just glad I posted those sketches, or I would have had to redraw them entirely instead of tracing my own art

2. Behemoth! I like their gravity tech, it’s so cool! And generally a fun challenge to beat, especially if you accidentally come across a convoy while exploring near that place with the Thunderjaws lol

3. Charger! I just really like their horns and that you can ride them.

Bonus! Top 3 predicted favs from the new machines of the Forbidden West!

1. Slitherfang! BIG!!!! SNAKE!!!! WITH ACID AND PLASMA!!! AND AN ELECTRIC RATTLE!!! AND SONIC BLASTS??? THAT CAN SWIM THROUGH THE EARTH!! They just look so so cool and I can’t wait to fight a million of them. HEPHAESTUS really took the Thunderjaw and said: “But what if I incorporated MORE murderous intent into the design?” And honestly we love to see it

2. Shellsnapper! The kinetic redirection ability hinted at in the Sunhawk comic really sparked my imagination, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they’re like in game!

3. Rollerback! Whenever a machine challenges what we already know about beating machines I go a little feral! These guys seem to be able to put their armor plates back on after you knock them off! They roll around like huge pangolins! What other secrets do they hold??? I’m very excited :)

4. Honorable mention: that Bat machine that appears for 2 seconds
