While I've been drawing my Voidlghts and Keybells and etc., I've been wanting to make cultists for the wardens (in the Sacrarium series), and while brainstorming, I realized that some of my old D&D characters would make perfect flowers. :)
I was mainly thinking of Jinx at first (the woman on the left, who would absolutely be a Kings Flower). Jinx or Jinora, was outgoing, curious, and an unpredictable force of nature who was vicious when angered. Fun coincidence, she was also the first trans character I ever made. She would get a rose tattoo over her heart.
The man on the right is Cyrus, who is the closest thing to a big brother Jinx ever had. He's protective and nurturing, consumed by guilt, and (normally) stressed the fuck out. His original D&D version started going grey early because of it. While at first I didn't think he would be a flower, I realized he would 100% agree with Vivire's beliefs on devotion and how nothing is truly painful if it's for someone you love. He was also raised in an environment that prioritized a lot of toxic masculine traits, and getting to shed those as a Queen's flower would be good for him. (incidentally, this is the happiest I've ever drawn Cyrus xD)
In their original story, Jinx was the only child of a rich and powerful Aasimar family that valued law and order above all things. Cyrus's job was to watch over Jinx and keep her out of trouble. (Though he wasn't much older than her.) But while Cyrus was distracted, Jinx came into contact with a magic McGuffin that turned her into a fallen aasimar. (The edgy kind with skeletal wings) Even though she was just a child, her family immediately assumed she had done something wrong and, to hide the disgrace, locked Jinx away in a windowless tower for years. Completely isolated, barely fed, and for much of that time chained to keep her from escaping. She did escape with Cyrus's help and would join a D&D party. Shenanigans ensue.
They were also antagonists in one of the D&D games I ran. The game took place in a demiplane where the world was (originally) entirely fictional. Some of the characters, like Jameson (who I plan to draw as a Winter Crow), decided that even if the world was fictional at the beginning, it didn't mean the lives of the people living there were worth less than his own. He dedicated himself to protecting it. Jinx wanted to destroy the world to escape it and damn the consequences (She has a thing about being trapped), and Cyrus devoted himself entirely to keeping her safe and freeing her after Jameson got her locked in prison. (She ended up true polymorphing herself into a dragon and bit Jameson's head off for putting her in jail. As one does.)
I think their backstory would be very similar in the Sacrarium universe. Only this time, when Jinx is locked away and Cyrus is spiraling, he would have someone to turn to for help. And two scary wardens who are always up for adding a couple more orphans to their garden. (They were not orphans when Cyrus begged for help, but I like to imagine they would be when VV were done :P )
