Autumn has arrived and the kids are on their way to their next step towards the Pokémon League. Seconds before the arrival of the sea guardian, Elena walks around Orderve City in her new Autumn outfit.
Recommended Music: The Hunted (ES)
Dark storm clouds then cover the entire skyline. Elena looks up and speculates that something is bringing the storm with it. She then hears someone shout from afar.
Voice: EVACUATE THE AREA! NOW!!
Elena turns to the source of the voice and squints her eyes. She spots Blight and the others at the Orderve Pier.
Elena: It’s everyone!
Meanwhile back at the pier, everyone discusses.
Meg: What’s wrong? What’s with that Gyarados?
Reginald: That particular Gyarados just so happens to be the Sea Guardian of La Huerta.
Taari: It’s also... corrupted.
Everyone looks at each other worried and in fear. Meanwhile, Absol comes out of Mika’s pokéball and points towards the storm.
Absol: Sol! (Disaster!)
Everyone stares at her and quickly shows their expressionless faces. Absol smiles as the discussion continues.
Mika: What do we do?
Kaitlyn: We need to call my parents! They were able to defeat the Sea Guardian ten years ago.
Kaitlyn quickly reaches for her phone but soon realizes that there is no signal.
Blight: It’s disrupting our communications.
Vishakha: What do we do now?!
Reginald: They couldn’t have gotten that far when we left the resort. They should see the storm soon.
Rachel: We have to distract it first before they get here then.
Izzy: We also need to keep everyone safe from the storm.
Bystanders start to walk away from the pier. Gyarados then roars and unleashes the storm. Balls of orange electricity start to coalesce in the darkened sky and explode in a crackle of sparks. Meanwhile, strong winds start to stream and rain starts to drop. The bystanders then start to run away as far as possible while trying to avoid the sparks of electricity. Aryn grits her teeth and yells a plan at the group.
Aryn: It’s now or never! Vishakha, Blight, distract the Guardian until Taylor and the others get here! The rest of us will help the citizens!
Blight: Wha... WHAT?!
Vishakha: Us?!
Aryn: Now’s not the time for discussions. I chose you two because I know you can do it.
Worried looks fade from the faces of the two best friends and determination replaces it. They nod at each other then back to Aryn.
Blight: You can count on us.
Vishakha: Be careful, Mommy.
Vishakha runs up to Aryn and gives her a tight embrace. Meanwhile, Katherine approaches Blight and takes his hand. He turns to her.
Blight: Kath, I...
Before he could finish, she interrupts him with a soft, tender kiss. They cling on each other lovingly before pulling away.
Katherine: I love you, Blight. Stay safe... for me.
Blight: I love you too, Kath. And don’t worry. I will.
Katherine’s doubts disappear as she smiles at Blight.
Katherine: Go get ‘em, Tiger.
Aryn gently grabs Katherine’s arm and pulls her away. Meanwhile, Vishakha pinches Blight’s ear and pulls him towards the end of the pier.
Aryn: Okay, lovebirds. Save “that” AFTER we save the city.
Vishakha: That’s enough, Romeo. You can have your time with Juliet later.
Katherine giggles while Blight suffers from pain. Vishakha lets loose of her grip as Blight glares at her before walking towards the pier. The rest of the group join up with Aryn.
Aryn: Alright, Meg, Mika and Kaitlyn, you three head towards that Ferris Wheel and helped those people trapped in there!
Meg: Yes, Mom!
Meg and the two girls rush towards the Ferris Wheel.
Aryn: Rachel, Taari and Reginald, you three keep the storm away from the citizens.
Rachel: You got it, Mommy!
Rachel and the two boys head to the center of the area and wait for the storm.
Aryn: Izzy, Katherine, we’ll help in the evacuation.
Izzy: Right.
Katherine: Understood!
Recommended Music: Fury of the Storm (Monster Hunter)
The group disperse and go on with their tasks. Meanwhile, back at the pier, Blight and Vishakha reach the end of it. As Gyarados approaches the pier, it begins to charge an attack from its mouth.
Vishakha: Here it comes!
Blight: Tch! It’s gonna use Hyper Beam!
Blight reaches for his pokéball and throws it in front of him.
Blight: Steelix, use Iron Tail!
Steelix quickly comes out of his Pokémon and his tail starts to glow white. As Gyarados fires Hyper Beam at the group, Steelix uses Iron Tail to parry the attack, sending it upwards.
Vishakha: Good thinking, Jester.
Vishakha reaches for their pokéball and throws it in front of her.
Vishakha: Let’s do this, Mawile!
Mawile comes out and lands gracefully.
Vishakha: Use Thunder Punch!
Mawile’s fist start to charge with electricity as she leaps towards Gyarados. She swings her arm towards the Atrocious Pokémon, attempting to land an attack. However, even with its large size, Gyarados was still able to swiftly evade Mawile’s Thunder Punch. Vishakha and Blight are startled by this.
Vishakha: What?! How is it THAT fast?!
Blight: I guess that’s how strong a Guardian of La Huerta is.
Gyarados’s tail then glows blue and strikes Mawile with Aqua Tail.
Vishakha: Mawile!
Mawile is launched towards the sea.
Blight: Damn! Steelix, use your tail to catch her!
Vishakha: Mawile, on your feet!
Mawile regains composure while Steelix uses his tail to reach Mawile’s trajectory. She then lands on the tail. Vishakha then looks at Blight
Vishakha: I got a plan.
Blight: Let’s do it then.
Vishakha: Mawile, hang on to Steelix.
Mawile opens her second head’s mouth and bites onto Steelix’s tail to hang on.
Blight: Now spin her around!
Steelix then spins his tail, preparing to launch Mawile.
Vishakha: Now, let go and use Thunder Punch!
Mawile lets go of her grip and is launched towards Gyarados at high speeds. She then charges electricity on both of her fists as she makes her way.
Blight: Sync Combo Move...
Vishakha: Number 3...
Both: THUNDER SPEAR!!
Mawile is then covered entirely with electricity, turning into a form of a spear tip. Before it could react, Gyarados is pierced by the attack. It flinches backwards and roars at the two best friends, while they high five. Mawile manages to make her back to the pier using Fairy Wind to carry herself.
Meanwhile at the Ferris Wheel, Meg, Kaitlyn and Mika rushes to help a group of people stuck in it.
Citizen 1: Help us!
Citizen 2: Please!
Meg shouts back at the endangered citizens.
Meg: Don’t worry! We’ll save you!!
Meg feels Mika tapping her shoulder who then points to a set of unstable support legs at the foot of the Ferris Wheel.
Mika: The impact of the lightning strike must’ve been that.
Kaitlyn: We have to keep the Ferris Wheel standing until we save everyone in it!
The three girls nod at each other and grabs their pokéball. Mika ties her hair up and throws her ball along with Meg and Kaitlyn.
Meg: Go, Audino!
Kaitlyn: I’m counting on you, Riolu!
Mika: Let’s do this, Espeon!
The three Pokémon then come out of their pokéballs, ready to take action. Meg and Kaitlyn hurry towards the base of the Ferris Wheel, while Mika stays a few meters away.
Meg: Alright, Audino, use Ice Beam on the supports!
Kaitlyn: We’ll do the same too, Riolu. Use Ice Punch!
Audino starts to fire a cerulean beam at the supports of the Ferris Wheel. Ice starts to encase the supports, locking them in place. Meanwhile, Riolu clenches his fists as cold air starts to surround them. He then lightly jabs the rest of the supports and ice start to encased them. Mika then shouts at the citizens.
Mika: Alright, open the cabin doors and my Espeon will use Psychic to carry you down!
The citizens hesitate for a second but eventually nods. They then open the doors of the cabins and step by the edge.
Mika: Now! Espeon, use Psychic! Absol, use Icy Wind!
One by one Espeon carefully carries the citizens down from the cabins using telekinesis. While Absol summons cold winds to cushion them to the ground.
Meanwhile at the entrance of the pier, Rachel, Taari and Reginald watches the battle at the end of the pier.
Taari: Yeah! Go get ‘em, Mister Blight!
Rachel: Go, Sis!
Reginald: I haven’t seen this much trust and skill.
Rachel: Well, they are the best of friends.
Weak tornadoes start to form near the three trainers while lightnings randomly strikes around the port. They then ready themselves and call out their Pokémon.
Rachel: I choose you, Froslass!
Taari: Come out, Grotle!
Reginald: Go, Monferno!
The three Pokémon then come out of their pokéballs, ready to face the harsh conditions of the storm.
Rachel: Okay, now follow my lead.
The two boys nod at Rachel.
Rachel: Use Blizzard, Froslass!
As the tornadoes spin clockwise, Froslass summons a blizzard. Cold winds start to spin counterclockwise. With this tactic, Froslass manage to dissipate three tornadoes. The boys nod at each other and do the same.
Taari: Grotle, use Leaf Storm!
Reginald: Use Fire Spin, Monferno!
Grotle summons cyclones of leaves, spinning counterclockwise, and sends them towards the remaining tornadoes. On the other hand, Monferno summons cyclones of embers and does the same. The tornadoes around them soon dissipate. Rachel then turns to the scattering lightning strikes.
Rachel: Now to take care of these...
Taari: I have an idea.
Rachel and Reginald turn to Taari, curious. The Vaanti boy then turns to his Grotle.
Taari: Use Leech Seed, Grotle!
Grotle nods and plants multiple seeds on the ground. Multiple trunks then rise from the ground. They then tower over the three and their Pokémon. Soon after, the lightning strikes eventually hit the top of the trunks.
Reginald: I see, lightning rods. Good thinking, Taari.
Taari grins and the three await for more tornadoes to form.
Meanwhile somewhere slightly further away from the port, Aryn, Izzy and Katherine lead the citizens to safety.
Aryn: Everyone, head towards that area! For those of you who have Pokémon big enough for people to ride on, call them out now so we could move faster!
Aryn calls out her Pancham and Glaceon to lead them towards the designated area, with Glaceon using Mirror Coat as a light source and Pancham guiding everyone.
Izzy calls out her Dragonair and Eevee.
Izzy: Eevee, use Iron Tail and give us some light. Dragonair, take these people to that area.
Dragonair nods and lets the citizens mount her then slithers towards the safe area. Meanwhile, Eevee’s tail glows and leads the way for Dragonair and the running citizens. On the other hand, Katherine calls out her Oshawott.
Katherine: Okay, Oshawott. Use Razor Shell and help Eevee guide those people.
Oshawott nods and pulls out his shell. The shell then glows blue, giving a source of light. He then follows Eevee while Katherine helps the other citizens.
Back at the end of the pier, Blight and Vishakha continue to keep Gyarados at bay.
Blight: Steelix, use Combo #6, Thunder Tail!
Steelix’s fangs start to charge with electricity then bites his own tail, coating it with electricity. The tail then glows yellow, forming a lightning blade. He then charges towards Gyarados and swings his tail towards its head. However, Gyarados manages to duck and avoid the attack.
Blight: Damn!
The Guardian’s fangs are then surrounded by cold air as it bites Steelix’s tail. Ice Fang manages to insulate the electricity from the tail. With its fangs still on Steelix’s tail, Gyarados swings him around and Blight gets hit.
Blight: Woah!!
Vishakha: Jester!
Blight, hanging still on Steelix’s head, gets thrown with him to the sea by Gyarados. Vishakha runs towards the very end of the pier with her hand trying to reach her best friend.
Vishakha: Blight, no!!
Vishakha then glares at the Sea Guardian and clenches her fist.
Vishakha: You’re gonna pay for that!!
Feeling her partner’s rage, Mawile then leaps to the air, preparing to attack. Gyarados exchange looks with Mawile and fires a Hyper Beam at her.
Vishakha: Send it back with Metal Burst!
Mawile lets her self gets hit by the Hyper Beam. She then harnesses the attack, converting it to metallic energy. She then throws the empowered attack back at Gyarados. The Sea Guardian is struck by the attack and fall backwards into the sea. Seconds have passed and Vishakha and Mawile stand there, waiting.
Vishakha: Is it over?
She speculates.
Vishakha: No... it can’t be THAT easy...
Suddenly, a light glows underneath the sea. Vishakha spots this and takes a few steps backwards.
Vishakha: Get ready, Mawile...
Recommended Music: Fight or Flight (ILITW)
As they prepare themselves, the light then bursts. Gyarados rises again from the sea as it glows.
Vishakha: Don’t tell it’s...
Vishakha knows what’s going on. The Sea Guardian is Mega Evolving.
After the process, Gyarados menacingly approaches the pier.
Vishakha: Tch! This is bad...
Gyarados roars and the storm becomes worse. Strong winds start to blow from behind Gyarados. Vishakha and Mawile brace themselves.
Vishakha: This is REALLY bad!
Back at the Ferris Wheel, Absol comes out of her pokéball once again and points towards the sky.
Absol: Absol! (Watch out!)
Mika turns to her.
Mika: What is it, girl?
Suddenly, lightnings start to appear. The girls notice this but before they could react, a stray lightning strikes the supports. The Ferris Wheel then begins to tilt to the side, eventually falling towards Mika and Espeon. Meg, Kaitlyn and their Pokémon quickly rushes towards her.
Kaitlyn: MIKA!!
Meg: NO!!
Mika: ESPEON, PSYCHIC NOW!!
Espeon begins to release a massive burst of psyhic energy as she not only stops the Ferris Wheel but also the people falling from it. However, she starts to struggle with pain as she could not fully control her power with so much weight. She hurriedly carries the rest of the citizens down from the ride while Absol helps her.
Meanwhile back at the pier’s entrance, the tornadoes and lightnings grow stronger, making it more difficult to suppress them. The lightning strikes eventually destroys all of the trunks planted by Grotle.
Rachel: Oh no!
Reginald: Tch!
Taari: Grotle, keep using Leech Seed!
Grotle attempts to plant more trunks but due to the strong winds, the seeds are instead blown away rather than being planted on the ground.
Taari: Damn it!
On the other hand, in the safe area, Aryn and the others look over to her daughters and friends.
Aryn: For fuck’s sake! The storm is getting worse!
Aryn quickly stands up and begins to rush towards them.
Aryn: I gotta...
Before she could finish, someone else rushes past her and towards the vanguard.
Izzy: Is that...?!
Aryn: ELENA!!
Elena ignores Aryn as she makes her way towards the end of the pier. Meanwhile back at the end of the pier, as Mega Gyarados approaches, it starts to charge another Hyper Beam attack, only this time, it’s stronger. Vishakha grits her teeth.
Vishakha: I don’t think we can shoot this back without risking Mawile...
Before Gyarados could fire, it was first struck by a galvanic sphere. It flinches backwards and instead fires the Hyper Beam upwards. Vishakha turns to the source of the attack and spots her sister, Elena.
Elena: No one hurts my sister!

The two sisters rush towards each other and give each other a tight embrace.
Vishakha: I’m so glad you’re here!
Elena: You saved me before, li’l Sis. It’s time for me to return the favor.
The two then pull away and turn to the the Sea Guardian, trying to get up.
Elena: How do we keep that occupied while making it easier for the others to save everyone and call for help?
Vishakha: We have to lead it away from the pier.
The two girls start to look around the pier. Elena then spots something.
Elena: There!
She points towards an old but still functional pirate ship.
Vishakha: Is that...?!
Elena: The Dorado.
Vishakha: THE Dorado?! The famous ship that Mister Jake and the others used to defeat the previous Sea Guardian?!
Elena: The very same.
They quickly hurry towards the ship and eventually sails it towards the open sea. The Sea Guardian takes the bait and begins chasing after the Dorado.
Elena: We got its attention... now what?
Before Vishakha could reply, a beam of light bursts from the sea. Everyone in the entire port spots the light. Vishakha and Katherine grin as they both know what that very light signifies. From beneath the sea, a slender figure starts to rise. Its metallic body shimmers from the light while is red eyes start to gleam. Meanwhile, a lone person stands atop this figure. It’s Blight and his Steelix. Blight clutches his key pendant and taps his Mega Stone. He then chants.
Blight: Wreak havoc, Tyrant of the Desert... Steelix, MEGA EVOLVE!!
Light within Steelix’s body start to glow brighter, covering his entire body, as he begins to undergo Mega Evolution.
After the process, Steelix lets out a terrifying roar, enough to push Gyarados slightly back, while Vishakha and Elena raise their arms to brace themselves. They then turn to each other.
Elena: It’s time for us to let loose as well.
Vishakha: Yeah!
Vishakha clutches her star pendant while Elena clutches her left fist, wearing her glove. They both tap their Mega Stones and begin to chant.
Vishakha: No more nice girl! Time to unleash the Rebel! With a blossom glow and a hard core….Mawile, MEGA EVOLVE!
Elena: In my time of need, aid me Goddess of Lightning and bring down the thunder… Ampharos, MEGA EVOLVE!!
Mawile and Ampharos begin to glow as well, beginning to undergo Mega Evolution.
After the process, Mawile jumps high and lands next to Blight on top of Steelix head. He grins towards the Deceiver Pokémon and leaps off Steelix. He then activates his thruster boots and flies his way to the Dorado.
Blight: You guys got this!
Steelix and Mawile nod at him as he regroups with Vishakha, Elena and Ampharos.
Blight: Alright... LET’S DO THIS!!
Vishakha: YEAH!!
Elena: YEAH!!
The three turn their attention to the Sea Guardian as it glares towards Steelix and Mawile.
Elena: Ampharos, use Double Team then Zap Cannon!
Ampharos duplicates herself and, along with her clones, begins charging a galvanic sphere in her mouth before firing towards Gyarados. The Atrocious Pokémon spots the incoming attacks and initiates evasive maneuvers. Meanwhile, with the Sea Guardian distracted, Blight and Vishakha take action.
Blight: Steelix, use Thunder Fang on your tail!
Steelix’s fangs charge up with electricity as he bites his tail and coats it. The crystalline tail shines yellow.
Vishakha: Now, Mawile! Jump onto Steelix’s tail and bite it!
Mawile does what she is told. After biting Steelix’s tail with her two fanged heads, electricity begins to surge within her.
Blight: Now, throw her, Steelix!
Steelix spins his tail as Mawile holds on to him. He then swings it and launches Mawile towards Gyarados.
Vishakha: Alright! Use Metal Burst!
Mawile bursts out a bright yellow light and uses 80% of the electricity within her to empower herself. She then transfers the power into her fist and places them in front of her as she makes her way towards Gyarados.
Blight: True Sync Combo Move...
Vishakha: Number 3...
Both: STORM BREAKER RICOCHET!!
Mawile, covered entirely with electricity empowered by Metal Burst, turns into a form of a spear tip. Before it could react, Gyarados is pierced by a more powerful variation of Thunder Spear. As it flinches, Mawile uses Fairy Wind to stop in mid-air then uses Thunder Punch to recharge the electricity within her. She then uses Fairy once again to launch herself towards Gyarados and Metal Burst to empower her fists again. As she pierces the Sea Guardian once again, she keeps repeating the process.
Recommended Music: Fight or Flight (ILITW)
Meanwhile back at the Ferris Wheel, with only a few citizens left to save, Espeon keeps her hold while she brings them to Absol’s Icy Wind cushion. Mika worries about Espeon.
Mika: I’m so sorry, Espeon... but just hang on a little longer...
Espeon: Purr...
Meanwhile, Kaitlyn and Meg run around the Ferris Wheel with their Pokémon, creating ice pillars beneath the turned over Ferris Wheel to provide Espeon support.
Meg: Keep using Ice Beam, Audino!
Kaitlyn: Ice Punch, Riolu!
After a few seconds, Espeon and Absol manage to save all of the passengers of the Ferris Wheel. However, as soon as the last passenger escapes the vicinity, a lightning strikes the center of the Ferris Wheel, strongly pushing it downwards. The ice pillars break and Espeon lets go of her grip over the ride. The Ferris Wheel begins to fall towards Mika and her Pokémon. Kaitlyn and Meg attempt to reach her.
Kaitlyn: MIKA!!!!
Meg: NO!!!!
But before the Ferris Wheel could crash on the three, Riolu quickly rushes towards them and begins to glow. Kaitlyn’s eyes brighten from the sight.
Kaitlyn: Riolu, you’re... you’re evolving!
Riolu starts to undergo evolution and quickly evolves to Lucario.
Lucario then clenches his fist as cold air surrounds it. He then uses Ice Punch on the ground and gigantic shards of ice start to rise from it. The shards hold the Ferris Wheel in place. Mika and Kaitlyn marvel at the shard formation, noticing that the scale is similar to what Reginald’s Metagross made in the Pokélympics. Mika and her Pokémon then look at Lucario.
Mika: Thank you, Lucario.
Espeon: Meww!
Absol: Sol!
Lucario nods at them and looks at the Ferris Wheel. He then turns to Audino.
Lucario: Rar!
Audino grins and nods at Lucario and rushes beside him. The rest look at them in confusion.
Kaitlyn: Lucario? What are you doing?
Meg: What’s up, Audino?
Lucario and Audino begin to use Psychic at the Ferris Wheel, lifting it up. Lucario then stares at Kaitlyn and nods towards the end of the pier. Kaitlyn looks at the ensuing battle and understands quickly.
Kaitlyn: You’re going to throw THAT to the Sea Guardian?!
Lucario grins and, along with Audino, quickly throws the Ferris Wheel towards the Sea Guardian.
Meanwhile at the pier’s entrance, Rachel, Taari and Reginald struggle on the empowered tornadoes and lightning strikes.
Taari: We can’t even do anything right now!
Rachel: What do we do?!
Reginald: I have an idea. Go, Metagross! Use a full-powered Psychic!
Reginald throws another pokéball and Metagross comes out of his pokéball. He then immediately releases a burst of telekinetic energy. The strong tornadoes freeze in place but the lightning strikes are still present. Reginald turns to Rachel and Taari.
Reginald: Quick! While Metagross is occupying the tornadoes, get rid of them and hit the lightning strikes before they hit the ground!
The two nod at the boy as they call out their second partners.
Taari: Let’s go, Gallade!
Rachel: Come out, Blastoise!
The three then give their commands.
Rachel: Froslass, use Ice Shards at the lightning strikes! Blastoise, you do the same with Hydro Pump!
Taari: Grotle, use Seed Bomb on the lightning strikes! Gallade, slash those tornadoes in half with Psycho Cut!
Reginald: Monferno, use Fire Blast on the incoming lightning!
The five Pokémon take action. Gallade unleashes his elbow blades and sends multiple pink crescent blades at the frozen tornadoes. After taking enough hits, the tornadoes dissipate. Meanwhile, Froslass sends large shards of ice towards the incoming lightning strikes. The lightning strikes hit the shards, being prevented from hitting the ground. Blastoise fires a jet of water from his cannons and produces a similar result. Grotle throws explosive seeds towards the sky, while Monferno fires a “大” shaped flame. Both resulting in success. After the settling the storm, the three trainers high five. They then turn towards the ongoing fight at the end of the pier.
Rachel: Now, we have to help them...
Recommended Music: Adventurer’s Theme (ES)
Meanwhile back at the end of the pier, Mawile and Ampharos keep striking Gyarados with their respective attacks. On the other hand, Steelix charges a Hyper Beam and fires it towards the Atrocious Pokémon. Gyarados flinches once again and Blight, Vishakha and Elena cheer.
Blight: Direct hit!
Vishakha: Wooh!
Elena: Alright!
The Sea Guardian has had enough and lets out a menacing roar. Mawile loses composure and falls in the sea. Meanwhile, Ampharos covers her ears while her clones disappear due to the roar. Gyarados then attempts to summon a hurricane. Blight grits his teeth.
Blight: Damn it! Everyone brace!
But before they could do anything, the Ferris Wheel collides with Gyarados’s head. The Atrocious Pokémon staggers and loses control of the hurricane as the Ferris Wheel falls into the sea. The three trainers look at the trajectory and sees Meg, Kaitlyn and Mika waving at them.
Vishakha: They did it!
Elena: As expected.
Blight: They just might pull of the League and contests...
Gyarados then shakes its head and attempts to regain control of the hurricane. However, psychic energy begins to take control of the hurricane. Blight, Vishakha and Elena turn towards the entrance of the pier and see Reginald’s Metagross using Psychic on the hurricane. The hurricane is then sent towards Gyarados’s abdomen. It then lifts the Sea Guardian up into the air. Blight then looks up at Gyarados.
Blight: Alright, let’s finish this! Steelix, go after it and use Thunder Tail!
Vishakha: You too, Mawile! Use Focus Punch!
Steelix readies himself and leaps up towards the Sea Guardian. Mawile, on the other hand, leaps from the sea at high speeds and reaches Gyarados’s head. Steelix bites his tail with Thunder Fang and proceeds to use Iron Tail with electricity coated in his tail. Meanwhile, Mawile clenches her fist as it starts to glow blue. Blight and Vishakha begins to think to themselves.
Blight’s Mind: Even if...
Vishakha’s Mind: We’re against a Guardian...
Mawile uses Fairy Wind to boost herself towards Gyarados’s face while Steelix manages to reach Gyarados and begins to swing his tail.
Blight’s Mind: ...and with only Steelix’s tail...
Vishakha’s Mind: ...and with only Mawile’s fist...
Steelix swings his electricity-coated tail on the side of Gyarados’s abdomen and Mawile punches Gyarados square in the face.
Both: THAT’S ENOUGH FOR ME!!
Aryn watches from afar and smiles at the two’s teamwork.
Aryn: As expected from such great friends...
After being struck with such strong attacks, Gyarados falls unconscious but doesn’t revert to its regular form. Elena, however, takes the opportunity.
Elena: Now’s our chance!
Unfortunately, the Sea Guardian regains consciousness and immediately uses Ice Fang on Steelix. But the Iron Snake Pokémon manages to quickly tilts his head to the side, avoiding the attack.
Blight: One more time, Steelix!
Elena: Use a full-powered Signal Beam, Ampharos!
Ampharos fires a massive prismatic beam towards Gyarados. But before it could reach it, Steelix swings his tail once again and strikes the side of the abdomen one more time. Gyarados vision starts to blur as it begins reverting back to its regular form, but not before being struck by Ampharos’s Signal Beam. Gyarados then falls completely unconscious and falls into the sea.
Recommeded Music: At Dawn, We Rise (ES)
The Sea Guardian reverts back to normal as Steelix and Mawile land safely. The three other Mega Pokémon also reverts back to normal. Blight sails the Dorado towards the unconscious Sea Guardian. The three trainers then slowly approach it.
Vishakha: Did we win?
Elena: I think so...
Suddenly, a voice calls out to them.
Voice: Hey!!
They turn to see Taylor, Jake and Quinn at the end of the pier.
Taylor: You guys get back to shore!
Jake: We’ll take it from here.
Blight nods and returns Steelix to his pokéball. Vishakha and Elena do the same. The three then sail the Dorado back to the pier. Quinn then begins to channel her powers and floats towards the unconscious Guardian. She places her hand on its forehead.
Quinn: I purge you from your corruption, Guardian. You are now free from darkness.
Quinn manages to free Gyarados from corruption. After a few seconds, the Sea Guardian wakes and thanks Quinn. It then roars to clear the storm.
Recommended Music: Surf and Sand (ES)
Meanwhile at the port, the group reunites. Aryn, Izzy, Vishakha, Rachel, Meg and Elena pull each other into a loving family hug.
Aryn: You were all so amazing out there!
Izzy: We are so proud of you.
Vishakha: Thank you so much, Mommies!
Rachel: I love you!
Meg: Aryndelle for life!
Elena: Aryndelle FOREVER!!
Meanwhile, Taari, Kaitlyn, Mika and Reginald high five each other.
Taari: You guys were so overwhelming!
Kaitlyn: Thanks, Taari. But you guys were too, you know.
Mika: I’m still so happy about Kaitlyn’s Lucario evolving.
Reginald: Agreed. Congrats, Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn: Thanks, guys!
And lastly, Blight and Katherine share a soft and tender kiss.
Katherine: You were... amazing out there, dear.
Blight: Hehe... thank you.
The two smile at each other while the rest of the group backs away.
Vishakha: Let’s... uhh... give those two some space. Haha.
As the clouds part, the sunset brightens the entire sky. Everyone turns to admire the sunset. Taari’s eyes light up with determination.
Taari: ...Autumn is here!
Meanwhile from atop the Orderve City Lighthouse, a familiar man with a goatie looks through a pair of binoculars.
Man: So... it has begun...

The second round of the Pokélympics have just been announced and Taari is now being targeted by every single competitor. Estela and Jake breaks the tension between them.
Jake: Alright, now before you all start tearing Taari apart, let’s discuss teams first.
Before Estela could explain the formation of teams, Aryn shouts from the announcer booth.
Aryn: NO! TEAR HIM APART NOW!! GIVE. ME. SOME. BLOOD!!
Taari trembles uncomfortably until Blight settles Aryn down.
Blight: Jesus Christ! Have you been drinking?!
Aryn: ....No....
Aryn denies Blight’s question as she “subtly” hides a bottle of wine behind her. Blight spots the bottle and does a facepalm.
Blight: Estela, please go ahead. I’m sorry.
Estela nods and continues the explanation.
Estela: Now, each team must be composed of a maximum of four members. It’s up to all of you whether you want to go solo or pair with another competitor, as long as you are using at least one Pokémon in the battle.
Jake: One competitor could either go solo and use up to three Pokémon or he/she could pair up with another competitor and each have to use only one Pokémon. It is mandatory that there has to be a mount Pokémon and a rider.
After hearing the explanation, the competitors discuss.
Competitor 1: So, it’s a matter of whether or not you’re good at doing things alone or with someone else.
Competitor 2: I usually rely on people too much.
Competitor 3: Well, not me.
Competitor 1: I wonder if the Vaanti boy in first place is playing it solo?
Competitors 2 & 3: Yeah...
Estela and Jake now move on to the game’s rules.
Estela: And now, we move on to the rules of the game. The time limit is fifteen minutes. The rider from each team must wear a headband that contains the total points the team has. For example, if you are worth 15 points and your partner is worth 25 points, then your team is worth a total of 40 points.
Jake: The goal is to steal as much points as you can without getting any of your points stolen from you until the time runs out. Stolen headbands must be kept around the rider’s neck. The more you steal, the more difficult it will be to manage.
Estela: It’s also important to take note that even if you’re no longer wearing any headbands or if any of you accidentally fall apart, you will not be counted as out. You can still play the game. However, if you intentionally cause one team to fall apart, then you are disqualified.
Jake: The eight competitors with the highest points by the end of the game moves on to the last round of the Pokélympics.
(Author’s Notes: I really tried my best to explain the rules. If you’re still confused, just watch My Hero Academia Season 2, Episodes 4-5.)
A timer of fifteen minutes start to appear of the stadium’s television.
Jake: And now, it’s time for you guys to build your teams! You have fifteen minutes to do so. START!
The competitors walk around the field. Some are asking others to pair up with them, while those, who are playing solo, are planning their team. Taari shifts uncomfortably because no one wanted to be his partner. He is trapped in his thoughts.
Taari: This is bad. I don’t know if I could even play solo. My Pokémon aren’t strong enough to fight everyone. I need someone to pair up with, someone I can trust.
A finger taps on Taari’s shoulder. He turns to see a smiling Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn: Taari, let’s team up!
Taari is caught by surprise.
Taari: Wait, what?! But I’m a target. That could put you at risk. Besides, I assumed that you would team up with Mika.
Kaitlyn looks away, uneasy.
Kaitlyn: Something... happened recently...
As Kaitlyn tells the story, her mind flashes back to a few minutes ago...
[FLASHBACK SCENE]
Kaitlyn approaches Mika with a smile.
Kaitlyn: Mika, let’s team up!
Mika takes a moment to think and makes her decision.
Mika: As much as I want to, Kaitlyn... I can’t accept it.
Kaitlyn: What? Why?
Mika: Because... just like with Elena to Reginald, I am a rival to you too. We can’t always be buddy-buddy with each other, especially when we’re competing against each other. I’m really sorry, but this is what must be done.
Kaitlyn considers Mika’s words and understands the situation.
Kaitlyn: I see. I guess I wish the best of luck to you then, Mika.
Mika: You too, Kaitlyn.
The two exchange hugs and part ways. Mika returns to Elena, who she has already paired with. Kaitlyn fights to hide her pain and walks away, towards Taari.
[END OF FLASHBACK]
Taari worries about Kaitlyn and puts a hand on her shoulder.
Taari: I’m so sorry, Kaitlyn. Don’t worry. I’ll be your partner.
Kaitlyn: Really?
Taari: Yeah. I never turn my back on a friend.
Kaitlyn: Thank you so much, Taari.
The two best friends shake hands and discuss their strategy. On the other hand, Reginald is by himself, planning to play solo.
Fifteen minutes have passed and all of the competitors are already in place for the second round.
Taari and Kaitlyn's team is composed of Taari as the rider, Kaitlyn as the watchful eyes, Kaitlyn’s Riolu as support, and Taari’s Grotle as the mount. Meanwhile, Elena and Mika’s team is composed of Elena as the rider, Mika as the watchful eyes, Mika’s Wartortle as support, and Elena’s Arcanine as the mount. And lastly, Reginald’s team is composed of him as the rider, his Monferno and Croconaw as supports, and his Metagross as the mount.
Timer has been set on the Stadium Television.
Blight: The wait is over, ladies and gentlemen. It’s time to begin the second round of the Pokélympics.
Aryn: Yeah! Bring out the BLOODSHED!!
Blight: Okay. That’s it... Mimikyu, get me some tape!
Mimikyu and Pancham are right behind Blight and Aryn, playing with each other. Hearing Blight’s command, Mimikyu immediately pulls out a tape from its disguise. Aryn retorts.
Aryn: Oh no, you don’t! Pancham stop Mimikyu!
Aryn’s Pancham chases around Blight’s Mimikyu and the two cute little Pokémon run around in circles. Meanwhile, Aryn pushes Blight off of his seat.
Aryn: You deserve that. And I know you’re obliged to not hit a girl.
Blight smirks and gets up.
Blight: Hmph. I don’t go for the clichés, Aryn. If a girl hurts me, I will not hesitate to fight back. I AM A GUY WHO DOES WHAT HE HAS TO DO! YOU’D DO WELL TO REMEMBER THAT!
A comedic fight ensues in the announcer booth. Meanwhile, everyone else in the stadium does a facepalm in disappointment. Back at the center of the stadium, Estela is annoyed and Jake laughs, as they commence the beginning of the game.
Jake: Hehe... ahem!... Let the second round of the Pokélympics...
Estela: ...BEGIN!!
Recommended Music: Arena (Monster Hunter Generations)
Horns have sounded and most of the competitors set their eyes towards Taari’s team. They rush towards him, aiming for his headband, with some having unleashed ranged attacks. Kaitlyn gives a counter.
Kaitlyn: Riolu, use Vacuum Wave!
Kaitlyn’s Riolu spins and gathers air. Afterwards, it sends the air wave flying towards the ranged attacks, scattering them away from Taari’s Grotle.
Taari: Good. Grotle, run away as fast as you can and use Stealth Rock.
Grotle turns the other way and dashes away from the other competitors. While running away, it scatters floating stone shards around him to act as speed bumps to those chasing them. The other competitors struggle to maneuver through Grotle’s Stealth Rock attack.
Suddenly, Grotle stops. Taari and Kaitlyn look at what’s in front of them, and it is Reginald and his Pokémon. His eyes are filled with determination.
Reginald: I’ll be taking that ten million points now.
Taari: Tch!
Kaitlyn: Bring it!
While the three friends face off, other competitors catch up to them.
Competitor 1: Those ten million points will be mine!
Competitor 2: Don’t you mean “ours”?!
Competitors: No, it will be mine!
The competitors try to gain on Taari’s team until...
Reginald: You won’t do anything while I’m here. Metagross, use Thunder Punch on the ground! Croconaw, use Ice Beam and surround us and Taari’s team with an ice wall!
Hearing Reginald’s commands, Metagross raises its arm as it starts to conduct electricity around it, while Croconaw prepares to fire Ice Beam. Metagross slams its fist on the ground and electricity starts to surge throughout the field, electrocuting most of the competitors that aren’t using Ground-type Pokémon as mounts. Afterwards, Croconaw fires Ice Beam and creates a circular ice wall around Reginald’s team and Taari’s team. Meanwhile, the electric surge released by Metagross’s Thunder Punch starts to make its way to Taari’s Grotle.
Taari: Grotle, use Protect!
Grotle creates an invisible barrier in front of him and blocks the electric surge. Taari and Kaitlyn look around to find out that they are trapped.
Kaitlyn: Damn!
Taari: We still have ten minutes. We can do this!
Kaitlyn: Roger!
Reginald: You can’t hold out for much longer. Metagross, Ice Punch on the ground.
Metagross’s other arm starts to get cold. It then slams its fist on the ground, creating ice shards as they make their way towards Taari’s team.
Taari: He’s trying to immobilize us with ice!
Kaitlyn: Leave it to me! Riolu, use Force Palm to break the ice and Vacuum Wave to send it back!
Riolu jumps from Kaitlyn’s shoulder and thrusts its palm unto the ice shards. The shards break and Metagross’s attack stops. With smaller shards of ice in the air, Riolu sends them flying back to Reginald’s team with Vacuum Wave.
Reginald: Use Flamethrower, Monferno!
From Reginald’s left shoulder, Monferno jumps up and breathes a large jet of fire. The fire melts the ice shards heading towards them. When the flame dissipates, the first thing that Reginald sees is a silhouette quickly grabbing Taari’s headband. Reginald is shocked to see who it was.
Reginald: When did you?...
Taari: What the?!
Kaitlyn: No!
The person who grabbed Taari’s headband is revealed to be Mika. Beside her, is Elena who smirks and looks at Reginald.
Elena: We will be the ones on top!
Mika: Quick! Let’s get out of here!
Elena: On it! Arcanine, use Flame Charge!
Arcanine covers itself in flames as it charges towards the ice wall. As he approaches, the ice starts to melt, eventually breaking once hit by his Flame Charge attack. Reginald laments and rushes to chase after Elena and Mika.
Reginald: Tch! Metagross, use Psychic and take us to the sky! Monferno, use Flamethrower to boost us up! Croconaw, use Hydro Pump to do the same!
Metagross uses telekinesis to levitate. As it rises upwards, Monferno and Croconaw fire their respective attacks on the ground in order to rise faster.
Meanwhile, Taari and Kaitlyn get out of the ice wall.
Taari: Elena and Mika are hard to deal with at this situation.
Kaitlyn: We should try to get points that are not just from them. We still have 8 minutes!
Taari: Got it!
Taari and Kaitlyn ignores Elena, Mika and Reginald, as they turn around to get points from the competitors that are rendered useless by Metagross’s Thunder Punch.
As Elena’s team runs away, Reginald immediately catches up. Mika notices this.
Mika: Above us!
Elena: Tch!
Reginald: Metagross, drop down and use Hammer Arm!
Metagross lets go of its telekinesis and drops down. On its way down, it crosses all of its four arms below its body, forming an “X”. Metagross impacts the ground and stone shards start to scatter around him.
Reginald: Now, use Psychic and throw launch those shards at them!
Metagross takes control of all the shards in the air and fires them towards Elena and Mika’s team.
Mika: Wartortle, use Hydro Pump!
Mika’s Wartortle fires a large jet of water at the shards and keeps them away. After the water dissipates, they see a small silhouette in the sky.
Elena: Who?!
Mika: What’s that?!
The silhouette is revealed to be Reginald’s Monferno.
Reginald: Before the Hydro Pump attack hits the shard, I ordered my Monferno to use Acrobatics on those shards. And before getting hit by Hydro Pump, he immediately jumps up. Now, Monferno, use Flame Charge and get the ten million points! Metagross, use Psychic to catch Monferno once he’s done!
Reginald’s Monferno is quickly covered in flames as he rushes towards Elena. He grabs a headband and is eventually caught by Metagross’s Psychic. Once Monferno comes back to his team, Reginald looks at the headband they stole. He is surpised that it was NOT the ten million point headband. He looks back at Elena and Mika.
Mika: I shuffled the positions of the headbands, just in case!
Elena: We are winning this, Reginald.
Reginald’s anger is fueled.
Reginald: Tch! Let’s go!
Reginald’s Metagross uses Psychic one more time to levitate itself and rushes towards his two opponents. Meanwhile, Taari and Kaitlyn comes back to them.
Taari: Come on, Kaitlyn! We’re still not in the Top 8. And there’s only 1 minute left!
Kaitlyn: Don’t worry, Taari. We’ll get it for sure!
Two teams start to rush towards Elena and Mika. Meanwhile, back at the announcer booth, Aryn and her Pancham are taped to their seat, while Blight and his Mimikyu are beside them, all bruised up.
Blight: THIRTY SECONDS UNTIL THE MATCH IS OVER!
Taari stands up on top of a trotting Grotle, keeping his balance.
Taari: Steady, Grotle.
Kaitlyn: What are you doing?
Taari: I’m getting back our points by jumping at them.
Kaitlyn: We’ll be disqualified if you hit the ground.
Taari: I’ll be fine. I have to time this right, so that the timer will reach zero before I hit the ground.
As Taari prepares to jump, Elena and Mika ready themselves, while Reginald attacks.
Elena: Arcanine, Flamethrower.
Mika: Wartortle, use Aura Sphere.
Reginald: Monferno, Croconaw, use our Frost-Fire combo!
Elena’s Arcanine breathes a jet of fire from its mouth towards Reginald, while his Monferno and Croconaw use Flamethrower and Ice Beam respectively, to fire a combination of hot and cold. On the other hand, Mika’s Wartortle conjures a sphere of blue energy, ready to counter whatever Taari and Kaitlyn are planning to do.
The hot and cold attacks collide. Taari jumps from Grotle and Wartortle fires his Aura Sphere. Taari barely dodges the attack and reaches for the points until...
Aryn: TIME’S UP!!
Taari immediately flops on the ground.
Aryn: Now, it’s time for us to announce our Top 8 competitors who will make it to the last round!
The competitors gather around Estela and Jake as they prepare to announce the winners.
Estela: For the first two who will be in the final round... ELENA AND MIKA!
Elena and Mika high fives as the crowd cheers for them.
Elena: Nice job.
Mika: You too.
Jake: For the the third competitor to enter the final round... REGINALD!
Reginald doesn’t celebrate but instead laments on his loss.
Reginald: Damn...
While Jake and Estela announce the other winners, Taari wipes the tears on his eyes. Kaitlyn approaches him.
Kaitlyn: What’s wrong, Taari?
Taari: It’s just that... we never really got the chance to win here.
Kaitlyn: Oh, but we did!
Taari: What do you mean?
Kaitlyn: Back when you jumped from Grotle. I threw Riolu towards Elena and he used Quick Attack to get at least one of her headbands before the timer ran out.
Kaitlyn shows to Taari the headband that Riolu took.
Kaitlyn: I got enough points to get us in the final round.
Taari starts to cry tears of joy as he looks at Estela and Jake for the announcement.
Jake: And the last two who are in the final round.... TAARI AND KAITLYN!
The crowd goes wild after the announcement of the winners. Taari starts to cry a fountain of tears while Kaitlyn comforts him. Back at the announcer booth...
Aryn: That’s it for now, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll be taking a lunch break before we move on to the final round.
Aryn turns to Blight and removes his restrains.
Aryn: There. I did things right for once. Happy?
Blight: Yeah. Now you owe me lunch.
Aryn: Don’t push it.
Aryn cracks her knuckles.
Blight: Alright, alright. Sorry. I’ll meet up with Estela and Jake first.
During lunch break, Reginald walks outside to get some fresh air. When he turns around a corner, he spots a man wearing an Arachnid armor.
Arachnid Soldier: Yes. No signs of corruption in this city as of today... Understood.
The Arachnid soldier immediately notices Reginald and runs away. Reginald, filled with rage due to his grandfather’s actions, chases the man. The two end up at the center of the stadium, where Blight, Estela and Jake happens to be at the moment. Blight spots them and quickly rushes to them. Estela and Jake follows Blight’s gaze and they are caught by surprise.
Jake: An Arachnid soldier?! Here?!
Estela: Diego was right! That bastard is back to his schemes!
Blight dashes and gets in the way of the Arachnid soldier.
Arachnid Soldier: Tch! Out of the way!
Reginald: I got you!
Arachnid Soldier: Damn!
Reginald pulls out his pokéball.
Reginald: Let’s go, Meta--
Blight: No need, young Reginald... Let me handle this.

It’s the final match of the Pokélympics and the crowd is excited for the results. In the announcer booth, Aryn and her two daughters, Vishakha and Meg, are about to introduce the final match.
Aryn: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the final match of this year’s Pokélympics. A lot has happened to reach this point, so before we could introduce our competitors, we’d like to point out the highlights of this year.
Vishakha: Starting off on the first round, we have Reginald’s instant victory over the giant robot with his Metagross’s Ice Punch. Next, we have Taari’s quick take over of the lead with a smart move using the mines as a way to reach first place.
Meg: On the second round, Elena and Mika were able to grab the ten million points thus earning them first place. On the final round, Taari’s turn around against Zh’en, Reginald’s instant win, Kaitlyn and Mika’s emotional fight, another emotional fight between Reginald and Taari, and lastly, Elena and Mika’s epic fight.
Aryn: And now, we move on to our competitors, Prodigy versus Prodigy!
Vishakha: On the red side, the Prodigy of La Huerta, Reginald!
Meg: On the blue side, the Prodigy of Aryndelle, Elena!
At the mention of their names, Reginald and Elena approach their respective sides of the battlefield. Before calling out their Pokémon, the two have a small conversation.
Elena: May the best trainer win, Reginald.
Reginald: I don’t just plan to win today... I plan to reveal to the world who I truly am and who I want to be.
Elena: Hmph. Guess we both have a similar goal.
Back in the announcer booth, Vishakha receives a text from Blight.
Blight’s Text: Hey, so it’s the final round. Let’s make a bet. If Reginald wins, I don’t have to do the bet we’ve agreed to last year.
Vishakha puffs her cheeks and texts back.
Vishakha’s Text: Oh yeah?! Well, if Elena wins, you won’t get cookies from me for a year.
Blight’s Text: WHAT?!
Vishakha’s Text: It’s what you get for bailing on me!
Blight’s Text: I don’t want to be the Cookieless Man again!
Vishakha: Well, too bad!
Vishakha sets her phone on silent and puts it back in her pocket as she turns her attention back at the match. Meanwhile at the entrances of the battlefield, a masked figure wearing a red hoodie watches the match. Eventually, Reginald and Elena call out their Pokémon.
Reginald: Let’s do this, Metagross!
Elena: Ampharos, I’m counting on you!
They then tap on their Mega Stones and say their chants.
Reginald: Bring forth your legendary strength and reveal your true form... Metagross, MEGA EVOLVE!!
Elena: In my time of need, aid me Goddess of Lightning and bring down the thunder… Ampharos, MEGA EVOLVE!!
The two Pokémon from each side then start to undergo Mega Evolution.
After the two processes, Reginald and Elena’s friends start to discuss in the Recovery room.
Taari: Mega Evolution, already?
Kaitlyn: They’re probably settling this once and for all.
Mika: This is probably the greatest match in the history of the Pokélympics.
Estela looks at both competitors before raising her arm.
Estela: Let the match... BEGIN!!
Recommended Music: Johto Gym (Pokémon)
At the start of the match, Reginald quickly goes on the offense.
Reginald: Use Ice Punch, Metagross!
Metagross slams two of its arms on the ground and sends two streams of ice shards towards Ampharos.
Elena: You really like using that move, huh? Ampharos, use Focus Blast!
Ampharos conjures a large blue sphere with her hands and slams it on the ground. The attack causes a powerful blast of energy to burst from the point of impact. The ice shards break apart and pieces of them are launched towards Metagross.
Reginald: Quick, use Iron Defense!
Metagross braces itself and takes the broken ice shards head on. He takes very little damage and shakes it off.
Reginald: Now, use our new combo attack, Meteor Mash and Ice Punch!
Metagross jets itself towards Ampharos while spinning like a drill. Cold air then starts to surround it until it creates an ice drill heading straight towards Ampharos. Elena is impressed.
Elena: Huh... that’s new. Ampharos, use Zap Cannon!
Ampharos fires a large electric sphere at Metagross. However, when the attack and Metagross collided, the ice drill is now empowered by electricity. Reginald grins. Meanwhile, Elena and Ampharos are startled by what was happening, and quickly defends themselves.
Elena: Cotton Guard, now!
Ampharos’s cotton-like hair starts to grow, surrounding herself with a cotton armor. She takes the electrified ice drill head on. Metagross struggles to push its opponent out of bounds.
Elena: Now, use Dragon Pulse!
Ampharos charges a rainbow-colored attack and fires a dragon-shaped beam at point-blank range. The ice drill shatters and Metagross staggers backwards.
Reginald: Damn it!
Elena: Use Focus Blast, Ampharos!
Ampharos conjures another large blue sphere between her hands and throws it towards Metagross. The Iron Leg Pokémon is pushed further back to its side of the battlefield. Elena grins.
Elena: Now, it’s time for our own combo. Ampharos, use Zap Cannon then Dragon Pulse!
Ampharos first fires an electric sphere towards Metagross then fires a dragon-shaped beam towards the sphere. The dragon beam then eats the sphere which then grows in size and is now covered with electricity. The electrified dragon beam continues its way towards Metagross.
Reginald: That does look awesome. Metagross, use Flash Cannon!
Metagross fires a blinding beam of light towards the Electrified Dragon Pulse. The two attacks collide but Ampharos’s attack eventually breaks Metagross’s attack.
Reginald: Dodge it!
Metagross hovers its way backwards, avoiding the attack. However, it turns to see Ampharos, conjuring a Focus Blast right in front of it.
Elena: Throw it now!
Reginald: Tch! Ice Punch then Psychic!
Before Ampharos could throw her Focus Blast at her opponent, Metagross first slams one fist on the ground to create a thick ice wall. Metagross then uses Psychic to move the wall and push back Ampharos, who is still holding her Focus Blast attack.
Elena: Damn you, Reginald. Use your Focus Blast to break the wall!
Ampharos does it so. She slams her attack on the wall which shatters, sending ice shards towards Metagross.
Reginald: Ice Punch again!
Metagross slams two of its fist on the ground once again. This time, it sends a gigantic stream of ice shards towards Ampharos, similar to what happened on its match against Vikavolt but at a smaller scale. The stream breaks the ice shards being sent to Metagross.
Elena: Use Zap Cannon!
This time, Ampharos fires a larger electric sphere towards the oncoming stream of ice shards. The two attacks collide and the shards shatter. Multiple sharp pieces of ice are launched around the arena, but before it could hit anyone...
Reginald: Use Psychic on the ice shards!
Metagross uses telekinesis and takes control of all of the ice shards, It then sends them flying towards Ampharos.
Elena: Cotton Guard, quick!
Ampharos covers herself with cotton armor and blocks all of the ice shards launched towards her. After a barrage of attacks, the two Pokémon start to breathe heavily. Everyone in the stadium stare in awe.
Aryn: Amazing! Both Pokémon are still standing strong after giving it everything they’ve got!
Vishakha: But with both Pokémon this tired, Reginald and Elena will have to resort to their best moves to finish it all.
Meg: But who will win?...
Back at the battlefield, Reginald and Elena unleash their final attacks.
Reginald: Metagross, let’s use that Ice Drill attack again!
Elena: Ampharos, do another Lightning Dragon!
Metagross spins once again like a drill, encasing itself with ice. It then charges towards Ampharos, who fires another electrified Dragon Pulse at Metagross. The two attacks collide but Metagross easily breaks Ampharos’s attack. Reginald grins while Elena grits her teeth in anguish.
Reginald: Guess it’s not strong enough for our combo attack, Elena. NOW, METAGROSS! FINISH IT!!
Metagross charges at full speed towards Ampharos. However, Elena smirks.
Elena: You’re getting too confident, Reginald.
Reginald: Huh?!
Elena: Now, Ampharos!
Ampharos quickly tilts her head to the side, avoiding Metagross and its attack. Reginald and his partner are caught by surprise. Elena starts to monologue.
Elena: I purposely made Ampharos’s Lightning Dragon attack so Metagross would boost its way towards her so she could use her true final attack with all she’s got... NOW, AMPHAROS! USE ONE LAST FOCUS BLAST!!
Ampharos quickly gets behind Metagross and conjures one final Focus Blast. She then slams it at Metagross before it could anything. Metagross’s momentum with its Ice Drill attack, along with Ampharos’s Focus Blast, launches the Iron Leg Pokémon out of bounds. Reginald stares blankly at his loss and soon after smiles, accepting his defeat. Elena, meanwhile, grins in victory.
Estela declares the winner.
Estela: Metagross is out of bounds! Elena and her Ampharos are the winners of the match and... THE NEW CHAMPION OF THE POKÉLYMPICS!!
The crowd cheers loudly, even Aryn goes crazy in the announcer booth.
Aryn: ELENA WINS! MY DAUGHTER WON!! WOOOOHHH!!!
Meanwhile, Vishakha and Meg clap and laugh. Vishakha texts Blight one more time.
Vishakha’s Text: I win, Jester! 😝
Blight’s Text: Damn it! NO!!
Back in the battlefield, Elena and Reginald comfort their Pokémon, who have returned to their normal states.
Reginald: We may have lost, Metagross, but I have no regrets... we did our best.
Elena: Great work, Ampharos. I’m so very proud of you!
After returning their Pokémon to their pokéballs, Reginald and Elena approach each other and shake their hands.
Reginald: Congratulations, Elena.
Elena: Thank you, Reginald. It was a great match.
Reginald: It was.
Back in the announcer booth...
Aryn: And now, ladies and gentlemen, we move on to the awards cere--
Recommended Music: The Hunted (ES)
Before Aryn could finish, someone interrupts her.
Voice: Hold on just one minute!!
Everyone turns at the source of the voice located at one of the field entrances. In the Recovery room, Taari, Kaitlyn and Mika recognizes the person.
Kaitlyn: That’s...!
Mika: The... it can’t be...
Taari: The Flame... Vigilante...
The Flame Vigilante approaches Reginald and Elena on the battlefield. Before Estela and Jake could stop him, a figure drops from the sky. The figure is revealed to be a Blaziken and his foot seems to be engulf in flames as he swipes his foot around the ground. A circle of fire surrounds Reginald, Elena and the Flame Vigilante, blocking them from everyone.
Flame Vigilante: I don’t want any interruptions.
Elena and Reginald stare at the Flame Vigilante in anger.
Elena: What do you want from us?!
Reginald: Don’t you have any Arachnid soldiers to stop?!
The hooded vigilante scoffs at them.
Flame Vigilante: Elena, Reginald... I challenge you both in a battle.
The Flame Vigilante taps on his left eye, which is revealed to be a Mega Stone. He then starts to chant.
Flame Vigilante: Fly high into the sky and unleash the Phoenix... Blaziken, MEGA EVOLVE!!
Blaziken starts to undergo Mega Evolution...
Everyone in the stadium stares at the horror. In the announcer booth...
Aryn: Damn it. Vishakha, Meg, stay he--
Aryn turns to see Meg alone with no sign of Vishakha. Aryn starts to freak out.
Aryn: Where’s your sister?!
Meg: She just...
Back in the battlefield, Blaziken just finished the process of Mega Evolution. The Flame Vigilante goads Elena and Reginald.
Flame Vigilante: Now, call out your Pokémon.
The two prodigies comment at his request.
Elena: We just had a battle.
Reginald: True. Our Pokémon are tired.
The hooded vigilante brushes their comments off.
Flame Vigilante: Doesn’t matter. CALL. OUT. YOUR. POKÉMON.
Voice: Not so fast!
Someone manages to drop inside the circle of fire. It is revealed to be Vishakha!
Vishakha: You can’t just barge in here and challenge my sister like that!
Elena: Vishakha...
Vishakha calls out her Pokémon.
Vishakha: Let’s do this, Mawile!
Mawile comes out of her pokéball and gracefully lands on the ground. She then turns to Elena and Reginald, and smiles.
Vishakha: Leave it to me.
Meanwhile, outside the stadium, Blight watches a live broadcast of the battlefield. He smirks.
Blight: You got this, your Highness.
Back in the battlefield, the Flame Vigilante dismisses Vishakha.
Flame Vigilante: Out of the way!
Vishakha: No. You mess with my sister, you mess with me!
Vishakha pulls out her pendant and taps on her Mega Stone. She then starts to chant.
Vishakha: No more nice girl! Time to unleash the Rebel! With a blossom glow and a hard core....Mawile, MEGA EVOLVE!
Mawile starts to undergo Mega Evolution...
After the process, the Flame Vigilante and Blaziken senses strong power from Mawile.
Flame Vigilante: Tch! I may have underestimated you.
Vishakha: Nobody underestimates a princess of Aryndelle!
Elena has won the Pokélympics, but the Flame Vigilante comes in uninvited. Will Vishakha and Mawile beat the living sh!t out of him and his Blaziken? FIND OUT IN THE NEXT CHAPTER OF POKÉMON SUMMER VERSION!!

It’s the first match of the final round of the Pokélympics and Taari is in a pinch. His Incineroar, T’kal was hypnotized by a Hypno that is owned by his childhood friend Zh’en. T’kal walks towards Taari, on his way out of bounds. In the audience, Taari’s friends are horrified at what was happening.
Kaitlyn: Taari... No...
Mika: Come on, Taari, T’kal...
Reginald: ...Don’t lose now, Taari.
Elena: He’s not going to lose.
The three turn to Elena who is confident at Taari’s victory.
Reginald: How come?
Elena: Because unlike, Zh’en, Taari has spirit and his bond with his Pokémon.
They turn their attentions back at battlefield. Meanwhile, Taari tries to snap him out of the hypnosis.
Taari: T’kal! No! SHAKE IT OFF!!
At the mention of the words, “Shake it off”, Aryn pulls out a boombox and plays Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off. The song plays for a few seconds until Blight turns off the boombox and the two glare at each other.
Blight: No.
Aryn immediately sucker punches Blight out cold.
Aryn: That also goes for taping me up earlier.
Back in the battlefield, Taari scolds Zh’en.
Taari: Come on, Zh’en! Stop this and face us!
Zh’en: No... I’d rather teach you a lesson... “Never believe in legends.”
Zh’en’s words struck Taari, like a knife. Taari looks down and grits his teeth. Zh’en continues.
Zh’en: Those are the words that Uqzhaal wrote in his scriptures in Quarr’tel. As a shaman who used to believe so much about the Legend of the Catalysts, he was the person I least expected to hate them. But he had his reasons, and now I do too.
Taari: You don’t know what you’re saying...
Zh’en: But you do? Don’t make me laugh, Taari. The Catalysts are nothing but a joke.
Estela and Jake keep their calm and remain professional to their roles as umpires. They look at each other with the understanding that Taari will win the match.
Taari: I get it. The Legend of the Catalysts may have been a lie... but that doesn’t change anything I stand for.
Taari looks up at Zh’en and continues.
Taari: They are amazing and I want to be just like them. And nothing you say, true or false, will ever change that.
Zh’en: Then, prove it to me. Win... unless you can’t...
Taari then turns his attention to T’kal.
Taari: I. WILL. WIN!
Taari spreads his arms and gets in the way of T’kal. The Vaanti boy does not waver. He stands tall and determined to win.
Taari: T’kal, I know you’re in there. Don’t listen to them! SNAP OUT OF IT!!
Zh’en shakes her head in disappointment.
Zh’en: It’s useless, Taari. Your words won’t reach him. Just. Give. Up.
T’kal is almost out of bounds and is inches away from Taari. Zh’en continues her monologue, her eyes still closed in disappointment.
Zh’en: You may not be able to understand my circumstances, but I wish things would just go back the way they were before we met the Catalyst. Now, stop beating around the bush and lose already.
The Vaanti boy maintains eye contact.
Taari: Remember...
In T’kal’s mind, memories of him and Taari start to flash, eventually breaking the hypnosis. T’kal blinks his eyes and looks down at Taari, who is in tears after successfully saving him.
Taari: T’kal!
T’kal roars as Taari grins at his success. Back at the announcer booth, Aryn excites the audience.
Aryn: Ladies and gentlemen, T’kal was able to overcome the hypnosis!
The whole crowd cheers, while Taari’s friends are overwhelmed with so many emotions; Kaitlyn and Mika hug each other and cheer, Reginald deeply exhales and smiles, and Elena smirks.
Kaitlyn and Mika: He did it!
Reginald: Phew... Good job, Taari...
Elena: Not bad...
Meanwhile, back in the battlefield, Jake grins and Estela smirks at Taari’s success. There was only one person who was left unsatisfied, Zh’en. She opens her eyes in surprise that her Hypno’s hypnosis was broken.
Zh’en: How did you...? HOW?!
Taari ignores her question and instead grins at T’kal.
Taari: Use Fire Blast.
T’kal grins at him and conjures a fireball on his hand. He turns his head to glare at Hypno, who is caught by surprise. He then turns completely to throw the fireball at Hypno. The ball forms into a shape of “大“ and rushes towards the Hypnosis Pokémon. A large fiery explosion was made on impact.
Zh’en: Hypno!
The smoke clears and Hypno still stands. He slowly recovers from Aromatisse’s Heal Pulse. With Hypno still immobile after taking a large scale attack, Taari takes the opportunity.
Taari: Quick! Push him out with Flare Blitz!
T’kal engulfs himself with flames as he starts charging towards Hypno. Zh’en attempts to stop him.
Zh’en: Use Hypnosis again!
Taari: Dodge it!
Hypno sends out more hypnotic waves towards T’kal, but the tiger-like Pokémon manages to evade them all. T’kal manages to tackle Hypno and starts pushing him out of bounds. They start to get close at one end of the battlefield
Zh’en: Tch! Stop him with Thunder Punch.
Hypno’s fist start to charge up with electricity and he punches T’kal’s abdomen. T’kal flinches and stops what he’s doing.
Zh’en: Now, push him out!
Hypno runs around T’kal and tries to push him out, but not before Taari could turn the tables on his opponent.
Taari: Toss him out!
T’kal quickly regains his composure. He grabs Hypno’s fur collar with one hand and arm with another. T’kal then raises Hypno upwards and does a shoulder toss. Hypno hits the ground and remains immobile. Estela raises her hand.
Estela: Hypno is out of bounds! Taari and his T’kal wins!
The crowd goes wild after witnessing an exciting first match. Taari’s friends cheer for him from their seats.
Kaitlyn: Wooh! Go, Taari!!
Mika: Nice shoulder toss, T’kal!
Reginald: Excellent work, you two!
Elena: Wooh!
Back in the announcer booth...
Aryn: That’s what I’m talking about, ladies and gentlemen! WE NEED MORE OF THAT KIND OF ACTION!! Great job, Taari and T’kal.
Blight wakes from his small slumber and turns to Aryn.
Blight: What happened? Who won?
Aryn points at the battlefield and Blight witnesses Taari’s success.
Blight: Heh. He’s good.
After returning their Pokémon to their pokéballs, Taari and Zh’en are gathered at the center of the battlefield to shake hands. Taari extends his hand towards Zh’en, who was hesitant at first, but eventually shakes it. She then grips Taari’s hand hard. He winces but hides his pain. After the handshake, Zh’en begins to leave. Taari stops her for a moment.
Taari: Zh’en, wait...
Zh’en stops but does not look at Taari.
Zh’en: What?
Taari: Maybe we should talk about this conflict we’re having.
Zh’en considers for a few seconds before turning around to look at him.
Zh’en: Meet me at the cafeteria.
Zh’en continues to walk away. Taari looks at her, concerned until he is approached by Jake.
Jake: Hey, blueberry.
Taari: Mister Jake...?
Jake: You... should really clear the scene. We’re having an intermission soon.
Taari freaks out and apologizes shyly. He walks away.
Minutes later, during the intermission, Taari and Zh’en meet at the cafeteria. Zh’en sips her coffee while Taari trembles, thinking of how to start their conversation.
Recommended Music: Whispered Farewell (ES)
Taari: So...
Zh’en: Let me start first...
Taari becomes slightly surprised and stops his trembling. Zh’en continues.
Zh’en: I... I’m so sorry, Taari...
Tears start to fall from her eyes as she confesses her faults.
Zh’en: I’ve said all of those rude words and done all of those cruel things to you out of jealousy.
Taari: What do you mean?
Zh’en look into his eyes.
Zh’en: Before we met the Catalysts in person, we used to be such great friends. We hang out and play with the other kids. And then... they showed up and all you’ve done from then is hang out with them, not even making time for your friends... for me.
Taari: Zh’en...
Zh’en: The truth is, Taari... I used to like you. It broke my heart when we no longer spend time together. I grew to hate the Catalysts from then on. A few weeks after the end of Raan’losti, I ran away from Elyy’stel and came across Quarr’tel. There, I found Uqzhaal’s scriptures and grew to hate the Catalysts more.
Zh’en lowers her head until it comes in contact with the table.
Zh’en: But after seeing you out there, disproving my hatred towards those you respected and loved so much... it shows how much I’ve been so heartless towards them... towards you...
Tears start to fall from Taari’s eyes. He stands up and seats next to Zh’en to give her a comforting embrace.
Taari: I should be the one apologizing, Zh’en. I was so selfish back then. I never considered your feelings. I was heartless too. Please don’t beat yourself for what you’ve done.
Zh’en looks up to Taari.
Zh’en: What would you have me do?
Taari: Let go of your hatred and move on. I promise to never turn my back on you again. I will stay beside you every step of the way.
Zh’en considers his words and wipes off her tears. They then share a warm and gentle embrace.
Zh’en: Thank you, Taari.
The two friends pull away and Taari chuckles.
Taari: Pfft. I still can’t believe that you used to like me when we were kids.
Zh’en: Okay, now listen here...!
Taari: Nah! This is much better than the time Mister Jake was injected with a truth serum!
The two best friends joke around for a few minutes before leaving the cafeteria and returning to their seats. Back at the center of the stadium, Jake sneezes and Estela asks him...
Estela: What’s wrong?
Jake: ...I don’t know. It feels like two people are talking about me....
Meanwhile, in the competitor waiting room, Reginald is sitting and contemplating. A knock at the door is heard and he approaches to open it. His visitor is revealed to be his father, Aleister.
Aleister: Regina--
Reginald immediately closes the door and leans on it, preventing Aleister from opening it.
Reginald: LEAVE ME!
Aleister: We need to talk, son.
Reginald: THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT!
Aleister stays silent for a few seconds until...
Aleister: If you say so... I wish you the best of luck on your match...
Aleister walks away, while Reginald plants his ear on the door, listening and waiting for his father to leave. After a few seconds, Reginald exits the waiting room and heads towards the battlefield, gritting his teeth and clenching his fists.
At the center of the stadium, the intermission ends and the audience starts to cheer for the next match of the final round.
Blight: Ladies and gentlemen, now that our intermission has ended, it is time for us to move on to our next match!
Aryn: Residing from Mansingh Town, he is the son of the great Aleister and Grace Rourke! He is the second place winner of both the first and second round of the Pokélympics, REGINALD!
At the mention of his name, Reginald walks up to the battle field.
Blight: Residing from Prisma City, he is an underdog contestant who won third place in the Metropeal City Contest, PERRY!
Also at the mention of his name, Perry steps onto the battlefield. After the introductions, Reginald and Perry call out their Pokémon.
Perry: Let’s do this, Vikavolt!
Reginald: Go... Metagross...
Metagross comes out from Reginald’s side, while a Vikavolt comes out from Perry’s.
Recommended Music: From the Shadows (ILITW)
Estela raises her hand.
Estela: Let the match...
Before Estela could start the match, Perry comments on his slight disadvantage.
Perry: Well, I don’t feel like I can win...
Estela: ...BEGIN!
Immediately after the start of the match, Perry delivers his command.
Perry: Vikavolt, use String Shot and send Metagross out of bounds!
Perry’s Vikavolt shoots out a line of web at Metagross. The Steel-type Pokémon is eventually cocooned but does not do anything to retaliate. Vikavolt starts pulling the string to the side, sliding Metagross out of bounds. Perry continues his previous comment.
Perry: ...but I don’t feel like losing, either!
Back in the announcer booth...
Blight: Perry goes for a surprise attack in order to push his opponent out of bounds!
Aryn: Boring! We’ve been getting a lot of pacifistic ways to kick your opponent out! SERIOUSLY, PERRY! GIVE US SOME F!CKING VIOLENCE, DAMN IT!!
Before Metagross is sent outside of the battlefield, Reginald looks at Perry with regret and anger.
Reginald: I’m sorry... METAGROSS, USE ICE PUNCH!!
Metagross plants its fists on the ground, using friction to stop it from sliding off the battlefield. It then raises one of its fists, as cold air starts to surround it, and slams it on the ground. Large ice shards start to make their way towards Vikavolt, until...
CRRAAAAASH!!!
The whole stadium is engulf with a small tremor and a towering ice mountain is formed at its center.
Everyone inside the stadium remains silent and shocked. Bystanders stop in their tracks and see the ice mountain.
Bystander 1: Wha--
Bystander 2: What is that?!
In the midst of all the chaos, Reginald remains unfazed. He breathes out a white smoke of cold air, while Metagross breaks from its frozen web prison. Perry shivers from the cold and fearfully asks Reginald.
Perry: Don’t you think this is too much?
With half of her body encased in ice, Estela asks Perry.
Estela: Perry... Can your Vikavolt move?
Perry: Is that even a QUESTION?!
Estela breaks from her ice prison and declares the winner.
Estela: Perry’s Vikavolt has been immobilized! Reginald and his Metagross wins!
Everyone in the audience stare in awe and in fear, silent. One of them eventually speaks, nervously.
Person 1: Don’t worry about it!
He starts to chant, “Don’t worry about it!” and others start to follow his lead. Meanwhile, there are others who still look at Reginald with concern and worry; Taari and his friends, Taylor and the rest of the Endless Summer gang, and of course, Aleister and Grace.
Aleister: Reginald...
Back in the announcer booth, Blight just sits there, silent and staring at what Reginald has done. Even Aryn has set aside her sadistic commentary as she stares at the ice mountain with fear and worry.
In the battlefield, Reginald approaches Perry who is trying to get his Vikavolt unfrozen. Reginald calls out his Monferno.
Reginald: Monferno, use Flamethrower and thaw out Vikavolt without harming him.
Monferno does what Reginald asks for and starts working. Reginald then turns to Perry and apologizes.
Reginald: Sorry. I... uhh... went overboard. I... was angry...
In the audience, Taari looks more concerned and worried at Reginald than anyone else. A thought lingers on his mind.
Taari: You may say that you’re angry... but you looked very sad to me...
Taari and Reginald has gotten through their first matches of the final round. But what would be the result of the matches of Kaitlyn, Mika and Elena? FIND OUT IN THE NEXT CHAPTER OF POKÉMON SUMMER VERSION!

During lunch break session of the Pokélympics, an Arachnid soldier is cornered by Reginald, Blight, Estela and Jake.
Blight: Let me handle this.
Arachnid Soldier: Those who get in the way of the Arachnid shall be punished.
Blight: Bring it!
The soldier grabs his pokéball and calls out his Pokémon. Blight grins and does the same.
Arachnid Soldier: Crabominable, time for your mission!
Blight: Let’s do this, Steelix!
Recommended Music: Rival (Sun & Moon)
Two tough Pokémon are called out in the battlefield. Jake asks for reassurance.
Jake: Blight, are you sure about this? The Arachnid are relentless.
Blight: I’ve handled worse in Aryndelle.
The Arachnid soldier scoffs.
Arachnid Soldier: Do not underestimate me, simpleton! Crabominable, use Focus Punch!
Blight: Steelix, use Iron Tail to block it!
Energy is gathered in Crabominable’s clam-fist. Once charged, the Woolly Crab Pokémon tries to punch Steelix with all of its might. But before it could, Steelix hardens his tail and swings it towards the incoming attack, eventually blocking it. Although Steelix is hit, the damage is only minimal.
Blight: Alright, time to use it. Combination #5, Flame Tail!
Everyone around Blight is confused at what he just said.
Reginald: Combination #5?...
Arachnid Soldier: What is this nonsense that you are spilling?!
Fire starts to surround Steelix’s fangs while his tail starts to harden. He then bites his tail, engulfing it with flames.
(Like in this manner)
Everyone stares, dumbfounded.
Jake: Woah. I’ve never seen that before.
Estela: How is it not in pain after being hit by a super-effective attack?
Arachnid Soldier: What is this?!
Reginald: I’ve seen combination attacks but this is just... Wow...
Blight grins and delivers his command.
Blight: ATTACK!
Steelix charges forwards and slams his inflamed tail down at Crabominable. Still confused by Blight’s battle tactics, the Arachnid soldier is caught off-guard and was unable to command Crabominable fast enough to avoid the attack.
Arachnid Soldier: Wait! No!
It was too late. Crabominable was struck by a combination of Steel and Fire attacks. It instantly faints from the strong attack. The fainted Pokémon is then returned into its pokéball on the soldier’s hand. The Arachnid soldier kneels down in defeat and raises his arms.
Arachnid Soldier: I... surrender...
Blight: Hmph. That’s right.
Blight grins as Estela restrains the soldier while Jake calls for the Vaanti Police Force. After the Arachnid soldier was taken into custody, Blight approaches Reginald.
Blight: Good work chasing down that Arachnid soldier.
Reginald looks away.
Reginald: I didn’t do much.
Blight: No, but you did enough. We couldn’t have caught him without you.
Reginald: Yeah...
Reginald walks away. Blight looks at him with concern. A few minutes later, Reginald is seated on a bench. He is approached by Taari, who is holding two bags of chips
Taari: Hey, Reginald.
Reginald: Oh. Hello, Taari.
Taari sits down beside Reginald and hands him one bag of chips.
Reginald: Look, about my behavior earlier...
Taari: You don’t need to apologize. I just want to ask; are you going through something?
Reginald: It’s just...
Reginald sighs and looks away from Taari.
Reginald: You already know who my father is.
Taari: Yeah. Uncle Aleister...
At the mention of his father’s name, Reginald snaps.
Reginald: Don’t say his name!
Taari flinches.
Taari: I... I’m sorry...
Reginald: He’s nothing but a liar to me and a traitor to his friends. He’s merely just a a lighter version of my grandfather, what you call, “the Hydra”. As much as I want to forget it, people around me just keeps talking about everything that they’ve done. I can never get these out of my mind. That is why I have decided that in my path to victory, I will cut ties with my father.
Reginald pockets his hand and pulls out a ring containing a Mega Stone, one that belonged to his Metagross.
Reginald: You may not know this, but... I can actually use Mega Evolution on my Metagross. But I chose not to use it. No... I have decided to reject my father completely by winning the La Huerta League without using Mega Evolution.
He closes his fist and clenches it. Taari looks at him with so much worry. Seconds later, Reginald stands up and walks away.
Reginald: I’m sorry that you had to hear that Taari. I should not have talked to you about this.
He stops short in his tracks and looks back at Taari.
Reginald: Mark my words, Taari. I will win the Pokélympics and the La Huerta League.
Reginald turns away and continues walking. Seconds pass and Taari starts to chase after him.
Taari: Wait!...
Reginald stops but doesn’t look back.
Taari: All my life, I have always been helped by others. That was the case earlier too. I am here because of the people who have either saved, helped or supported me.
Taari slightly raises his hand and stares at it. He starts to remember his past; Seraxa taking care of him after losing his parents to Cetus, Tyler and Taylor working together to save him from Cetus, all of the support he has gained from others during his adventures from Elyy’stel to Orderve city. Taari looks back at Reginald.
Taari: Tyler and Taylor... I want to be like them. In order to do that, I have to be strong enough to become a champion.
Reginald eventually turns to look at Taari.
Taari: My motivation might seem trivial compared to yours... but I can’t lose, either. I have to live up to the hopes of those who supported me. Elena isn’t the only one declaring a war against you.
Taari balls his fist.
Taari: I will beat you.
Reginald considers Taari’s words and gives him a nod before walking away. Meanwhile, hiding behind a tree, Elena eavesdrop on their conversation.
Lunch break has ended and everyone is gathered back in the stadium. In the announcer booth, Aryn and Blight are seated, currently absent of any quarrels.
Aryn: Now that lunch is over, it is finally time for us to move on to our last round of the Pokélympics!
Blight: The last round is composed of a regular Pokémon battle but with a special twist. Health points of Pokémon are disregarded. You cannot force an opponent’s Pokémon to faint in order to win.
Aryn: And to prevent that, we have our expert Pokémon doctor, Michelle Nguyen and her Aromatisse to make sure that the Pokémon of two competitors fighting do not faint.
Blight: There are ways to win a battle in this round; one is that you must push the opponent’s Pokémon out of bounds; or you must completely immobilize the opponent’s Pokémon; or you could tire out the opponent’s Pokémon to the point where they run out of stamina.
Aryn: And lastly, you can only use ONE Pokémon throughout the whole tournament.
Blight: Now, we move on to our umpires, Estela and Jake.
Everyone’s attention is then directed to Estela and Jake, one of them is holding a small box of folded papers.
Jake: What I have here in my arms is a box of names of the eight competitors who made it to the final round.
Estela: We are going to draw the pairs of competitors who will go head-to-head in the first four matches of the Tournament Round.
After a few minutes, the bracket based on the results of the drawing is shown on the stadium television.
Jake: Here are the results, with our first match being... Taari versus Zh’en! Two Vaantis, head-to-head!
Taari looks at the bracket and thinks to himself.
Taari: So, I’m one of the first to fight. After my battle, it’s Reginald’s turn. Which means that if both of us win our matches, then we get to fight each other in the next bracket. But first, I have to worry about...
Before he could finish, he is cut off by a voice.
Voice: It’s been a long time, Taari.
Taari is caught by surprise and turns to see his former childhood friend, Zh’en.
Taari: Zh’en... yeah. It’s been too long.
Zh’en: How have you been? I’m sure you’ve gone through a lot, especially with those so-called “Catalysts” and their children.
Taari grits his teeth.
Taari: Don’t you dare address them like that.
Zh’en scoffs and walks away.
Zh’en: If you want to express how you feel about what I said, then settle it with our match.
Meanwhile, the rest of the final round competitors consider their opponents.
Reginald: I didn’t expect to be able to face Taari after my first match.
A voice calls for Reginald and he turns to see his opponent, Perry.
Perry: Hey. You must be Reginald. I’m Perry, your opponent.
Reginald: Yeah... Huh? Aren’t you the contestant who won third place in the Metropeal City Contest?
Perry: Yeah. That’s me. I guess we’re going against each other. Let’s do our best out there.
Reginald: Agreed...
Perry grins and waves at Reginald before leaving him. Reginald looks back at the stadium television, ignoring what he and Perry have just discussed.
On the other hand, Kaitlyn feels uneasy because her opponent just so happens to be Mika. Kaitlyn looks at Mika, who looks back with determination in her eyes.
And lastly, Elena is too fixed on the bracket, ignoring the calls of her opponent.
Back in the announcer booth, Aryn and Blight move on to the consolation event for those who did not make it to the final round.
Aryn: Before we could proceed with the final round, we will be going for an interlude first. For those of you who did not make it into the final round, you can still compete in the recreational games.
Blight: That’s right, ladies and gentlemen. Before we could move on to our final round, we have to first witness the other skills of those who were not able to make it.
Aryn: Competitors who did make it into the finals can still participate in the recreational games.
While the eliminated competitors have fun in the recreational games, the finalists couldn’t relax. Some polish their skills and strategy against their opponents. Some try to keep their presence of mind. And some try to relax their nerves.
And before they knew it, the final round is about to begin. The finalists have gathered at the center of the stadium with Estela and Jake.
Estela: We will now move on to the final round of the Pokélympics.
Jake: You guys better clear the scene.
The finalists look at the umpires with confused faces. Estela looks at the announcer booth.
Estela: Blight, do it!
Back in the announcer booth, Blight pulls out a remote with one button.
Blight: And now, it’s time to raise the stage!
Blight pushes the button and a small tremor is felt. The finalists flinch and start to clear the center of the stadium as it opens. A flat battlefield rises from the ground. Afterwards, Michelle and her Aromatisse arrive at the center of the stadium approaching Estela and Jake.
Michelle: Aromatisse, use Heal Pulse.
Aromatisse raises her arms as continuous pulses of healing energy come out of her. Estela calls on the first pair of finalists.
Estela: First two finalists, please take your positions on the battlefield.
Back in the announcer booth...
Blight: And here they come, ladies and gentlemen! For match number one...
Aryn: Residing from the city of Elyy’stel, a Vaanti boy who has shared adventures with the Catalysts and has fought his way up to the top of the Pokélympics, Taari!
At the mention of his name, Taari walks up to the battle field.
Blight: Next, also residing from the city of Elyy’stel, a Vaanti girl who has secretly reached the top with the other finalists and is a complete mystery, Zh’en!
Also at the mention of her name, Zh’en steps onto the battlefield.
In the announcer booth, Blight sighs and speaks to Aryn.
Blight: Alright, Aryn, go all-out.
Aryn: Wait... Really?!
Blight nods and Aryn’s eyes light up as she smiles.
Aryn: BRING OUT THE BLOODSHED! THROW OUT ALL OF YOUR MORALS AND ETHICS AS YOU BEAT THE LIVING SH!T OUT OF YOUR OPPONENTS!!
Blight: Of course, life-threatening actions would lead to disqualification.
Aryn looks back at Blight in disgust.
Aryn: Boo!
At the battlefield, Taari and Zh’en call out their Pokémon.
Taari: I’m counting on you, T’kal!
Zh’en: Go, Hypno.
T’kal the Incineroar comes out from Taari’s side, while a Hypno comes out from Zh’en’s. Estela raises her hand.
Estela: Let the match...
Before Estela could initiate the match, Zh’en attempts to provoke Taari.
Zh’en: You know, maybe Uqzhaal was right...
Taari is caught by surprise at the mention of the late-shaman’s name.
Zh’en: ...Maybe the Catalysts can never be trusted.
Taari grits his teeth and clenches his fists.
Estela: ...BEGIN!!
Not even a second has passed and Taari has already started giving his order.
Taari: T’kal, use Flare Blitz!!
T’kal shares Taari’s rage and engulfs himself with flames. He charges towards Zh’en’s Hypno. But not before Zh’en could stop him...
Zh’en: Use Hypnosis.
Zh’en’s Hypno swings his pendulum as hypnotic waves are fired towards T’kal. Once struck by the status attack, T’kal stops and remains in place. Taari is shocked at what is happening.
Recommended Music: The Hunted (ES)
Taari: T’kal?! What’s wrong?! WHY DID YOU STOP?!
Back in the announcer booth...
Blight: Ladies and gentlemen, even though T’kal has the type advantage, a simple Hypnosis was able to turn the tides.
Aryn: Boo! Cut that hypnosis crap, Zh’en! BEAT HIS ASS!! Taari, get your f!cking Pokémon together and SEND THAT MOTHER F!CKER TO HELL!
Blight does a facepalm at Aryn’s behavior
Back on the battlefield, Zh’en delivers his next command.
Zh’en: Tell it to turn around and walk out of bounds.
Hypno points to Taari’s side and T’kal nods. The tiger-like Pokémon turns around and starts to walk towards the off-bounds on Taari’s side.
Taari: T’kal, no. WAIT!
Zh’en closes her eyes in confidence.
Zh’en: I win, Taari.
Will Taari be beaten this easily on the first match? WHAT?! PFFT! Of course not! He’s the protagonist. He has plot-armor. Just wait for the next chapter of Pokémon Summer Version to find out how he wins. PEACE!

The Pokélympics is in session and the first sports event is an Obstacle Race. In the first few minutes of the race, Reginald has taken the lead and has immobilized the 15-foot tall robot that is leading an army of 5-foot tall robots. The leader tilts to the side and falls apart.
Reginald: Use Zen Headbutt.
Metagross’s head starts to glow as it charges forward. Every robot in its way is destroyed. Reginald eventually clears the first obstacle. Meanwhile, the other competitors are doing their best to get through it.
Blight: Reginald has cleared the first course! I guess Zahra didn’t make those robots as durable as they’re supposed to be.
Blight chuckles and looks to the audience. He sees Zahra pointing towards him and doing a slitting-throat motion. Blight leans on his chair, sweating.
Back to the other competitors, Elena is the second to clear the course with her Charizard.
Elena: Use Fire Blast!
Charizard fires a large fire ball, forming into a shape of a “大”, as it travels towards a group of robots. The fire ball hits and the robots explode. Elena and Charizard continue on and follow Reginald.
On the other hand, Kaitlyn and Mika use their partners to short-circuit the robots.
Kaitlyn: Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!
Mika: Luxio, use Wild Charge!
Pikachu charges herself and lets out an electrical surge towards the robots. Meanwhile, Luxio covers itself with electricity and tackles one robot, launching it to the other robots behind it. All of the robots, that were struck by electricity, short-circuited and drop to the ground. Kaitlyn and Mika finish the first course together and chase after the two leaders, Reginald and Elena.
Other competitors start to follow the four, while Taari, somewhere in the middle of the first course, runs with his Wartortle. One robot approaches the pair and they respond in kind.
Taari: Wartortle, Ice Blade combo!
Wartortle withdraws inside his shell and uses Hydro Pump and Rapid spin to make a Water Frisbee. Afterwards, he uses Ice Beam to freeze the water. He spins towards the robot, slicing it into pieces. Wartortle breaks the ice and pops out of his shell. He and Taari high five and clear the first course.
Reginald reaches the second obstacle course. He stops short to see a canyon with stone tower formations with ropes that connect each of them.
Aryn: And now we move on to our second obstacle, the Fall! You have to traverse the canyon without falling. If you do fall, you will be met by SPIKY ROCKS OF DEATH!
Blight: Aryn!
Aryn stays silent and sits back down, crossing her arms and puffing her cheeks. Blight rephrases her last statement.
Blight: What Aryn meant was, at the bottom of the canyon is a field of cotton, provided by our very own Varyyn and Michelle Nguyen, with the help of their Whimsicott and Altaria, respectively.
Before the other competitors could reach Reginald, his Metagross uses Psychic to hover over the canyon. Elena, with her Charizard, flies over the canyon and eventually catches up to Reginald.
Elena: I got you now, Regi--
Before she could finish, a strong sound wave strikes the two prodigies’ Pokémon. Elena’s Charizard covers his ears and slowly lands on a rock formation. Meanwhile, Reginald’s Metagross is barely affected. Reginald, covers his ears and looks at the source of the sound wave. At the end of the second course, a woman is seen standing with a Primarina.
Reginald: Auntie Quinn!
Back in the announcer booth...
Aryn: That’s right, ladies and gentlemen. To make it more interesting and challenging, we asked Quinn Kelly to participate in slowing down our competitors.
At the end of the second course, Quinn smirks.
Quinn: Primarina, use Hyper Voice again!
Quinn’s Primarina takes a deep breath and releases a deafening voice. The sound wave reaches Reginald and his Metagross. This time the attack gives a more resulting effect. Metagross slowly descends to a rock formation.
Reginald: We need a shield against that attack. Metagross, use Hammer Arm on this rock!
Metagross slams its arm on the ground and shards of rock start to scatter.
Reginald: Now, use Psychic and form a rock shield.
Metagross uses psychokinesis to control the scattered rocks and glued them together to form a rock shield in front of it and Reginald.
Reginald: Let’s do this! Boost us with Zen Headbutt!
Metagross hovers and uses Zen Headbutt to turbo its way past Quinn and her Primarina’s Hyper Voice. He clears the second course. Meanwhile, Elena thinks of a plan to get through Quinn.
Elena: Charizard, use Flame Charge!
Charizard coats his front with flames. He takes off with Elena on his back. Primarina fires another Hyper Voice but the soundwave is blocked by the Flame Charge attack. Elena clears the second course.
With no way to fly over the course, Kaitlyn and Mika traverse through it normally, using the ropes. Taari does the same, but more slowly due to Wartortle weighing him down. Eventually, the three clears the course, with Kaitlyn and Mika still tied in the same place and Taari behind them.
Reginald and his Metagross are the first to arrive at the final course. In front of his is an large field that is filled with underground mines.
Aryn: And now, we move on to our final obstacle, the Mine Field! Watch your step competitors, or you will be BLOWN TO BITS!!
Blight: For goodness sake, Aryn! Ladies and gentlemen, the mines in this course, like the robots in the first course, are only designed to disrupt the competitors and NOT kill them. When stepped on, the mines will react by releasing a bright light and smoke to obscure sight and will also send out shock waves to push back the competitors.
Aryn: That’s too boring! Give us some blood!
Blight: Go watch Game of Thrones then!
Back on the final course, Reginald and his Metagross hover over the field, while thinking things over.
Reginald: I see. This is an obstacle to disrupt those in the lead, especially when there’s two or more that are--
A dragon-shaped silhouette reaches Reginald and a fist covered in flames tries to hit Metagross. It manages to avoid the fiery fist in time. The attacker is revealed to be Elena and her Charizard.
Elena: I’ve finally caught up to you! Charizard, keep using Fire Punch!
Elena’s Charizard keeps trying to hit Metagross with multiple Fire Punches. In return, Metagross strafes to avoid the attacks.
Reginald: Tch! I can’t be too reckless...
As Reginald and Elena fight for first place, the rest of the competitors try to traverse through the final course. Kaitlyn and her Pikachu tried going for a fast route, but they were overwhelmed by the fast explosions made by the landmines. Mika, on the other hand, takes a more cautious approach, using her Luxio to go ahead and show her a safe path, thus making her move much faster.
Taari is still at the starting point of the course, thinking of a way to get through it. When struck with an idea, he kneels down and starts to dig up the ground.
Taari: Wartortle, help me with this!
Taari and his Wartortle dig out mines beneath the ground. The competitors in front of him look back, confused.
Competitor: What is he doing?
They shrug Taari off and continue with the course. Once Taari and Wartortle gathered all of the mines into a pile, the Vaanti boy gives one more command to his partner.
Reginald: Alright, Wartortle. Use Withdraw.
Wartortle withdraws into his shell. Taari carries him and starts to rush towards the pile of mines they gathered. Taari jumps, holding Wartortle in front of him. As soon as they land on the mine pile, a huge explosion is created. Every one of the competitors stop in their tracks to look back.
Aryn: What is this?! A large explosion at the back of the course?
The shock wave of the explosion launches Taari and his Wartortle up into the air. The two started to fly fast towards Reginald and Elena.
Blight: Was that an accident or on purpose?! Ladies and gentlemen, as of right now, Taari is in hot pursuit with that blast!
However, Taari and Wartortle are still going. Once they reached the two front-runners, they immediately fly past them and take the lead.
Blight: Screw that! TAARI HAS TAKEN THE LEAD!!
The sudden turn of events have made the crowd cheer loudly. With Taari in the lead, he starts celebrate but immediately breaks down.
Taari: I did it! It worked! It actually worked! But... I didn’t exactly plan my LANDING!!
Meanwhile, behind him, Reginald and Elena pursues. Elena’s Charizard started using Flame Charge to catch up with Taari.
Elena: So, you’re the Vaanti boy I’ve heard so much about!
Reginald’s Metagross slams an Ice Punch downwards and forms an icy ground.
Reginald: This should give everyone a path. But I have to worry on taking back the lead. Metagross, Zen Headbutt!
Metagross’s head starts to glow and it charges towards Taari and Elena.
Aryn: Now that they have a common enemy, Reginald and Elena have stopped fighting each other and started to take back the lead from Taari!
Taari and his Wartortle starts to lose momentum in the air. In a swift moment, Elena and Reginald are already beside him.
Taari: Damn it! I’m already losing speed. They’ll overtake me in an instant.
Taari quickly stands on top of his Wartortle’s shell and does a surfer’s pose.
Taari: Use Hydro Pump behind you!
Wartortle fires a strong jet of water at the back of its shell. This, in turn, boosts him much farther from Reginald and Elena. Before Wartortle could land, Taari jumps off. As he lands, he continues dashing towards the finish line, with Wartortle right behind him.
Blight: Amazing! Taari manages to stay in the lead, especially now that he is close to the finish line!
Aryn: Ladies and gentlemen, this has been a great turn of events. The winner of our first sports event of the Pokélympics is...
As Aryn is about to announce the first event’s winner, Taari runs past the finish line, followed by Reginald, then Elena.
Aryn: ...TAARI!!
The crowd goes wild as the first event comes to a close. Kaitlyn and Mika reaches the finish line in 6th and 7th place, respectively. Kaitlyn lifts Pikachu up and gives a hug.
Kaitlyn: We did it, Pikachu!
Pikachu: Pika~pika!
Meanwhile, behind them, Mika clenches her fist after losing a second time against Kaitlyn. Luxio nuzzles Mika’s hand and she calms down. She kneels down and pats him on the head.
Mika: Everything’s okay, Luxio. Thank you.
While the competitors gather around the main stadium, Estela and Jake goes back onstage.
Estela: It’s time for the second event!
Jake: Let’s take a look back to the PokéVision.
Everyone turns to the Stadium television as the slot machine selects the next event. The machine stops to show...
Aryn: Kibasen!..... Uhh.... what?!
Blight: It’s Japanese. The word means, “Cavalry Fight”.
Aryn: Cavalry Fight?! YOU MEAN A FIGHT TO THE DEATH?!
Blight: What?! No!
Aryn: Oh...
Aryn leans back on her chair, grief-stricken.
Blight: Anyway... Kibasen is basically like Chicken Fight, except it doesn’t happen in a pool. A group of two to four shall group together, with one person being carried while the rest of the group lifts them up.
Jake continues the explanation back on the center of the stadium.
Jake: But there’s a twist. Based on the results of the last event, each person must carry with them, an assigned point value.
Estela: The points assigned start at five points for the last place competitor. The higher your place is on the first event, the higher your points are.
Jake: And the point value assigned to the first place competitor is... TEN MILLION!
Everyone goes silent for a few seconds. Meanwhile, in his mind, Taari exclaims.
Taari: Te... TEN MILLION?!?!
Every single one of the competitors look at Taari, like he is the last pizza slice left on the table. They start to think of the same thing.
Elena: Ten Million, huh?
Reginald: In other words, if you take down the first place player’s team...
All Competitors: ...you can stand on top no matter what place you were in.
Estela and Jake smirk to the competitors.
Estela: Hmph! That’s right...
Jake: It’s a survival of the fittest, with a chance for those at the bottom to beat the top!
Tension fills Taari as he’s no longer looking at a group of competitors, but a group of predators.
Will Taari be able to keep his first place? Who will win the second event of the Pokélympics? FIND OUT IN THE NEXT CHAPTER OF POKÉMON SUMMER VERSION!
