"is  he  taller?"    gaze  seems  to  shift  between  jeanny  and  the  recently  -  returned  terry  silver,  full  of  caution,  curiosity  and  suspicion,  all  blended  together.  a  part  of  him  isn’t  surprised  to  see  the  disgraced    (  or  apparently,  not  disgraced,  if  he’s  here  )    sensei.    ⸻    don’t  men  like  that  always  land  on  their  feet?  the  difference  is,  back  in  the  valley,  it  all  felt  a  little  easier  to  process.  here,  his  presence  feels  dangerous.  even  his  mom  stands  on  edge  and  anything  that  bothers  her,  automatically  bothers  her  son’s  protective  nature.  it  shows  in  bouncing  knee,  or  one  nail  chipping  polish  off  another.  he  can’t  relax  and  his  usual  methods  aren’t  as  readily  available  here  in  barcelona  as  they  are  at  home.    "i  feel  like  he  looks  taller."    he  blinks,  pondering  his  own  musing  for  a  moment  before  finally  turning  attention  fully  to  his  teammate,  focusing  on  her  instead.    "maybe  his  powers  in  his  ponytail,  like  throwing  kryptonite  at  superman.  one  of  us  could  tackle  him,  the  other  could  chop  it  off."    there’s  a  part  of  him  that’s  only  half  -  serious.  nate  is  mostly  trying  to  lighten  a  tense  mood,  though  deadpan  expression  makes  it  difficult  to  tell.  the  boy  has  always  been  a  little  odd,  a  little  mysterious.

ㅤㅤㅤ❝ I'M GLAD YOU'RE STICKING AROUND. ❞ Tory was never the best at making friends. No, she's way better at losing them, judging by how many people want nothing to do with her anymore. She doesn't really blame them, though. She did start that fight at the school and fucked things up for a lot of people , herself included. Aisha's gone, Miguel is probably shacked up with Larusso somewhere ( ugh ) , and Tory's circle is getting smaller and smaller. Not that it was big to begin with. But she does consider Jeanny a friend, and the fact that she came back to the dojo makes her feel better about her own decision to stay. ❝ Not a lot of girls around here anymore. It'd really suck if this all became one big testosterone party again. ❞

Her  gift  is  simple,  as  it  is  the  first  year  of  them  as  sisters,  properly  sisters.  Dad  helped  her  make  a  birthday  cake  (of  their  favorite  flavor),  and  then  Jeanny  brought  the  presents.  One  was  a  candle  (surprisenly  it  was  very  zen  and  also  smelled  like  jazmine  which  was  nice)  and  she  figures  it  would  help  with  Tory's  zen  time  when  she  was  with  Reggie.  The  second  one  was  a  picture  wallpaper,  with  photos  and  important  moments  through  the  year,  for  Tory  to  hang  on  her  wall.

ㅤㅤㅤYOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH WHITE CHOCOLATE AND VANILLA. She's already on her third ( or is it fourth ? ) piece. It's her birthday! This is a day where Tory can eat as much cake as she wants, and no one can say shit about it, which is a fact she is happy to take full advantage of. But she needs to actually check out her presents before she slips into a sugar coma, so she pushes away her plate. Just for now. The first one earns a laugh. This has Jeanny written all over it, for sure. She can't imagine Bobby would sign off on a bitch candle . ❝ What is this? Jasmine? Maybe it'll help me calm the hell down a little. ❞ That's what this stuff is supposed to do, right? Perfect. ❝ And you're my favorite bitch, too. ❞

ㅤㅤㅤWhen she sees the framed collage, she can't help but smile. Some of her favorite memories are on there, captured in an image. Ninja Turtle hunting while drunk off their asses. Dressing up like tacos and hitting the club. Triple date at Horror Nights. The rager they threw at the church while Bobby was gone one weekend ( might be for the best if he doesn't notice that picture, specifically ) . ❝ You know I'm a slut for a good nostalgic photo collection. This is going in my room, ❞ Tory grins. ❝ It's crazy to think we've only been sisters for a year. Well, officially. It feels like I've known you forever. ❞ It might sound cheesy, but it's true. And okay, maybe she is extra sappy today, but she deserves to be! ❝ C'mon, you gotta hug me after I say something cheesy like that. Or else I'm gonna throw cake at you. ❞

ㅤㅤㅤ❝ I WOULD HAVE TEXTED IN ADVANCE, BUT I WANTED TO SURPRISE YOU. ❞ Bouquet in hand, a mix of red dianthus and carnations, a smile effortlessly pulls across his features as Jeanny answers the door. The choice in flowers is deliberate; roses would have been the traditional choice, yes, but they seemed too basic to ever match a girl like Jeanny. In Leo's other hand is a jewelry box carrying a ruby bracelet that would match the necklace he'd given her for Valentine's Day. These aren't the only presents he's gotten her for her birthday, but they're a good and simple place to start. ❝ I've got reservations for us at Mélisse. It's in Santa Monica, so it'll be a little bit of a drive, but I promise you, it's worth it. ❞ Leo leans, placing a kiss on her cheek as he gently sets the flowers down on the nearest surface. ❝ I didn't know if your family had a party planned for you tonight or anything, so I also made reservations for tomorrow, too, just in case. ❞
