so i know you have guineas and love them. i just lost one of my piggies. (she was quite old and she was only holding on for me and her sister) do you know of any ways to help cope with this?
Hi, Kylie— let me start off by saying that I am so sorry to hear about your piggie. Losing a pet always hurts, whether it's a guinea pig, a dog, a cat, or anything in between. I don't have any guinea pigs myself at the moment, but when I lost my last boy, Phineas, I found that sometimes the best thing to do in order to cope was to just cry and let myself be sad about it. Don't ever feel silly or embarrassed to cry over the death of a pet, because it's so far from either of those things. After the first few days, which are often the worse, I started feeling comfortable enough to spend time with one of my closest friends, and she really helped me feel better about everything-- she even managed to get me to crack a few smiles. Then I bought some flowers from a plant nursery and made a nice little garden in my backyard by the place where my guinea pig had been buried. It was nothing extravagant, but it gave me a way to remember him.
You don't have to plant flowers, but it might help to do something like that to remember your piggie by. Something physical that you can touch and see. Write something, paint a picture, tack some pictures of her to your wall-- there are endless possibilities. Do whatever feels the most natural to you.
I'll be sending you lots of love and good thoughts. ♥
