No one *wants* to surrender no one is ever excited about that possibility but SOMETIMES IT’S A THING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BECAUSE THE ALTERNATIVE IS ANNIHILATION. Like the Colonies.
I can't believe you're suggesting this is not the face of someone who is PSYCHED at his prospects, like oh man awesome gonna get laid now.
(hey btw let's talk again about how he pulled himself out of a drunk three-way stupor and stood up in front of his whole staff and kept trying to keep his head up and voice steady even while he was crying, oh my god this is such a paradoxical moment of cowardice and bravery I can't even stand it)

My thoughts about Gaius during NC always go to: ‘lol that poor bastard.’ I do blame him for a lot, but not NC.
(nods) I love how throughout those episodes, other characters are constantly trashing him and saying his name like a curse, but then every time he's actually onscreen he's just kind of... really pathetic and tortured.
And here, before I drift too far into Baltarpologist land, let me list some ways he frakked stuff up on NC!
should not have been so rash and gung-ho about settling there
should not have bought the total pipe dream idea that The Cylons Would Never Ever Find Them so who needs a fully active military or anything
should arguably not have run for president at all, a job he was completely unequipped to actually do, just because his ego was wounded
should not have been a lazy, self-pitying addict for an entire year while people were starving and stuff, that's a boatload of incompetence that had nothing to do with anyone but him
should not have given that *nuclear goddamn weapon* to a woman who wanted to *kill everyone* partly in the hopes she'd trust him to frak her
no that just needs a second bullet point for emphasis because he not only showed total disregard for the mental state of a character I love but also like *a thousand people died* and that’s the whole reason the Cylons found them at all so SMOOTH MOVE PRESIDENT BAD-IDEA
(ugh can I just, that moment when they tell him that's how they found the planet, and nobody ever knows what that means but him, but he got it and it broke every remaining inch of him)
But then, after all that was done, here is what he had a judge-worthy choice in during the occupation:
NOTHING. Not surrendering! Not anything the puppet government did! Not retreating into supposed ignorance or apathy as his only way of coping with things going completely out of his control! Not signing that piece of paper he was literally, traumatically forced into signing! None of that! Poor bastard!

I’m with Romo on that one- I’m glad the guy who surrendered was in charge when the Cylons came. You’ve got a chance if you surrender. You have no chance if the Cylons nuke you.
Sometimes I think it was a drawback of the trial storyline that the thing he was being charged with was actually the most defensible thing he'd ever done, but then I remember how many characters and how much of the audience needed Mark Sheppard to yell that at them. :p
Bering and Wells, endurance (is that the kind of prompt you meant or do you want like, a scenario?)
ahh this works c: ((anything works, tbh))
Helena flopped down onto the bed next to her, breathing hard. They’d put their two days off to good use, it seemed, not leaving the bedroom ever; unless it was for food or to shower (they usually showered together).
Pete would joke that Myka didn’t want Helena to leave her sight since she’d come back. Myka wouldn’t deny it.
Minutes later, Helena’s hand drew circles on Myka’s stomach and she leaned in to pepper kisses on Myka’s neck.
"I have to be up in four hours," Myka complained half heartedly, but her complaint was lost as Helena’s lips found her own and her hand dipped a little lower.

This is a daily struggle in my life. When you throw in my desire for Stahma/Amanda it gets really rough. (NGL I continue to lean more towards the Tarrs until something more happens with Stahma and Kenya!)
omg yes. i want amanda/stahma so badly :((
but I think I'm always going to ship the tarrs. even if something more happens with Kenya, I just...I love the tarrs. They're twisted and shit but deep down they do love each other. Datak just has his beliefs and all that but Stahma is just as manipulative and stuff
I don't want them to break up...or for Datak to like, try to kill her or something.
because i will punch someone in the face if that happens
favourite non-human lady character: Bo Dennis! (much as i love and adore stahma tarr for all her machiavellian alien glory.) Sweet brave big-hearted Bo who loves so freely and just wants to be loved and have a family and have a home and will fight to the death to protect the people she cares about :’)
a lady you’d want to be your mentor/teacher/guide: ooh lord. Diane Lockhart or Tami Taylor.
